Today, Craig and Celeste taste two Honey Kiss Mangos - one from Craig's work friend, Mark, and one from Tony and Davy of Mango Manor.
We will be tasting both mangos grown at our own farm on the west coast of Florida and from other Florida farms (mainly on the east coast). Mangos taste different when grown in different conditions and when picked at different times/ripened differently. Our opinions of a particular mango are just that - opinions on one specific mango, off of a specific tree, growing in a a specific location. We are not evaluating a variety in general and by no means intend to offend anyone by our less than stellar review of what might be your favorite mango.
Sulcata Grove is our 2 acre, backyard food forest. We grow over 60 varieties of bananas along with many fruit trees.

Hi, that is one of my favorite mangoes along with all the popular desserts mangoes like lemon meringue, coconut cream, orange sherbet... except that this one gets very little commotion about it. You hinted on what I also think occurs with it. That is, when it's less ripe, it is citrusy and when it is ripe and overripe it goes from peachy to maybe slight coconut flavor. Smooth and delicious! As always, great video. Have a fantastic week.

We were surprised at how good it was since we haven’t heard people rave about it like so many others. Great to hear you enjoy it as well!

Thanks for watching and thank you for the mangos and grafting Alampur Baneshan onto our Cogshall. It’s flushing out nicely!

Davy Wavy wants to know how the turtles are doing? How many of the three Alan Par grafts made it? I’m so happy at least one did. I put three on it.. Next year we have more mangos for you to taste test…

@@MangoManorMadness The tortoises are doing great - eating their elephant grass and cactus. It looks like only one of the grafts took, but it's put out two flushes already. Super excited since Craig's mowed over my tiny tree that was still recovering from the freeze.

That’s why I graft 3. You never know in the summer time and it gives you a shot to get one grafted on. So glad one took!

Very good disease resistance on my tree and after 5 flushes this year I would not call it dwarf… the internode length is more in line with a medium growth tree.. after a couple of years in the ground without fruit I can’t say how productive it is yet

Same here. First year growing and it flushed 4 times.

Love the "chaulky-ness" flavor/ mouthfeel some mangoes cultivars has. Brix readings would be a nice addition to the review of any fruit- especially mangoes. Appreciate your reviews.

I agree! I looked into getting a brix meter, but wasn’t sure which one was best (and affordable).

@@SulcataGrove A simple Brix refractometer will do (range 0 to 30) can be had for under $20. That's what I use as most fruits hit that range and it's so easy to use, clean, and store. Or go digital ($100-200) with a range of 0 - 99 and future proof yourself as these new Zill releases (and sapodillas!) are getting sweeter and sweeter with brixs' in the high 20s.

A solid late season mango. Added plus is the tree is compact and manageable. They say it came from a Keitt seed, but the flavor is different.
