Steve's working again man on a Saturday providing that A plus service! Dec to March I used to work almost every Saturday getting heating oil stops caught up. Even if we were a few cents higher than the big companies the fact they didn't have to wait til Monday kept them comming back.

Forced hot air is junk! Give them a estimate for radiant heat. It's more expensive to install but pays for itself in no time. Big bonus is it keeps heating after the zone shuts off. Less hours on your boiler so it'll last longer.

Just realized that when you are driving and talking and telling us about the job, it's just like the show "Cops" where the cops are driving and talking like "Got a call for a domestic. Guy is causing a disturbance and we're going over to investigate".

You'd almost have to have the runoff the 16x8 duct with a damper as well. Zoning is nice when it works properly

What are your thoughts on putting return grilles in every bedroom on a system that doesn't have zoning

Was the furnace 2 stage or variable speed? Might need a bypass box if it isn't.

Off is open? Is that why my garage is still getting wasted AC eventhough the thermostat is off?

like the top floor of my brothers apartment building, close off all the registers and it's still 90 in there. only relief is to open the windows all winter long

You can install what's called, "add a zone", or "Extra-zone". Made by Venstar part# ACC0450. It's just a small control with a sensor that mounts next to a room zone damper, and is controlled by a thermostat. The thermostat would only control the damper for that room. So when the "main" thermostat is calling for heat, the "extra-zone" sensor will sense heat into the room where they don't want heat and the extra-zone will close off the damper for that small room. Problem solved. I've installed these "add a zone" many times.

The original installer didn’t take the time to lay out that ductwork properly. The end result is you will never have a balanced system and even temperatures throughout. Lots of work to make it work properly.

Maybe a bypass/barametric damper and move the damper closer to the main supply trunk.

air to air transfer boxes in the wall would be the easiest quickest fix, try and get that air to suck in to the other rooms return perhaps?

Steve, any videos on high efficiency boilers/ furnaces and pressure switches? Its not that I don’t know what they do, but I find it hard to test or diagnose a pressure switch rated at 3” water column. Or I don’t have the right tool to do it, obviously.

Have same problem at police dept I work at. I told them same thing and not cheap to fix. Every winter the people in that room room complain. Make adjustments then say too cool. Dept won't pay for proper fix but "my fault"

Where the heck were the test and balance guys after running that poorly designed system. I've run across that same crap and afterwards the finger pointing started. Sounds like the air flow needs to be reduced even when that damper goes to closed. Just a thought.

Look like they had a boiler in that other room closet? They should've ran a boiler for heat and an ahu for ac. Who ever designed that had there head in a cloud and saw $$$. The Next Level Mamma. DESIGN ISSUE FOR SURE.
