The Honda NX500 is the successor to the CB500X, and at Rs. 5.90 lakh, it is positioned between the KTM 390 Adventure and the Kawasaki Versys 650. Engine performance-wise, it sits very close to the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. But, why is the price of the NX500 so high? And, does the presence of an extra cylinder justifies its price tag? One thing for sure , windshield in 500X was better and face was also better . However given existence of 390 and 450 Himalayan, it's definitely not worth 2X of them . Honda should consider localisation of manufacturing this bike at least. Around 4.5-5 lac ex showroom will be true value. Areas of improvement -- bash plate under the engine. Ride quality

Completely agree on the price tag and areas of improvement. However, I’m not sure if localisation does justice to this bike. Honda tried it with the CB300R and I’m convinced they have failed miserably. Funnily enough, the India manufactured 300R unit costs more than the CBU did!! I own a 2023 model and the experience has been excruciatingly painful. No spares. No after sales.

The high price is due to your government's tariffs. It cannot be that the motorcycle costs more in India than in Europe.

@@McLarry88 it's for the reason to push the manufacturers to manufacture the bikes locally and not import them. Just confirm if there's a manufacturing plant of Honda or Suzuki or Triumph or BMW or Kawasaki that produces NX500 or high end bikes in your country. Just like Royal Enfield bikes are much cheaper in India ( conversion applied) when compared to Europe or USA . Every country has import taxes to push local manufacturing. Honda ,Suzuki,BMW, Triumph, Kawasaki should manufacture locally in the country they are selling.

@@barun9665 A company cannot manufacture in each country in which it sells, it is simply unviable. Demanding that the company manufacture in the country is very selfish on your part. The fact that the government takes a large part of the money from the sale of the motorcycle does not give you the right to criticize the company, you should blame your government, which is the one that takes the money.

It may be pricey, but Honda bikes rarely disappoint. Treat it right and it should last forever. Always have a skid plate though, just in case. Thanks for a great review. 😁

It falls short in the VFM category. Would i pay CBU rate for a product from Thailand? No! Because the factory setup is still not equal to the japanese.

Honda NX500 is gem of a bike, worth every penny. Will hardly find any complaints regarding the overall package it delivers. Honda's supreme quality is evident everywhere while riding it. Japanese engineering at its very best!!

Fact is despite being cbu nx500 is priced well but people forget that himalayan 450 and ktm 390 adventure is cheaper because of local manufacturing . So nx500 is not very costly but the competition is very cheap considering the eu / uk market as base . But question is nx500 worth twice the money ? 😅

Been an honda owner,I can tell that they produce low power(engine will last long, run smooth). There won't be any issue with respect to engine, anesthetics changing/fading colours. Other brands give more power, but compromise on quality(rusting, fading of plastics etc

@@Shreejansurya98 RE has been selling the Classic for decades in India. Obviously it has a better market hold in India. It took several generations of iterations to catch up to what Honda did in its first generation CB350. Also Honda saw 550% YoY highest in the segment by miles. In fact they not only need to expand BigWing in other cities but also upgrade the existing ones to accommodate the amount of CB350s that are coming in just for an oil change. It’s a huge success right of the bat in Honda’s books in a first generation product itself. Regarding reviews saying Honda is “trying to be RE” more like Honda has finally bought an alternative to break the monopoly RE has in 350CC segment. We consumers finally have a choice and RE now has an incentive to make a better product.

@@ssc1348 These companies are taking advantage of the reduced tax for Thailand.. so instead of manufacturing in India they manufacture in Thailand to capture both the markets.. The government stopped it to encourage manufacturing in India . Hope Honda does it soon ..
