Hello everyone and welcome back to the channel and most of all, welcome to another VFR video! It has been a little while since the last one.
In this video I will be demonstrating how to remove every piece of the bodywork on the bike including the fuel tank.
I hadn't originally intended to do a video on this subject however I have received numerous comments from several people that have specifically asked for this very video, so here it is.

I thought this was a fake video until I saw the skinned knuckle! At that point I realised that this happens to me nearly time I do some maintenance on my 2007 VFR so this video must the real thing.

I love the way you are thorough in your demonstrations, how you actually show us the screws to see the difference between them and where they go, like the screws for the bodywork for example. I have recently done a lot of work on my 2004 VFR including the valve clearances, following your 3 part video on that job, excellent by the way! Other jobs as well like new front seals and bushings for the front forks, new chain, and sprockets. So having the bodywork dismantled for a little time, you tend to forget where which screw goes where, so your thoroughness saves me time to get the screws or whatever it might be in its proper place without having to refer back to the manual. Super helpful! Thank You!

Hi Kev. I have a 2003 vfr800 and its not running properly. Have carried out service. Air,oil and fuel filter with iridium plugs. Still not right. 21150 miles on the clock. Previous plugs were black indicating over fueling. Would a compression check help to diagnosis a possible cam or lifter fault as I know this could be pricey. Keep the videos coming. Many thanks.

Thanks Kev. My 2002 VFR was dropped by a previous owner and I haven't got around to repairing the damage yet. Looks straightforward to take off the headlight assembly.

Dragging this clip up because I want to say a huge thanks Kev. Last week I bought a '98 VFR with just 24k on the clock. Today I wanted to strip it down and give it the XCP Clear Coat treatment. Watched your video last night and whilst there are a couple of differences, it made the job so much easier and I didn't even open my Haynes manual. Those push in plastic fasteners are 'fun' to get back in! My bike is black, so spotting the holes on the inside was not easy! Thanks again👍

Thanks for the video nice and clear with nothing left out, now to find somewhere to get the top windscreen lug repaired as it was broken and someone bodged it so need someone who knows what they are doing to fix it for me as fiberglass work is not my thing, I live near leicester so if anyone know anywhere thats good with this sort of thing let me know, once again great video many thanks for taking the time to post useful content.

Followed along and had good results. Thought I had it licked but after sitting over winter the rear brake is quite mushy. I guess I miss some air somewhere. Will need to try again! Thanks Kev!

Kev this was a god send. Thanks so much! I’m pretty handy and figured I could do a full fairing replacement myself. Got the back and sides off fine, but when I got to the front fairing I quickly realized I was in trouble. Thanks to your video I was able to figure out where I was going wrong and finish the job. Amazingly helpful video!

Hello, the plexiglass screen can be brought back to clear, one is to wet sand with 3000 grit. The other option is to use Meguiar's PlastX by hand or with a mini machine polisher as in my round photograph. Slow speed, no heat no pressure, it will cut. I use a 1" mini microfiber pad. Good luck.

Thanks Kev. Your vids on the VFR give me a bit more confidence when I need to pull the bike apart. Rather do it myself than check it into Honda. Not a fan of the plastic push pins….

Wow.., thank you very much. My son and I are currently working on my 07 VFR (it’s been parked for 10 years). This video is a big help! We pulled the gas tank to flush it out and now the bike won’t start. The fuel pump isn’t priming and the FI light is on. Do you have any videos (or advice) on troubleshooting fuel pump not priming? Thanks agin for this video., you make the process look very simple:)

This is exactly why I'm here! Mines been stood a little while and now the fuel pump isn't priming when I turn the ignition on. Bound to be relatively simple electrical issue 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hi, very nice video. i follow youstep to remove the fairing. i found that there is a 2pin cable(wire color: orange and green) near the right side fuse box that is not connected. do you know what is it for and where it should connect? thank you for your effort.

Hi, Just got a VFR Vtech and your videos are great, thank you! Have subbed! I was wondering if you could maybe 'shed' some light on the givi model of the top and in particular the side pannier frames you have. I seem to only be able to find the side frames that curve under the exhausts and then limit you to 2 different givi pannier models the v35 and v35, seems a lot of sites show the straight frame but the info states compatible for vn35 and 7 so are in fact the curved ones. I already have normal givi pannier and hoping to get the straight side frames. Is the top frame the normal one for the vtech (Givi 166FZ). Ironically the givi page of the 166fz shows the straight sides but no info. Thank you!

Hi Kev. Fantastic video. Has made the removal of the side panels a lot less daunting. My VFR fell onto it's right side and now there are drops of what appears to be coolant dripping from nearer the rear of the bike towards the rear shock. It only occurs when the bike is running. Nothing leaks when the bike is switched off. Don't suppose you have any suggestions for the likely culprit do you? Before I start tearing her down... It's not coming from any breather pipe. Hey Kev. Watching your videos. I just bought a VFR 800 because of your videos. Very detailed info. I have a quick question. I fell ( nothing major) but after that the coolant temp shows dashes. I was trying to find the coolant sensor but couldn’t find it. Can you give me some pointers? Is there a reset or something to de with bank sensor? Thank you

Hi mate. Your video has been a godsend as I stripped my VFR for repaint and put it back together again. One question, what size are the 3 bolts on the front mudguard? Think I've lost mine.

Hey chap, thanks for the kind comments. I wasn't sure if you meant the 4 that hold the actual front fender onto the forks which are shouldered 6mm bolts www.fowlersparts.co.uk/parts/5058659/vfr8003-2003-e/front-fender or if you meant the ones that go through the blocks on the brake pipes which are 6mm but 25mm long www.fowlersparts.co.uk/parts/5058654/vfr8003-2003-e/fr-brake-master-cylinder-vfr800 hope this helps bud. 👌

If you’ve used copper washers previously, they can be annealed and reused, aluminium washers however cannot.

I have a hand held vacuum pump which I use to transfer fuel into a can. It’s pretty cheap. I’ll find you a link to the one I have, one sec 👍🏻

Fuel pressure regulator nut is 27nm. Fuel rail bolts 10 nm. Fuel hose pipe union bolt AND nut 22nm. Fuel pump mounting plate nuts 12 nm.

Kev, why in God's name did Honda use different sized screws in the front panels? Every time I change the oil on my 07 I question the logic. Do you know if you can buy the style of body fasteners used on race bikes? Would be convenient

I know, it is a bit of a pain to correctly remember where each different type of screw goes! I assume that you mean Deuz Fasteners, they can be made to fit but need the receivers on the inside for them to fit into. I have them on my Trackday R1.

(Real men’s vid with lots of gore 😝) Was watching your vid on how to replace indicator bulbs ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HVLvEmL9wv8.html first as I want to do a little upgrade: my 2003 VFR800 doesn’t have a warning/ alarm function (and switch).. so I bought a ‘4-way micro LED flash set’ to add these in the indicators housing. This video will help me a lot when i take apart my VFR 😇 Cheers!!
