Have the same cycle, year, colour, c model. A joy to ride, lovely to look at. No end of compliments, especially from non-riders, who see it as just a beautiful machine.
They do feel a lot lighter than they really are. I went from an 1100 Shadow to one of these and it feels about the same weight and it's actually heavier. They have great power and handling.
He really is spot on with his critique of the bike. Besides how uncomfortable the factory seat is on my 2009 Retro, it's a comfortable and easy bike for tooling around. 👍🏽👍🏽
I have an 06, same model and color. I made a couple of mods; added RIVCO handlebar risers to move the handlebars back a tad and added Leatherlyke saddle bags. My next mod will be a custom seat with backrest to give my back some support. Overall, I am very pleased with the handling and performance.
Great share. Wondering: Did you get different handlebars, and do you think that these same risers would work for a 09 Retro? Also, do you still have that bike? 🙄😐
I ride a 2008 1300 C and I love the bike. I agree with one of the other commenters that the stock seat don't get it if you are a big fella (5'11' 285 lbs) and have switched over to a nice Mustang seat with the added air cushion. My one complaint is with the high beam indicator light. At night that blue beam is like a spot light that penetrates into your very soul. It is a quick fix with a piece of tape but gawd awful without the tape.
I am 6'2 and 220. Would that bike fit me okay ? Update: I owned 2 1800 S models before and they were outstanding in every way. The 1300 R does not really fit me with the stock seats. Mechanically and performance wise it is fine. A nice after market seat costs quite a bit. I am meeting with a seat builder to see if he can modify the stock seat. Just a word of caution to potential buyers who are big guys.
Big guys watch out. The 1800 VTX fits big and tall just fine, not the 1300. I had to buy an Ultimate X big boy seat for $320 to be able to ride my 1300R for more than 10 minutes. Now, the bike is fine for me.
