Love this song! Props to Honey Lantree---I was in awe of her talent, as in those times, you just didn't see female drummers. I'm glad that has changed. She is still so beautiful!
The story of the Honeycombs would make a great movie. Great to see so much info about them out there! I bought the first EP at a used record store in the 90's and have loved Have I the Right ever since hearing on the radio. Don't remember it from the 60's but I was only 8 when it came out, so...
I was 16 when I first heard "Have I the Right". Absolutely loved it. As a drummer myself, I can say Honey's drumming was perfect for the song, although Meek didn't seem to think so, but he was an a****le. We here in the States paid a lot of close attention to all of those British groups back then. I love to relive it.........so refreshing!
I was 14 years old Honeycombs hit that´s the way, took my heart and still do. Honeycombs performed here in north Sweden -65 the Midsummer-festival in Sikfors 50 km from Luleå, does someone remember,Honey? John? Allan? Peter Pye? Martin???
I LOVED HONEY LANTREE WHEN I WAS AT SCHOOL INTHE 1960S AND STILL FANCY HER NOW, SHE ALLWAYS DRESSED SMART AS MOST DID IN THOSE DAYS, NOT LIKE NOW SCRUFFY JEANS WIERD TROUSERS. IM GLAD IM 63 AND LIVED THROUGH THOSE HAPPY TIMES.
hi just saw you on Showtime, they were playing the documentry? Pop Gear here in America.I was born in 1952,grew up in Calif, loved the 60's,you were the drummer in the Honeycombs, great song, you look great.
Honey sing "Something I Got To Tell You" on their 2d LP "All Systems Go", with feelings. I have both and 7 singles, but Dennis voice had it all from rock, pop, u name it. Martin knew what he did...
@RickenbackerRules - There's a superb film available on DVD called TELSTAR, about the rise to fame of Joe Meek and his huge success, but in the end he was pretty mad and a depressive and that led to his downfall. Great film, well worth watching if your interested in his life story.
honey fist appeared in flim called just for fun she drummed for the song hully gully for jet harris and tony meahan i too was in group we was to appear on the same bill has the honeycombs but someone double booked us the girl guitarist that week left us and moved bk to birmingham she joinned the applejacks
Your nan is clearly a class act. I've always enjoyed "Have I the Right?" and watching the Honeycombs performing it here on RU-vid is such a treat. Is it true that she and Dave Clark are half-siblings?
Hi I only know of two lady bass players, on was the original with The Applejacks who is still around today, and the lady who was with the 2010 version of The Applejacks who I must say was very good..the bad news is I am crap with names and both names evade me now
On a video that's titled "The Honeycombs 1965 (this song was banned) some of the younger generation thinks that Honey Lantree is Keith Moon in drag. lol
Joe Meek was invariably in a bad mood when he recorded beat groups because he hated the music and resented having to record it. The advent of the Beatles and The Stones totally changed the face of popular music and effectively ended his career.
@KrayzeeVideos Really? She's your nan? Seriously? Blimey! I saw The Honeycombs late last year, it was just such a shame that Honey weren't with 'em no more. She was so pretty during the Sixties, and from what I've just seen, she still don't look bad now. She also had such a lovely voice. One question, though: why ain't she with The Honeycombs no more? (Just out of curiosity!) :/
