Dropped the car off for an oil change, mentioned two broken keys. Dealer wanted $350 per key to "reprogram" and "rebuild" each one .... in the time it took to change the oil, I ordered this on amazon, package was delivered and replaced both keys. All good now. For $8 ... 99% cheaper ......

Thank you so much. I had the replacement fob sitting in my drawer for months. Today after seeing your video I decided to work on it. it was challenging to find the "transponder" on my 05 Honda CRV, then I cut it around carefully and transferred to the new case. my broken key also had some plastic parts attached to the key blade, so I removed that as well. I had to slightly car on the inner sides of the new case inner top using a blade. then both shell components snapped perfectly. The new key fob is ready under $10.

Just gotta slowly pop it out of the bracket. The new cover had no bracket, and it fits best pointing a certain direction so I had to try it a couple different ways to see which had a better fit then it worked great.

Thank you. Very useful. The back (bottom) of my fob cracked one day when starting the car (2012 FIT). I just ordered the replacement back from Honda for $4.68. The front seems okay, and they don't seem to offer that part, so cracking of the bottom must a frequently occurring problem.

Thanks for this video but the only thing that confused me was how to get the key out of the shell I had to cut the key out of the shell because it was molded into the plastic it didn’t just fall out or easy to pull out after i managed to get it out it was easy to put into the new shell. I have a 2012 Honda Civic LX

Great video!! Like a dumbass, I bought a shell cover kit on eBay, but failed to read the feedback on the seller. I rarely make that mistake. I was more interested in finding a replacement from a seller in California than from China and neglected to see the seller's crappy feedback! The shell would not snap in place, even after a dry run with transponder and key not installed. In fairness though, the seller stated he would mail me another free. Hope it works!!.

completed and all. i moved over the chip/transponder that sends signal to the car to turn on. HOWEVER, the only issue i am experiencing is programming the key remote to work. i tried the steps that show online (turn the ignition to 2, press lock, and turn the ignition to 1 (suppose to do this 4 times apparently) and still) no luck. ANY advice please??? NONE of my keys have ever been able to unlock the doors or anything. the battery works because the red light on the key remote turns on, but nothing. please help.

thank you for the video. Can you please send me the link to purchase the case on Amazon? The Honda dealer wants to charge me $120 for the key and $174 to program the transponder. I like this route much better! Knew there was a better cheaper way :-)

Hi, one question; where in the original key fob assembly is the transponder located? When my original fob cracked and wouldn't hold the blade rigid I got the replacement from Amazon. There's nothing in the instructions about taking the old assembly apart. To get the key blade completely out I'm going to have to break things apart that are glued together. I don't see anything that resembles that transponder and I worry about breaking or damaging it by trying to get the key blade down to it's naked metal form like at the beginning of your video. Can you help?

You should not have to break it to fix it. Does yours have a tiny screw at the bottom on the back of the fob (like the one Bundy shows)? What year and model is your Honda? On mine (2012 FIT), when the back of the fob is removed, the assembly holding the transponder is a unit that is box shaped and is flipped so that part faces the front of the fob. I would have to take that assembly out to remove the transponder. Wiggle the fob to separate the parts. Visit the Honda Parts page: I just ordered the back part from them for $4.68. Perhaps take the key fob to a Honda dealer or your regular mechanic for assistance? They shouldn't charge an arm and leg to put it together.

Although I finally got the case to go correctly it did require some sanding on the plastic sleeve that went around the key, it was a bit thicker than the case and would not sit completely flush causing the case not to shut on one side, nothing new considering it’s made China, still worth it because the Honda dealership does not sell the complete case without the metal key, they only sell the back part of the case separately and again for the complete case the key has to come with it,they wanted 140.00 , what a rip off.

yours was fixed in the fob? mine is too but I didnt want to break it if it wasnt going to work in the new one i ordered. was the key inside when you broke yours still a T like the one in this video?

i purchased the twin pack from your link an needless to say the kits are complete garbage.....the tiny screw went through the cheap plastic on both in only 2-3 weeks so i had to epoxy the junk together. i do not recommend the brand in the link spend a couple $$ more and get the non Chinese brand
