Very nice shave! Glenn is a great guy! Convex honing is certainly intriguing.

Thanks for watching. Honing becomes a process for each to find his own perfection. This is what I like.

Excellent shave, Bill. I repeated a couple things you said. I sourced you and didn’t plagiarize. Good monologue. Your 44 minute video was my honing timer for finishing my 2 new razors. My new video up soon.

Thanks Leon. What kind of crazies entertain themselves by watching one another play with sharp steel and listening to what they have to say? 🤔 Perhaps those who find a simplistic escape from the actual craziness that we find sometimes surrounding us.

@@billm.2677 “The gods must be crazy.” Well, it’s a hobby we do enjoy. Who really needs 70 razors?

If it’s the camera mount I’m thinking of it’s the Gorilla Pod.

Good guess but not a Gorilla Pod. I think it is a Tenikle Pro. Thanks for watching.

Good, informative video. I agree that a straight razor user should be able to hone his (or her) razors. No knock against anyone who prefers to rely on the services of "professional" honer exclusively; I just don't see how such a practice will bring the same degree of satisfaction as being able to hone a razor to one's own particular level of comfort. Of course there's the risk of damaging or even ruining a razor through poor technique; but, as you point out, ordinary use impacts a razor's edge so that some degree of "self-honing" becomes part of standard maintanence. I bought one of Jarrod's Gold Dollar 1996s before he decided to stop selling them. It yeilded a much smoother shave than the Gold Dollar 1996 the I honed on flat stones. I am not quite ready to buy one of Jarrod's shaping plates and convex all of my whetstones; I have, however, purchased one of the "tiny coticules" to which you refer along with a small convexed hard Arkansas stone that Jarrod offers as a convexed finisher. The use of these two stones seems a very economical, and less time consuming, way to create a concave bevel on those of my razors that aren't giving me the most comfortable shaves from flat stone honing.

Thank you. I have not had to “reshape any of my arks” when I am shaping other stuff i usually just dress the surface a bit.
