Soooo glad I saw this video!!!! I bought two shells for my keys and they didn’t work at first. All I did is remove the chips with a box cutter gently and used a small piece of electrical tape to secure it in inside the shell. And they worked perfectly 🥰🥰🥰 it saved me $ 700 plus because Honda wanted to charge me $350 per key.
my car remote key was broken and I was unable to start my car with the key alone. I spent hours to figure out the root cause. Now, I knew it was because of that immobility chip on the fob. Thanks for this very useful video.
What allows the car to start is called a transponder (gets programed to match the on board igintion system ) the door lock/unlock "green circuit board" it's programmable by owner. When buying a replacement match the FCC ID and model number to original let fob the info (listed inside the plastic outer shell on the back of electronic cover). If you wanna save A lot of money you can purchase a key copy device at local auto parts that will plug into the OBD II and it reads the copies the correct info onto the new transponder. Hopefully this helps someone.
Thanks for the video. I figured out how to take out the chip. The chip is inside a plastics wall. We can cut the wall gently from the side then pull the chip out. There is one drop of glue or sticky foam on the bottom of the chip. Not too bad.
Thanks for video! I saved so much money by ordering key fob from Amazon. Works perfectly!! Try this first before going to dealership. I was told it would cost 110.00 for key 150.00 for programming. Doesn’t make sense. Thanks again.
I pretty much just pryed the transponder chip out of the original shell with a mini flathead, and used some electrical tape to wedge it in place inside the new shell. Also I used some strips of e. tape inside the case to wedge the buttons in snug to prevent any rattling. The whole process took about 30-40 minutes. Good luck👍🏾
This is the first video I've seen that talks about the immobility chip - Thank you! I ordered two blanks for a 2006 Pilot, had the key ground, and programmed the lock/unlock. But the key wouldn't allow the car to start. I figured it must be something like this immobility chip, but had never heard of it. Now I know!
On the sides of the immobilizer chip all you have to do is press in the two little things on the side and the top piece comes off and the immobilizer chip will fall out and just take note of the position that it's in in your key and then you can put that immobilizer chip into your new key and then snap the little lid for the immobilizer chip back on you don't have to glue it in it all snaps back together
I bought a replacement smart key for my Nissan and infinty. The Infinity was off brand the Nissan was refurbished. They were both under $40. I took them to Batteries + Bulbs and they programmed and cut both keys for $49 each. Its still a lot cheaper than the dealership.
Thanks so much! I only have one key & it’s so worn & old I thought I was going to have to shell out twice as much for a new one. Their site list programming fee as $69.99 ( Additional key cutting or programming fee may apply )
2024 update on price Honda charges $100+ $90 for programming for the key and fob. Valet key is $40 + $90 for programming. Honda CRV. Thank you for this video!
Buy the blank keys from ebay ($13 delivered). Have the keys cut at ACE or wherever ($15 each). I have a honda hds him so i can program keys as easily as FCA vehicles. If you live in the Metro Detroit area, I can help register keys that START the vehicle and have spares. Even if you have no programmed keys available.
I just had a new key in a key fob made at dealership and it cost me $184 if I saw this video it will save me a lot of money. I have a second key so I’m Definitely gonna be cutting out the chip and get a new case. New case on Amazon is eight dollars or less
Getting it coded and programmed is roughly around 100 to 150 now. There is a difference between coded and programmed. Coded gets ur car to start and programmed gets the remote functions to work ie. lock unlock doors
Omg I wish I would have seen this video first I changed my key fob and I the trashed the old one thinking the chip was in the part that open and lock door..🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ now I only has the regular key to start my car .. so will my car continue to start with the other key just fine?
Your link takes us to a search results page that displays many options but from what I can see and the reviews + the question and answer section most if not all of these shells do not contain a place to transfer your existing transponder into the new shell...Nice video though. Just wish you had a specific link for a NEW shell with the transponder holder included 😕
My dealership charged me $100 + tax for a new key shell (no programming). 4 years later, it's broken again, so I will try an Amazon shell instead this time.
Honda wanted $167. Locksmith $87. The locksmith key works. Idk if there was a key. But now it doesn’t work to unlock the doors. It works in the ignition
I cut out the sensor and attached it to the new innards of the new fob. It wasn't that hard to get the sensor out and I don't think I damaged it. I programmed the remote and it unlocks and locks the car, but the car will not start (just turns over). Sad face. Sad wallet.
