I have this exact issue with my 06 Acura TL, hoping it’s an easy fix. Thank you

first change the inlet and outlet o-rings to the pump , before condemning the PS pump.

There was a lot of diagnosing done off camera including checking the O rings to and from the power steering pump. I returned the power steering pump because it was under warranty and I received a new one. I don't think companies just send you new parts under warranty if the part is not actually faulty. This replacement was what was needed to fix the air leak and I have not had a single problem since. Thanks for the tip.

People seem to get “bubbles” confused with the power steering fluid moving around in the reservoir while started… i was told the fluid is supposed to be moving around in the reservoir while the engine is started (by two mechanics calling around today), but, there shouldn’t be bubbles??? … I wish there wasn’t so much carbon build up in my engine bay would be much more simple to check for small leaks … been OCDing over this issue the past couple days with my 2005 Honda Civic ex.. no crazy loud noises or anything yet just some small little squeaks … it’s been about 100 degrees outside this last week and maybe im just not used to driving in the super hot weather… either way it’s going to the shop first thing Monday :/

There definitely should not be any bubbles in the fluid but remember a leak can be that the fluid is coming out of one of the hoses or the air is leaking into the system through one of the hoses or a loose clamp. Hope it works out for you once you take your car to the shop.

@@automotiveobsession7265 turned out to be front breaks, but still going to need a power steering flush probably sometime soon; I guess one of the control arms ripped too which is next on the list (Firestone tried to upsell me big time and had to run around all day to get the job done myself) quoted me 400 for front breaks, (1,700$ total for 2 control arms, break flush, pads and rotors) … no calipers… I ended up doing it for 220$, Firestone also quoted me 200 for each control arm when they are 40-50$ online w/ shipping … so I left Firestone after they did my break flush, after I got the car back I saw that Firestone turned my car Inside out going through all my paperwork, sruff that was in the bottom of the cup holder was than on top of it, plastic thing that was on my cigarette lighter port was taken off, like they were looking for drugs or some shit, def a lot more shady crap going on these days. I had them replace break fluid I should have done myself, they really didn’t do it right, took me 20 min of driving to get an air bubble out to get pressure on the break peddle again and to tell ABS still worked.. oooooof.

From the outside of my 2010 accord coupe 2.4L the power steering fluid is bubbling, it's not level while the car is on, why is that? It's a new P/S pump & there's an annoying whining when I rev it, anyone?

If the fluid is bubbling most likely there is air leaking into the system by a hose, loose clamp, etc. The power steering fluid should be checked with the car off to get a more accurate reading. The other possible cause could just be a faulty pump even if it’s new because that exact same thing happened to me.

@automotiveobsession7265 Thanks, I was told it could possibly be the rack in pinion, what do u think? it's not small bubbles that you'd normally see if there were air in there, I'm talking about it's like boiling/bubbling & u can see it from the outside since it's a clear reservoir. Also do you think the whining sound is from that maybe, have something to do with the boiling power steering fluid? When I rev it in Park or Neutral it does it & when I drive aswell but you cant hear it as much, I know for sure it's not the serpentine belt or pulleys because I tried it with the serpentine belt off & it still did it so that eliminates that anyways. Any thoughts?

It could be a bad power steering pump if you already check every hose to see if there is any air leaking into the system.

What AM pump replacement do you recommend? Wasn’t sure if OEM are available now.

Hello, not sure what you meant by AM pump but if it was a type O for what other pump I would recommend then I would recommend the new pumps on the rockauto website. I replaced it a while ago and it has not caused me any problems what so ever.
