I've taken to comparing them to soda in the 80s. This new guy is "New Coke". Same general product but just.... Bad. They need to quit dicking about and just bring back the guy that used to do them both and currently does regular honest trailers.

I just keep shooting shotgun bombs and grenades at them while dodging. I only lost to a Marauder twice throughout my Ultra-violence playthrough except for the annoying 30 second secret encounter, that took me a lot of tries.

Or just Dodge, ballista, supershotgun, ballista

some things were wonky, mostly story beats, but otherwise this is an almost perfect improvment. He keeps complaining about how hard the game is but hugo even said it himself "we dont mind agrivating the player as long as we can teach them", so obviously he aint learning

@@Gwar-Deth how is this a Unreal knockoff? Wtf? Have you even played DE or Unreal? DEs mechanics are revolutionary in parts and the combat is uncomparable because of them. (I played verything from oldchool Doom, Unreal, Blood to Halo, Half Life or Fear)

Exactly, the challenge one gave me a trouble, the rest of them were fine. I've personally hated the Archvile much more.

I had to look up how to kill him in time, and after that all marauders were fairly easy. He still wrecks the demon killing spree, though

I accidentally found that if you just give up fighting him and climb the wall to the next level, he'll despawn and that will count as beating him.

jpc1918 heck no, he easy as hell (pun intended), I save my crucible ammo for the archviles and even if it could work again the marauders I would still save them for the goddamn archviles

Oh please, back in Doom 2016, most people were asking why there was even a story, despite it not even being in your face, and it wasn't just casual fans. It was that 95% of the Doom fanbase. I guess we're just talking a different fanbase now.

Honestly, I don't know why people complain so much. Yeah, it'd be nice if the cutscenes weren't so long, or if they could be skipped, but I honestly liked the fact that there was more to the story the 2nd time around. Because he's technically experiencing the events of the 1st & 2nd game again, but this time with literal Godmode on.

The marauder is a fun challenge, not a pacebreaker. its like when new weapons or content is added to a multiplayer game and it feels too op until people figure out how to combat it.

Remote bombing his ass work well too.

You can also ballista mobile turret him for some ez chunk

Took me several minutes before I decided it doesn't work just like how I'd stagger them and be so close you'd swear we're lovers and I try the sword with him still staggered and nothing is done at all. They made a stupid OP enemy just because they wanted something to match the players, the average ones at least

There wasn’t anything wrong with them. In order fight them you have to do the things you have to do to be good at the game. Mobility,Timing,proper weopon use etc

on normal difficulty you can drop a maurader with 2 locked on rocket hits when they do their green flash, it's pretty ez

I still prefer the 2016. Sure the eternal brought some mechanics that really makes the game more active and franctic, amazing But the at the same time it changed some things that i personally think it was downgrade. The extra life (you can remove it at least), the story is much worse and unecessary longer (i'm in for story, but that one, nah), the beggining set up was "what the hell is going on, who are those cultists, how did i end up here, what is this fortress...." that many of them arent even answered. Game got cartoonish on same ways, it is style sure, i prefer the 2016. Some parts make us feel like playing mario with rotating poles floating in the air for no reason at all just so you can use it. The song....the song is not bad at all, still great, but common, cant deny 2016 is better, bfg division??

They're easy but i wouldn't call them fun. I just kill everything else and then run of to the other end of the Arena, dodge his Throwing Axe and wait until he comes running towards me. Then just SSG and Ballista. It's not really fun.

It's not that he's difficult, it's that the entire design of that fight runs completely counter to every other fight in the game, including boss fights. With every other enemy, you have pretty much complete freedom on how you want to engage them and what weapons you can use to take them out. With the Marauder there's like, two valid strategies. (The one you pointed out, and I've also had decent success with well placed remote detonated rockets and grenades.) It's not hard, but it's also just not fun.
