i do think it's adorable that after the first scene with the toast, Denji learned to be more courteous and does not make a mess of the table when making it anymore
@@KairuHakubiThey aren't pointless, they serve to showcase things about other characters and how the world of CSM works, it's a world with death literally everywhere. Basically Naruto if it actually showed you how messed up the Shinobi World is suppose to be instead of being some sort of kid show.
''Let's make a more realistic version of toast with jam and honey'' he says, before constructing his milk bread ice cream fruit cube, complete with drawbridge.
Most of the time Denji is very happy with his life but now that i’ve seen this I want him to go to a dessert shop and order one of those things I just want to see the pure joy he gets when he eats one of those
@@bryantan4228 Spoiler: well only about half of the menu. Apparently he can't read most of the Japanese words when he was ordering back in the episode before the entire division 1,2,3,4 and Denji being brutally killed.
The toast reminds me of when i put peanut butter and jelly on a tortilla with maple syrup because i wanted something sweet. I was also kind of poor at the time, so i can understand why denji thought it was the best thing in the world since before he met the demon hunters he could only afford a loaf of bread.
i used to do the same thing! when we had jelly anyway. there were many times where it was only peanut butter and syrup. sometimes it was honey but that was usually only when i had a sore throat.
Ha, it's quite clear that Alvin has a serious sweet tooth! You can tell not only from the recipes shared here but also from his personal RU-vid channel where he whips up recipes loaded with heaps of sugar. But you know what, to each their own, right? After all, Alvin is an amazing baker and his recipes are totally fabulous!
To be fair, everyone goes through a period of time where buttered toast with jam is the best thing ever and you have it for breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and midnight snack
Peanut butter on toast, it was that or ramen noodles and after awhile ramen noodles get boring, especially when you don't have eggs to drop into it. But for some reason peanut butter on toast was like a luxury meal to me at 12.
Y'all should do an entire breakdown of food - cookery in Chainsaw Man, considering how important it is to the overarching themes of the story. It explores the intimate relationship with food, consumption for pleasure or sustenance, the transformation, rearranging and assimilation of a living thing onto another, ranging from eating trash for sustenance, relying on junk-comfort food, to patiently and lovingly preparing a dish that respects and values it's ingredients and it's origins
***Manga Spoilers*** Once they get to it in the anime, they should recreate all of the dishes that Denji makes at the end. Well… minus that one special ingredient.
my mom bakes so sweet treats were never a huge novelty at my house but for some reason I had never had toast with butter and jam until I was 15, something about the butter with the jam just changed my life and I couldn't stop eating it everyday, it really is the simple things in life
Words cannot describe the discovery of butter mixed with jam on toast.... Truly a life changing experience.. When I discovered this, you probably weren't even alive yet..lol. but I had the same reaction.
you can tell Alvin is truly one of Andrews own heart, he's equally capable of taking a pretty simple childlike premise of "toast with all of the jams on it" and going completely off the rails with a gourmet version.
Alvin's episodes are rapidly becoming ones that I expect the most. I'm not even huge on animes but I just love Alvin's care about food that he makes and the little stories he attaches to them. It's truly just making me so happy to watch him create amazing dishes every time
I’ve been waiting for this, & perfect timing for breakfast as well. Too bad I don’t have Aki’s wide array of jelly. Also, I'm glad that you used orange marmalade rather than jam (despite you saying jam) since the actual visuals & the English dub specify marmalade rather than jam.
The first time I tried Toast with any toppings was on my 13th birthday, And I thought that the small thing of butter and jam that I had stole from McDonalds to put on the bread I toasted over a fire was the best thing ever.
Ok, was not expecting this to get a video, but I love it. I’m loving Chainsaw Man and I’m down to try this! I actually think you could make the original recipe work. Maybe spread the butter on first, then spread each of the jams in an even layer on top of one another and then add the honey. Just an idea, and maybe I’ll try it.
Probably unpopular opinion, but I liked DUD a lot more than Chainsaw Man. Ofc totally different genres but.. I merely find Chainsaw "ok", whereas I really looked forward to each new DUD episode :)
One thing I appreciate is that no matter how ridiculous the recipe is, they always make the most simple/accurate version first before whipping out the hardcore cooking ingredients/machines
I love that you always make a completely accurate version but also a fancy inspired recipe that I will DEFINITELY try because it looks absolutely delicious! 🤤
Denji would actually have a heart attack from sheer elation if this was ever served to him... if he still had his heart. Thanks to Pochita he could now enjoy it unscathed!
For context, if you haven’t seen the show/read the manga, the character Denji was always extremely poor, and only ate plain bread, and dreamed of this moment shown.
What, no comments about a Japanese school girl who's late for school running down the street with a piece of toast in her mouth? It's, like, a required anime/manga scene, isn't it?
aww, i love the story about you eating this when you were younger. I've never seen a honey brick toast before, and you reminiscing about ur history with the dish adds so much
YEEEEEES I was hoping you'd do this one! 💕 You also elevated it far beyond what I expected! Denji and Pochita could never fathom such a glorious creation.
My 6th attempt to ask Alvin to make a dish from my favorite manga/anine of all time: Chuka Ichiban, pretty much the origin of Food Wars. It is an amazing manga that I read as a kid from my parents buying the Vietnamese translations of, and I would be really happy to see one of those dishes to appear in the series!
Also pls consider pork chops in Paw paw sauce from Spy X Family - will have to wait until next year to go foraging for it. Paw paw is a fruit that tastes like a banana mango with a bit of citrus, just has seeds so you can't buy it in supermarkets. It would be dope to also have an 'It's Alive' style series where y'all go out into the field and teach us about sourcing, sustainability and stuff.
I have never seen Chainsaw Man in my life but that guy at the beginning is such a mood ,, I often have random points throughout the year / month where we kinda don't have much food in my home and this would soo something i'd do once we did that trip to the store after getting some money . I also love the idea of the bread box ,, def would be something i'd order if I managed to find a local restaurant that served it .
Not sure if you take suggestions, however, do you remember George Costanza rock climbing with Dan Cortez on Seinfeld? He brought salmon salad and egg salad sandwiches. I would love to see gourmet versions of these.
