You guys are absolutely right! For most people that don't tow, work on a construction site, the Ridgeline will handle every pick up task with ease. The problem is, buyers are buying an image along with too much truck that they will never need or use. I ought to know, I live in Texas and every day on my commute, I see these oversized behemoths lumbering about.

I've heard some people say of comfortable trucks that "it doesn't ride like a truck", and I'm pretty sure that just translates to "It should ride terribly when unloaded because that's how it was in the olden days"

As a dog owner this truck seems so good. If I don’t want him scratching the backseats or fur issues, I could just lift up the back seats and let him roam. It’s perfect.

I’ve owned big diesel trucks and do love them. I just bought a 19 Ridgeline due to high prices of fuel and cost of a diesel right now is not really the right move right now. I love the Ridgeline it tows what I need it to do and it’s comfortable.

If you are not going off-road this is a great vehicle. My wife has a 2019 with 30,000 miles and nothing wrong. She bought the RTL-E which has leather amd she loves the refined interior. The ride is great on highway and that engine and six speed come to life when you put your foot into it. AWD is so good, faster you go safer it feels. Weak points: infotainment sucks, ours even lacks a volume knob. And if you want to go off-roading, get a Taco. Otherwise this is a great vehicle. I like the look of this front better than ours but ours has a real transmission shift level and I like our six speed instead of new nine speed.

I have the red '21 Ridgeline RTL. Great ride, back doors actually open now, great! Old front end was fine...I wanted a 6 speed and front wheel drive but waited too long. We picked up a 2021 Ridgeline RTL-E back in April, and it's been perfect for our needs. I still question whether we need a truck in the first place (my wife was the one who wanted one), since I've only actually used the bed twice since we've owned it, but it's nice that we have that capability, and in the meantime it's great in just normal driving. I have thought about using it to tow my sports car, a 2020 MX-5, which it could do perfectly well, but I'm also conscious that when I sell the Miata to get a new sports car, I have to be aware that it has to stay fairly lightweight if I want to stay within the towing capacity of the Ridgeline. First world problems, I know!

Point 1, most campers under 21 feet weigh less than 5000lbs (case in point my 17ft 2020 Coleman with both fresh and grey/black tanks full and max cargo tips the scales at 3900lbs, and it is only 3100 empty, and a KZ Sportsman 191BHK is 4000lbs fully loaded). Point 2, the J2807 towing test that determines tow rating has a number of components, including one that is conducted in Arizona, on an 11.4 mile 6% grade, and is only conducted in ambient temperatures of 100 degrees or higher with the AC on max to determine if the engine or transmission throw a code or overheat. Additionally, tests are performed doing hill starts in forward and reverse on a 12% grade, with 5 consecutive starts and 16 foot pulls being conducted in less than 5 minutes. A battery of other tests are also performed. My point, unless the temperature in Asheville last week was over 100 degrees and the hill was an 11.4 mile 6% grade (and the Airstream wasn't made of lead), that Airstream was likely not pushing the Honda to its limits. Also notable, the Honda actually pulled more than 6000lbs on the hill components of the J2807, however the J2807 bases the assigned rating on the lowest weight any one test was completed with, in the case of the Honda it was the braking tests that limited it. So slap a trailer brake controller on the pre-wired connection under the dash, insert the fuse in the appropriate spot under the hood, and enjoy more than 5000lbs of towing ability (with the understanding that exceeding the 5000lbs limit on the door sticker means your insurance won't cover you in an accident).

I bought a 21 RTL-E and love it. What helped me make my decision is that I own a 04 Tacoma 4x4 TRD Offroad. Amazing off road but the 6 years I've owned it I rarely went off-roading. When I drive in winter weather I have to constantly pay attention to use the 4wd - below 50 mph, low range, lock the rear diff - oh crap I've hit dry pavement. Ridgeline AWD - just be careful.

