Very intelligently spoken and described. You are like Mr Wizard... As time goes forward, very few people left will have any clue about these vintage Japanese carbs.... Nice ! Amazing how Keihin's engineers figured all this out...

You do an excellent job of explaining these unique carbs. I may have sold my '81 Accord SE, but your video brings back all the great memories of that blasted contraption. When I got it, both fuel cutoff solenoids had died, choke wouldn't operate, cold idle wouldn't engage, AC fast idle wouldn't engage, and secondary throttle wouldn't open. I had so many vacuum issues on that car it was amazing. I wish I had your video 5 years ago! I'm ready for part 2 and 3!! Cheers!!

I had one brewing but it kinda went sour on me! Hard to explain but suffice to say I DO plan on doing part 2... I'll try and get to it a little sooner though, I'm just glad SOMEONE is actually watching...it's pretty dry stuff!

Thanks for this video. I have a 1987 Civic 1.5 that has been sitting for 5 years that i almost managed to get started last night going to mess with the choke to hopefully get it started.

Not sure if you ever made a part 2 but would love to see it if you did. I am getting ready to rebuild the one in my '80 4 door next week and can use all the help I can get. I'm working on a carb that looks pretty much exactly like yours on an '80 Civic wagon. Looking forward to part 2! Fuel continues to dribble into the main cavity after the engine and pump are off, and doesn't run well (too much fuel, I think). Anyway, thanks for these videos. I love my old Honda!

One other note/ thought... I remember many years ago, a fellow using a one bbl carb off a Dodge slant six on a Toyota Hilux pickup. I think it was an 18RC engine. he made an aluminum spacer plate and adapted it to that motor.... It ran ok, but he mentioned he lost a couple mpg. The slant six was 225 cubes , the Hilux motor was not much more than half that. It may have been too rich.. I don't know... but I thought it was interesting, the fellow just could not comprehend the Japanese carb. Not sure what it was, maybe an Aisin....

Hello! Thank you for this video! I was wondering if you had any experience or tips on adjusting the needle valves for these carbs, without the Honda float gauge tool? I have a '77 with this same carb and I cannot get it to run right. It floods and floods. The carb is rebuilt by national carburetor and in perfect shape. And advice would be so very appreciated!!

Do you have an alternative solution for the molded rubber insulator used for Keihin 3 Barrel carburetor?It was used on the 1983-1987 Honda CRX HF 1.5 engines. It appears this is no longer available or sold anywhere. What would you use as a reliable solution for carburetor insulator or base plate w/o vacuum leaks? "Keihin carburetor is the molded rubber insulator that sits under the carb. The insulator has a reputation for being a source of troublesome vacuum leaks." (the rubber base plate that the Keihin3 barrel carb is bolted onto)I hope to hear from you soon

Can you help me in possibly leave me in the right? I have a 1980 Honda Civic it starts right up perfectly but after about five minutes of being warm if I tap on the gas it will stall out and not start for another hour

have you made a part 2 yet? I have a Carb i already rebuilt and reinstalled but i need to adjust it. It has 6 set screws and everytime i tune one of them it throws the last one off again. I guess there is an order to tune them in but i cant find anything online
