Awesome vlog Andrew! I've always viewed HK as the NYC of Asia with it's rough edges, and mix of modernization on HK Island and deep culture around Kowloon and the New Territories. As a fan of HK movies for many years, I enjoyed the Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan references. Can't wait to see the rest of the trip!
Born and raised in Hong Kong, used to live in Central Ohio, visited Japan multiple times, and have been practicing Kung Fu my whole life.... I can see why I love your channel so much...
Awesome video!!! The video provides immersive experience of a trip to Hong Kong. You effectively captures the excitement of travelling, showcasing the preparation, transit in Tokyo, and the arrival in Hong Kong. The footage of exploring Hong Kong are interesting. Thank you!
It's rare for travel vlogger to explore underrated destinations, so it's incredible that you choose to not pick mainstream or famous destinations. Even if I only watch it by screen, I can experience the amusing environment and pleasing experience. The visual cinematography, the description, the place, it was all on point and very eye-catching!
Been there once and loved the food. Looking forward to another vlogg from HK and Japan. Enjoyed watching this HK video. The length just right and the contents awesome. Thank you Andrew. 😊Stay safe.
Thank you for letting us experience a Lot of different things, Aspects of Your Life and Friends in this short time with You, Well Put together, t'was Great
Great job Andrew! This was so much fun to watch - I love the outdoors the most - but seeing different cultures is very cool and exciting too! Thank you for sharing!
I truly love that older look for some of those buildings. Awesome vlog! Really enjoyed hearing all of the different kung fu history as well throughout it all.
Huge fan!!!! I've watched your videos with my family many times before and I always learn from y'all's extensive plant knowledge and it's truly therapeutic and relaxing!!!
Great to see you traveling again - I look forward to see the rest of your visit. I was in HK in 2003 - and stayed at the Youth Hostel on the top of Mt. Davidson (I think). Great views of Kowloon and Lantau Island and only $15/night plus $12 for the shuttle from the end of the subway line.
One of the cool things about Hong Kong is that you can party early, party late, or party until the sun comes up. When I used to visit, my cousins would call me to meet them in Lan Kwai Fong at 7pm. I'm like isn't that a bit early? But when I got there the place was jam packed with people spilled over onto the roads. You can easily get a full night of fun and be in bed by midnight.
Its really cool to get a look at Hong Kong like this! Ive always thought about taking a similar kind of trip with my classmates and teacher as a fellow martial artist and seeing the martial arts aspect of this was great. Wonderful video as always
Hong Kong is an amazing place! I hope to see more "bridge cities" like hong Kong in the future. I see hong Kong truly as a planetary city. Where all are welcome for living, business, and growth
Oh man. I haven't been for a minute, that's true. But I agree, totally underrated. You can be having a hot noodle breakfast with milk tea downtown at 9, and be hiking a mountain ridge or at the beach at 10. This is a super urban environment that also has something close to 50% of the land as hikeable "country parks" that are still natural AND reachable by public transit. Amazing. Side bonus for Americans: your English will suffice just fine, unlike any mainland Chinese city.
Thank you for sharing your day. Hong Kong is my favorite city, can't wait to get back there. I hoped this would sate my travel bug but I've still got the itch.
First AA video I watched in about a year… and definitely a lot more of half naked Andrew than the previous episodes… change in the artistic direction, guys? 😂
If you want to try good durian, go to Malaysia where they have durian buffet. You get to try a variety of durian. ;) Also, for adventures, go to East Malaysia and climb Mount Kinabalu.
Not quite, safety reason. Most neon signs are being removed around the world due to cost of maintenance and cost of use(energy), everything is being phased over to led signs.
Okay, Hong Kong is hot and humid, but so is Columbus. It seems like you would be right at home. I’ve struggled with the humidity in Ohio. Come to Seattle to see Bruce Lee’s grave.
