My honest ;) first impressions and opinion on Honest Amish Beard Oil and Balm.
Me on Twitter: / jonny_ks
Products I mention in the video (That I've actually tried. I haven't used Beard Brand products yet):
Biker Brand - www.etsy.com/shop/BikerBrand?... (I like the Easy Rider scent)
Badass Beard Care:
Oil - badassbeardcare.com/beard-oils/
Balm - badassbeardcare.com/beard-balm/ (I like the Patriot scent for both, but also haven't tried any of their other scents)
Honest Amish:
Oil - www.amazon.com/Honest-Amish-C...
Balm - www.amazon.com/Honest-Amish-B...
Products I don't mention by name, but do use in the video (and daily):
Wooden Beard Comb - www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01...
Boar Hair Brush - www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01...
The Man Comb - www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00... (Jury is still out on this one. It's my first plastic comb. It's in my pocket daily and I use it frequently, but I have another plastic comb that comes highly recommended by other bearded guys being delivered soon that I'd like to compare it to.)
Shot on my Google Pixel XL
Edited with AVS4You on PC (If you're a creator who uses a PC, please feel free to let me know of better inexpensive editing software. This software has worked alright for my needs, but gave me WAY too much trouble while preparing this video. I'm just doing this as a hobby for now and can't afford to invest in the best software, but want something basic that's reliable.)

Jon J. yeah ya do. You're a natural on camera, but I imagine a lot of that stems from years of doing theatre. personally I'm dying to get out and fly my new drone.. we're on tap to have the worst winter in Idaho history and are currently 6" shy of breaking the local snowfall record. With another storm moving in tonight, it's bound to happen. ugh! Hey, maybe you and I can get with Leonard & do a round table discussion about the upcoming Mobile World Conference, that'd be pretty cool. He's supposed to touch base with me today or tomorrow, I'll mention it to him if you're interested.

I just bought a couple things by Honest Amish like this beard oil. Im just starting out using this stuff. Ive been growing my beard out for about 6ish weeks and its just beginning to take shape. This video has really shed some light and "instructions" for me moving foreward. Great job with this video!!

Happy to help! It's a journey, for sure. As stated in the video, I've grown my beard out every winter for a while now. I've definitely learned new tricks each time and continue to do so. I purposely left out the more specific stuff because there are plenty of videos on here where guys explain their routine and they're all very similar. Do you have an ultimate goal in mind?
@jakehellested8950
@jakehellested8950 7 лет назад
To be honest I'm just going for it I do not have any timed goal in peticular, however while I am in college I hope to grow a yeard just to say I did

+jake hellested That's how I started a few years ago. Just stopped using my trimmer to see how it'd grow out. I'm not sure I have the guts to go for a true yeard with no trimming. I like to do some maintenance on it once in a while & don't know that my employer would go for a more unkempt look. My initial goal this year was to just surpass my personal best length. Now that I've done that, I'd like to get it to the length where it hides my neck from the front, but we'll see if I make it that far this time. I'm still optimistic about it & at this point last year, I was ready to trim it down.

The Wal-Mart where live stopped carrying Honest Amish a few months ago. I literally bought the last bottle on the shelf. I like it. But I had a mishap that resulted in the entire bottle spilling out in my back pocket. So I ordered a new bottle on Amazon, but I decided to try the Premium. After trying Premium Honest Amish I cant recommend their entry level oil. The entry level oil is thicker and leaves a more oily feeling. The Premium Oil gets absorbed by the hair and skin, and doesn’t feel oily and heavy. My favorite go-to oil so far is Port Products, Beard Absolute. It’s a very lite oil and it leaves no oily feeling. It makes your hair flow naturally. And it has a nice but subtle citrus scent from the grapefruit oil.

Thanks for the feedback. I make these videos as a hobby & can't afford to invest in fancy equipment at this time. We've moved since this video was shot though, so all bets are off on how the lighting will be if/when I do another. Since posting this, I've tried MANY different brands, but I've circled back around to Honest Amish.

I just bought this the other day (just the balm) and I think the scent I smell is clove. Sort of a clove sweet tobacco scent, you know? I have trouble growing hair on the cheeks of my face, but my neck and sideburns grow in pretty nicely, any suggestions?

I'm in the process of regrowing my beard after a bad trim and a terrible decision to start over, but I'll keep them in mind when I get enough length back to need more oil. I've still got a decent drawer full that I'm using sparingly on occasion when it gets itchy, but it'll likely last a while.

r u still using the Honest Amish beard oil? and if so any long term pros and/or cons? What is the smell of the oil compared to the honest Amish balm?
@thoughtlessjon
@thoughtlessjon 6 лет назад
Skidz1818 I'm in the process of regrowing my beard, but I have a large collection of oils & balms now, so I haven't used just one for more than a few days at a time. I like to switch it up. The HA oil scent is quite similar to the HA balm accent.

hamad 9 It helps to manage the beard you have. It won't help you grow anything more or faster.

Jon Johnson came across your video really like it. I had got the honest Amish oil and balm a couple days ago before seeing this video and I love the product.. I saw in the video you were trying to describe the scent It was bugging me too what it smelled like. I think it has a liquorish smell what do you think ?

Please John, I want to know how long the results show, because I have spaces in my beard,I have been using the beard oil for two weeks.6 drops are enough?
@thoughtlessjon
@thoughtlessjon 6 лет назад
M H beard oil isn't going to make hair grow where it doesn't grow. It's only real job is to confirm the hair & make it softer & more manageable.

Are you still using the Honest Amish Beard Oil? I have some and used it for a couple weeks. Now I'm worried that the Pumpkin Seed Oil in the product is counterproductive to growing beards. Supposedly Pumkin Seed Oil blocks DHT, the hormone we want for our beards.
@thoughtlessjon
@thoughtlessjon 7 лет назад
I still use it on occasion. After uploading this video, I went on a buying spree. I now have 15-20 oils and about as many balms. That's the first I've heard that about Pumpkin Seed Oil. I can't say that Honest Amish is still in my top 3 favorites at this time. I do use it once in awhile, but I've found others that I like better for different reasons (feel of my beard, "hold", scent, etc).

Tai Banh I've it used down there before, not sure how well it keeps up a shape if you will but it's a good way to add a better sent in that area, if you know what I mean.

Does this help for growth?
@thoughtlessjon
@thoughtlessjon 6 лет назад
Mats Thømt any oil is going to help keep the hair healthy & avoid split ends, which will theoretically help it grow.
@matsernn
@matsernn 6 лет назад
Jon Johnson Thanks for answer mate!
@thoughtlessjon
@thoughtlessjon 6 лет назад
Mats Thømt No problem. Also, if you're concerned is thin spots, oils & balms aren't going to do much for you. They help the hair you have & your skin, but won't make hair grow where it isn't already.
