Honest Try: Jack's "Lazy Man's Lava Cake" 

I am always in absolute awe how Jack manages to make his Lazy Man's recipes at times even more complicated than the normal recipe would be. Waiting +3hrs for a lava cake is... hilarious. If you want to get lava cakes in 30 minutes instead, I got you (they are also vegan so you don't have to worry about raw egg mixture): 200g flour 40g dark cocoa powder ~80g sugar (your choice if you prefer white or brown one) 1tsp baking powder or soda 240ml water 80ml vegetable oil (use anything mild or melt butter or margerine(?), just stay away from olive oil and such) 1tsp apple vinegar (or another mild vinegar, it is only for activating the baking powder, you won't taste it) 1. Mix all dry ingredients, then add the wet ones - make sure to add the vinegar last - and mix fast 2. Pour into cupcake/muffin tin or something similar, it should make around 6 cakes 3. Bake at around 180°C (preheated in a fan oven, otherwise add 20°C) for about 20 minutes. Works for me every time. (If you deal in Imperials and Fahrenheit: the internet will gladly help you convert.)

I was wondering how you managed to pull off the masaoki mouthcam in your other video with what I assume is a phone that's used for recording. Masao had this cute pocket camcorder where the viewfinder had to double as a mouth handle from what I remember. These are the proper chef techniques they don't teach you in culinary school, very impressive.

Another interesting video, mate.

ACTUAL lava cakes literally take 5 ingredients and 20 minutes start to finish. This "lazy" way is _more_ work than the original! This is my own recipe: - ½ cup unsalted butter - 6 ounces dark chocolate, chopped (try to get a very good quality chocolate) - 2 large eggs - 2 large egg yolks - ¼ cup granulated sugar - pinch of salt - 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour - (optional, but highly recommended) pinch of espresso powder 1. Preheat the oven to 450F. 2. Butter and lightly flour 6 (4- to 5-ounce) ramekins and place them on a baking sheet. 3. Combine the butter and chocolate in a double boiler and melt over low heat, stirring until smooth. Or, place the butter and chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high, stirring every 20 seconds until melted. Whisk together until smooth. (DO NOT OVERHEAT or it will seize!) 4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the eggs, egg yolks, sugar, and salt. Beat on medium speed until mixture is thick and pale yellow. 5. Fold the chocolate mixture and flour into the egg mixture until well combined. (*Try not to overmix, go until you don't see any powdery bits of flour anywhere) 6. Divide the batter among the prepared ramekins. 7. Bake for 6 to 8 minutes or until the sides of the cakes are set, but the center is jiggly. Cheesecake rules, basically. 8. Let the cakes cool in the ramekins for a couple minutes. 9. Put ramekin upside down on a plate and flip it over, then wait for about 10 seconds. Lift the ramekin and the cake should come out. (Or you can leave them in, but turning them out makes a more impressive presentation) 10. You gotta serve them hot! I like to add my homemade raspberry sauce on top, my fiance prefers a dollop of peanut butter. Fruit, powdered sugar, top it with whatever you like! Hope you all try it!

If you liked this you should try Australian Chocolate Pudding. Unlike American pudding, Australian choccy pud is a chocolate sponge cake steamed in chocolate sauce. It’s similar to this but I imagine it would have a richer flavour and a crispy top.
