Your entire channel is about recreating food and yet you can't manage to get the same ingredients, kikkoman tastes completely different than la choy, tapatio Doritos do not taste like flaming hot Doritos with tapatio on top. Your content is incredibly low effort how are you not at least getting the right ingredients.
It would be so nice if you would put short parts of the original video of the recipe you are making, could just be screenshots even. For example when you said your eggs looked nothing like hers I got very curious and wanted to see what hers looked like. I had to leave your video, go fins hers and check.
This is a messed up version of carbonara. Soy doesn't belong... well, you get the idea. I recognize the ingredients, but it's all wrong, man. As you can tell by tasting it.
I could honestly see this being okay with some changes to how its all cooked and a bit of seasoning and maybe 1 more ingredient Salt the water for the pasta, don't break it so your not on the hitlist of all of Italy lol Cook the eggwhites in some milk on low heat so they don't scramble with a bit of salt, pepper and maybe garlic powder or paprika and the soy sauce for a sauce with a bit of pasta water. Cook off the whites of the onions and slightly cook the greens to bring out the flavor. Real bacon and cut into parts. Mix everything except the greens of the onions but use them as a garnish and I think this could be pretty good
I would not assume this is just to use leftovers to feed kids. Depending on the economic status and era the grandmother grew up in, this may have been more of a "poor man's meal" that is designed to be filling (the pasta) with some protein and veggies. I also have to think she decided on egg whites only - old people did not care about that, would have to separate the egg themselves, and wouldn't have wasted the yolk. So maybe the yolk was used elsewhere and she just didn't realize it.
Like this is very sound logic But amber is also dumb enough to just cook this way, its all the "easiest" precooked and packaged, She probably buys pickles individually
4:35 looks exactly like my cat! She loves to be held like a baby too. I know it's a late comment but pro tip: A lid on the pot will help it boil faster.
Not knowing how to cook is EXPENSIVE. How to make this immediately better: 1) Using real bacon and whole eggs. 2) Get a wok or much bigger pan. 3) Cook bacon. Remove bacon and grease, leaving 2-3 tbs. Cut scallions (green onions). Put white part of your scallions into grease to cook briefly; you could also add a small (like 1/4-1/3 cup total) frozen peas or finely cut veggies at this step. Cook briefly. Pour beaten eggs into green onion and bacon fat, no need to remove veggies. Cook briefly (you want some runny-ness for the next part). Add MORE bacon grease if desired. Throw drained pasta and more of the green onion into your runny scrambled egg/veggie mixture and stir fry to coat and mix. Add small amount of black pepper and soy sauce while stir frying. Remove from heat, plate, and use the final bit of reserved green onion for garnish.
I would assume her grandmother used eggs, but I heard Amber is trying to lose weight. I have to assume this is her adaptation. Depending on the era the grandmother was in, this may have been a decent way to cook a meal that was low cost and could fill people up. It has all the attributes of a "poor man's" meal from the 30's-50's. This is not a "foodie" meal.
@@HotaruGlaiveyou could decrease the amount of pasta and use whole egg and it would be better nutritionally, taste better, and less calories. you do what you have to do when you're recovering from an eating disorder though so whatever, power to her.
@@HotaruGlaive Thanks for the note about the weight loss journey for this creator. I honestly had never heard of them or understood the context. While the substitutions make sense to some degree for a famous RU-vid creator, for the viewer who is worried about their grocery bill, separating egg whites from yolks is not complicated; in fact, you can use your hands! Bacon is a luxury too. You can sub any meat, but bacon is a good choice because it's greasy and seasoned before cooking. Honestly, I just applied my basic egg fried rice/noodles to this recipe that I learned from my Chinese mother-in-law. Thanks again and have a wonderful day.
I have also "heard" that she's trying but ever since the journey was announced 7 YEARS AGO and she's only gotten bigger, this "weight loss journey" is only something i've Heard about but never seen, unfortunately now she's with a partner who fetishizes obesity and legally KILLED their previous partner by force feeding them, this can't end well @@HotaruGlaive
Exactly, I thought as Rob cooked the egg, "if you just added it raw to the cooked noodles with some parmesan and a little pasta water, you'd have carbonara". It's like you have most of the ingredients but the steps get jumbled up.
Thats where i was expecting this to go TBH, All you would need to do is change the order of cooking and add a bunch more butter and parmesan And to actually cook the bacon first
I feel this would probably be a bit better and a little less weird if you just swapped the spaghetti out for white rice and just used full eggs instead of egg whites. Also a wild scenario that grandma has egg whites on hand but not regular eggs unless she was on some sort of dietary restriction I guess.
It would definitely not be bad at all if minus the sardines and if 1/10th that portion. Now that I think about it, if I was going to consume this seriously while keeping spirit of the flavor(besides sardines), I would just make a cheese-ranch-buffalo dip to dip chips in separately in rotation, like actual chicken buffalo dip.
I bet it wasn't that bad. I eat all this separate. Sardines are dank, and spicy chips, can't go wrong. But I'm sure it was overkill. Toss out the ranch and put it on after you microwave