I just bought a 2006 pilot and it only came with the valet key.... It worked for a week but now I'm unable to enter ... So I got pump and wedge kit and was able to get in... but with alarm screaming...was attempting to disconnect alarm from front hood but couldn't get the sensor to disconnect so decided not to touch it I didn't want to mess up the fan or anything in the front... lol so for the neighbors sake I closed the door and locked it up again and ordered the key Fob it's arrived today (mind you I've been stuck in the country for a week and a half because of this 😣) so fob is... same exact one in middle above in your video ... now I have to break back into the car.... And try to program but will it even allow me to do so? .... Last time once I broke into my car I was able to use the valet key to start the engine but for some reason it won't unlock the drive door... And this gray key is plain with no bottons ..... I'm worried that if the alarm doesn't turn off it may not program? I'm also worried that if I keep setting off the alarm I might kill my battery and really get stuck .....I was watching videos about programming it and they say to be sitting inside the car with a car doors unlocked ... How do I put it in programing mode ....I really don't have money for a locksmith and my brother and Dad's are in New York so I can't call them over...i definitely have to figure this out on my own Any advice Once I open that door again with the kit and the alarm is screaming...and my new key fob from Amazon is not cut as the valet key Does it need to be cut? Will I'd be able to stick it in the ignition to go to one or two to program? Sorry such a long question
So. The whole ignition has been replaced from a Key FOB. to just chiped keys ..but did not come with an immobilizer.. The Immobilizer came from a 2004 HONDA ACCORD pull.a.part vehicle. I put it all back together . I still have the key fob that is programed to the car. The key fob unlockes the car . I tried the chipless gray valet key and the key fob to start the car but it sill isn't reading the original chip. I tried to sync the 2 other chip keys to program the immobilizer but still not working. I'm trying to avoid the HONDA DELERSHIP. and the app and plugins.
Washed my car key..honda fit key..in washer machine by accident. It worked on and off after...now the lights on key light up when you push button but it doesnt open or close the locks. Am i screwed? 150 to replace at american lock. 400 at dealer
Solution get a paper clip to hold ur key in your key chain open the door open ur glove compartment take out the broken shell the side with the chip and when you use that naked key make sure you bring the shell close enough to the ignition when u turn ur key save ur ass 200 dollars once the car turns on out that she'll back in the glove compartment and when u turn ur car off put that lonely key in your purse or murse
2004 accord only came with valet key. The valet key goes into the glove compartment but is stopped by metal stems on valet key which causes it not to lock it. Can a locksmith use the valet key and make a new key and make the new one a master key by not including the stoppers that's on the valet key
I’m having problems finding the right new case for the key for a 2011 Honda fit. I bought one on Amazon but it doesn’t fit quite right and I can’t get it closed the screw holes don’t match up and it won’t lock securely or let me put a screw in it. Does anybody know how to get a case for a 2011 Honda fit?
2009 Civic. I bought a new case that came with a blank uncut key. For some reason, my old key doesn’t have the chip you’re showing on the side, so I think the case would work, but I can’t figure out how to get the blank uncut key out. Any information would be great.
The Honda keys anger me. Such a shit 'garunteed to break' design. I have loctite and epoxy nearby. But I need it to be sturdy again but I would like to change the battery again one day.
Do you know of any ekc for the valet key? I seen one video where a guy put it in a drivers door. Then had to turn it to lock and unlock the drivers side door a bunch of times until the car unlocked. It was a certain sequence. Like 6789. 6 times to the left 7 times to the right and so on. Then after you here the unlock. You lock it. Then unlock and it will start the car. So have you ever seen or heard of this?
I have this same problem. But i tried to start the car with the broken components, OUCH!! 😡😂😂 I will be buying a new key from the dealer. I'm so sad about it
Okay so I have the chip from an old broken remote no inside components but the only key I have is the grey valet key if I buy a new key fob make it a copy of the valet key and put the chip in can I program the new remote?
Teacher Talks!!! Okay thanks read on another video people tried it with a valet key and it would stop working for some reason and they ended up having to call a locksmith
Ok I live in CT the cheapest price I got from a hardware store that does the programing was$180+ tax a bit steep right. So now I’m trying to find out how to programs one myself and get it cut

I have the actual key which fell off my original fob.... but the fobs are gone... so can i buy a new fob and program it since i do have the original key?
Hey I put a new battery in my fob the car starts everything's fine unlock the car now or open the trunk with the buttons and it won't lock the car but it unlocks the car
Ace Hardware took 25 minutes to quote me $185 for a Mazda valet key. Took it to a locksmith, a block away, who did it in under 5 minutes for $75 total.
Those transponder chips are not really hat hard to remove. One of mine was loose and one came out with a pick and just a little prying. Those chips are not all the same though. You need the correct one for the vehicle. Some operate at different frequencies, etc.
I bought 3 batteries for my 2006 Honda Accord and it works as soon as I leave the store. But the very next day when I am trying to unlock my doors it does not work. What should I do since I have a brand new battery ?
Okay guys i need help, so i bought a new key fob for 2003 honda accord and i accidentally threw away old key fob with the chip, can i be the transponder chip separately? if i get a new transponder chip, can i program it myself?
Watch this link to see how this man uses a long nose plier to twist away bits of plastic around the little transponder or chip box. He grabs pieces and twists and pulls pieces of the actual little box off until he can gently grasp the bottom of the chip where it is glued and pulls it loose. Then plus it into the spot in the new fob. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qsYxTn8Nv9w.html
I have a honda fit 2009 and there is no chip inside my key. I had my locksmith transfer it to a new shell and also had the key cut for about 10 bucks. Besides once the original screw is damaged you are really screwed. I had to eat into the plastic beacause the screw would not come off and upon insisting it got damaged.
No you cannot use a key that is simply cut. However, if you still have your valet key and you can use that to unlock the doors and start/drive the vehicle. There are a few things you cannot do with the valet keys such as unlock the glove box and trunk etc.
You need a key programmer (all keys lost) Program the new cut (fob key as the master key) The grey key is a valet key, not a master key. When you reprogram the keys, you must add all keys back in to be programmed at the same time, (the machine tells you how and when to cycle on and off
