Honda Pilot Ridgeline Cranks But Wont Start Diagnosis 

Yep, Hondas are not known for fuel pump issues but they do fail occasionally. Great video Tim.

My wifes pilot just did that cranks but doesn't start today in the Walmart parking lot. It's done this before and long story short the key wasn't sending signal to the computer and so it would not allow power to the fuel pump. I bypassed it with an add a fuse running power to the pump when the key is on and it's worked fine until now. I'll dig into it tomorrow. Thinking it’s the fuel pump also. We shall see.

Wasn't starting, so I checked the relay by just turning the key to the number two position with my head next to the relay. Heard the click, great, it works. Remove the seat and open the fuel pump cover and found the problem. A mouse had chewed through the wires that power the pump. Went to a salvage yard, pulled a plug from another truck. Replaced the plug and it's fixed.

The fuel pump saved the engine from possible death, now the owner has a chance to do the right thing. I being a crude person would use a 40Watt 12v bulb on wires, i want to see the ability to deliver power, and its a pretty effect lol :-D. i have many multimeters but they can be deceptive with there high resistance input.

This is a first Honda fuel pump failure I've seen as well. My family members own a lot of Honda's. I also work on friends' cars, which also include a lot of Honda's. In fact, I haven't seen anyone on RU-vid that have failed Honda fuel pumps. It takes a month to order Honda fuel pump because they have to restart production for the fuel pump since no one ever orders one.

Would this be the same problem with 04 Honda Odyssey

I have a 2012 pilot but when I want to turn on it does not start, only a few relays are heard on the right side, the cold truck turns on without problem but once you turn it off for a while you turn it off and it does not start until a good time passes and apparently something it cools.... can you help me

You covered a lot troubleshooting areas in one video. Honda does make some pretty bullet proof vehicles. As your well aware, when I have to replace a fuel pump in my Chevy truck you have to drop the tank. Not to mechanic friendly. I hope your doing well up there Tim.

you can run the fuel pump with you scan tool in tests there is a spot you can energize the pump for 30 seconds

I'm in Anchorage also. I drive an 06 Ridgeline with 165k miles. Yesterday leaving my neighborhood coming to a red light my truck stalled. Wouldnt start right away but started after 5 minutes of sitting. Got me to where I was going but ran a little rougher than normal. Tried to leave destination and stalled in the parking spot. Started up and stalled again right before pulling onto Huffman; pushed her back into a parking spot and sat for 30 minutes. Started up and got me about 100 yards away and stalled again. Got towed home. Now she wont start at all, just cranks. I checked all battery connections and cleaned off all the grounds and the positive terminal. Still no start. Bought a fuel pump from Oriellys and going to swap that out right after checking for fuel pressure. Not sure how to check that without a proper kit, but going to find a way.

Great fix for the Honda. People love living dangerously, maybe an adrenaline rush.

so what does it mean when someone says the that the crank does not start

I got a question what would cause it not to have no spark cuz it's got fuel and everything else but it just doesn't get no spark and it won't come out of park with your foot on the brake turns over and everything but won't get no spark to turn on

some times its good to load the circuit a head light bulb Delphi is good they were formed around 2000 ac delco now is not all gm parts hey we have world pack in ny! at least you didn't have to drop a full tank never did a Honda fuel pump we have e 10 gas here

Change the belt & water pump before you put a new fuel pump in it... to ensure that it won't break when the engine starts! =)

I have a 03 Pilot, I have a cranking but no start issue. I was driving the car and engine just shut off??? what I have verified so far: timing belt is good, 60 psi fuel pressure, good spark, good injector pulse, swapped out a main relay from a different running pilot. car cranks strong but will not start??? Any HELP PLEASE ...