Cool video, been there many times myself. Actually my trips were better, didn’t have to follow a guy around with t shirt with his silhouette on the front and name on the back. He’s from NYC, to be expected. 🙄
Well Hong Kong isn't really "hugely underrated". It's literally the #1 most visited city on earth right now after beating out Bangkok, which has been #1 for almost 10 years. More people go to Hong Kong than London, Paris, New York, Rome etc. It has always been a major global hub for business, finance, tourism and a gateway to the rest of Asia.
Unfortunately we have to think of titles that are catchy to try and get new views, haha. Though I do think a lot of people overlook it when compared to places like Japan, for example
@@AdventureArchives That's the thing though, Tokyo had 32 million visitors in 2019 before Covid and Hong Kong had 57 million, so it's not even close. I think you may just perceive that Hong Kong is some type of hidden gem because maybe you don't hear your friends talk about it, but in reality it is more visited than anywhere else on earth. All good though, you might just not be familiar with it if you haven't lived there.
@@kayflip2233 I have a feeling it's underrated as far as leisure tourism goes in The U.S. Culturally, Japan and even Korea are much more prominent in the U.S., and much more talked about as travel destinations among young people. Even with our videos, videos about Japan perform far better. I'd be curious to learn more though, because Hong Kong is a top travel desination, so it seems strange that it isn't culturally as talked about from a U.S. perspective. I haven't found any solid statistics, but I wonder if it's a top travel destination, but a lot of that travel is business/finance for U.S. citizens, where as Japan tends to be more of a tourist destination for U.S. citizens?
Maybe it's red china taking down the fun neon signs and not replacing them, or maybe it's just impossible to live in an apartment next to such an annoyingly bright light. 不知道
I think Hong Kong is an absolutely amazing place, but most people, especially younger people in the U.S. only consider places like Japan when it comes to leisure travel. Japan is also much more prominent on the internet here, but I think Hong Kong deserves more attention in that regard. Even our videos in Japan perform way better than videos on Hong Kong. Remember: Underrated means the place is BETTER than people give it credit for, not worse :)
so that is what 37 thousand people per sqaure mile looks like, i heard that many people have to rent cages in some of theh apartments due to overcrowding is that true? new york and h ong kong look pretty much the same, except people seem to be a bit more respectful of each other but hard to tell by one video, but there were alot more plants and nice areas then I thought there were, just so you kow I h ate all cities, so I am not picking on hong kong I hate nyc, chicago phili, you get the picture. i prefer the country or close to it I can get. those martial artists look like they are dancing. you seem to have alotof friends, good friends are to be cherished as they are rare these days.

hong kong is the second most happy police state on the face of the earth (the first is my fave, singapura). no mtns though. hard to beat that south kowloon peak scramble!
underrated? what the heck are you talking about????? it It has been one of the top tourist destinations in asia. One of the best place for food and shopping.
Agree, how can it be underrated if it's literally the most visited city in the world? It's just the wrong way to describe it. I think he probably just hasn't been there and it feels undiscovered to him specifically. But that's like me going to somewhere like New York for the first time and saying "New York is a hidden gem!" when everyone else has been through New York a million times and it is old news.
@@triple_gem_shining What "other chosen destinations"? Hong Kong is literally the #1 most visited city on earth right now (beat Bangkok, which was #1 for 8+ years). What you're saying makes no sense.
@@triple_gem_shining other-often-chosen-destinations??? like I said it is the Food hub and shopping hub in asia. if westeners wanted to have authentic asian food with the vibes of the west, That's HK.
I would say that it’s not marketed as well as it should to be honest. There is so much more nature and zany stuff than is commonly discussed in average tourist books and docs.
Just dont be fooled, Hong Kong these days is not what it was 10-20 years ago. The younger and middleaged Hong Kong citizens who could, left Hong Kong and moved to the US or Europe after china took over. These days its mostly mainland Chinese that live in Hong Kong, wealthy ones, because its incredibly expensive so its not quite the same culture or overall experience let alone attitude towards foreigners in Hong Kong now.
You're pretty mistaken if you believe there are no HongKongers left in Hong Kong. Sure, a bunch of people did leave but in a city of over 7 million, that's far from eradicated them. Yes, there has been an influx of mainland migrants but your statement is off.