HERE IS MY BIG BEEF: So I test drove one of these, a sport model with HPD package. I prefer cloths seats in my trucks, so I was super happy with this 'base' trim. HOWEVER, the front driver seat is 'manual'. Which turns out sucks. Why? When you raise the seat, the seat moves forward. I'm 6'4" tall, and there is so much headroom that I want/can sit with the seat raised up - better view and better thigh support... BUT because the seat moves forward when I move it up, it kills the legroom. So the seat MUST BE all the way down to get enough leg room. This puts the seat at a weird angle. - Right after the test drive, I went and sat in a higher trim level. It had the leather power seats. OMG, the difference is massive. I can move the seat "straight up", AND I can adjust the level of the seat. SO MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE. - Why Honda, WHY!!! Don't you offer the power seats in cloth on the base trim? At least on the Drivers side?!!?? - I am going to spend the extra $3,000 because the power seats ARE JUST THAT MUCH BETTER.... - Sigh...

an inch wider track with 255 rubber on 20 inch wheels and a 1.5-2 inch lift would completely change this. It's far from ugly but the tires look... small and awkward. Other than that it's a very compelling product for someone who would get a small truck but prioritizes taking the kids. I think previously though, most people just bought a base 150 with the 2.7 - but those have gone up how much in price in the last 2 years???

Timely video. Here's why the Ridgeline will be my next truck: - Tacoma: Terrible ergonomics. I simply refuse to pay $40k+ for something that hurts to sit in. Terrible view out the front. The seating position is so low, and the hood is so high, you are looking into the next county when you look out over the hood. Keep in mind, this kills me. As I reeeeeeeallllly wanted my next truck to have a stick - and the Tacoma is only one of two that offers one. - Frontier: Nissan build quality. Beyond that, the cap feels cramped. Both in the front and the back - especially the back. And the back seat 'storage' is terrible compared to the Ridgeline's super open and square storage. - Colorado: I want my truck to last longer than three years. - Ranger: It's not a midsize truck, it's a small full size truck. I'm 6'-4" and I can't access the bed from the sides, it's too dam tall. I'll be dammed if I'm going to crawl up and into the bed every time I want to get something out of it. Also, it's an old truck. Sure the 10 speed trans is new, but the actual truck was sold in Australia for the past 10 years - and it shows. - Santa Cruz: The "bed" is a joke. In real life it's just un-usabley tiny. You'd be better off just putting some rubber mats in the back of an SUV. - Maverick: Edit: Saw one of these in person today. Dam it's small. Both in the cab, and the bed. The bed is only 4'-6" AND the wheel wells take up a ton of space. The funky interior is very cool though. (Wasn't able to drive it, as it was already sold..) - FYI, I am currently driving 'the perfect truck'. It's a last gen, 2011, Ford Ranger extended cab. It has a SIX FOOT bed AND A MANUAL. Dam, the lack of a manual these days... really the only (massive) sore spot I have with the Ridgeline. - - My issues with the 2021 Ridgeline (for fun): 1) Cloth seats are the best truck seats - WHY CAN'T WE HAVE A POWER DRIVER'S SEAT ON THE BASE MODEL?!?!?!? 2) I really don't care for "digital number speedometers". I like to see a full round gauge with a needle. 3) No stick... damm, just damm... I heard a rumor they are thinking about making a "Type R Ridgeline" - with a stick!!! Oh man, I could not cut a check fast enough for that.... (Honda, if you do put a stick in a Type R version, please consider making a stick an optional upgrade on the base/sport trim. I'd gladly pay $2,000 for a manual option.. So would every Type R owner. You know, those Honda enthusiasts who love the Type R would like the same 'manual joy' from their Type R in their Ridgeline Type R)....

2024 Black Edition should haven included ACC with stop and go, 360cam or at least a front trail cam, center front parking sensors, passenger seat height adjustment, hill descent control... hopefully when they redo the ridgeline they include these.. also it should have over 8 inches of ground clearance and the cargo bed should be at least 20 inches deep...and get us another inch or two in rear seat leg room. all this would make the Ridgeline a perfect vehicle.

I hate that Honda keeps sending out these stripped down sport models with the $3,000+ HPD package. They should send out RTL-E models or Black Editions with more features.

In an interesting quirk, for those that do only tow 1 or 2 times a year (say hauling a camper to and from an RV park in the Spring and Fall) they would save significant money on gas, insurance, depreciation, etc. to buy a smaller vehicle (even a smaller truck like the new Maverick) and just rent a full-size (or borrow one from someone) those 2 times per year.
