Don't listen to any of these rude comments. As a Navajo (Diné), I am proud that a people as ancient as the Hopi are willing to pay homage to us. We need to continue to be good neighbors to one another! Ahéhee'!
Their not Paying Homage to Navajos..!!!.. Sad you don't see that... Their mocking and wishing away Navajos with this Dance..!!.. they can dress and sing like us.. but they will never be us Dine'..!!!
I'm Navajo, grew up in dormitory in keams canyon..we had alot of different Hopi dancers an never got tired of them,it always renewed something within us,..
people talk about the bad camera work etc.....but that is just being negative......we need to be feeling good about this because normally they don't even ALLOW ANY recordings or videos made of their Sacred dances.... I just see this and I feel SO GOOD ..because I am no longer living on that Sacred Land where I used to live...I am all the way across the ocean...in France now....and I may never make it back there again to witness this kind of a dance....and to hear the Songs..to hear the little children laughing , to see the People dancing in Harmony with All Creation....ever again in my life..This is so beautiful to see, and I am SO grateful to the person who posted this AMAZING video....WOPILA ....
Ya'ateeh, Thank You and humbled at the dance. If we as southwest native people truly looked into our history more we would realize that at one point in time we all were united and honored each other. Thank you for posting this beautiful Hopi Navajo dance👍
I am ARMY BEAR from Apache Pima tribe. I have seen many dances.. but this one brought tears to my eyes and happiness in my heart.. to see so many ages jump into this dance with sprits of joy all around you ..
I'm Native American myself. My honest question for you is, I know Native tribes aren't going against each other like all crazy but why is there still somewhat animosity between tribes in 2023? Especially after all the rejection and racism we face from non native groups. I'm for all Native/indigenous people but I believe there are some things we need to work on within our people and tribes getting along with one another is a issue that still needs to be taken care of.
That is something that goes to each individual or it is possible that ancestors have passed down grudges among the people. I cannot truly say . Only hope that we can all understand that when our time come . our children will learn from the past
Nice video!! I'm Chippewa/Sioux from Red Lake, Minnesota. My mom was a RN and worked at Keams Canyon hospital w/IHS...2x...('86 & '90). The very 1st...Hopi dance...I ...ever saw ...(in my life!).. was the Home Dance (Hemis Kachina) at Walpi in summer of 1986. I felt like I was carried back in time... 200-300 years. I've seen, been, to many dances, in almost every village in Hopiland. 1st mesa dances are special to me, since they were so close to Keams. I especially like watching....the little kids as they watched, absorbed, followed and what they saw. I know more about "middle village". I've only been to Tewa...a few times (to visit friends). I never seen a dance there (except through..RU-vid) I know several people from Tewa & middle village from last names....Maho, Nasonhoya, Choyou,Torivio,Dashee,Namoki.
Aww. So proud of my sister (purple top and skirt) and my 2 nieces (green top/white skirt & purple top/white skirt). I wish I had known and made it home that weekend.
I'm full blooded Hopi, Dasavus/Dine/Navajos were always awesome to sing and dance too. We're all connected in one way or another. Take Care out there Sinom/People.
You have the most amazing, beautiful culture on this earth. I am honoured to be able to watch your ceremony. Diolch yn iawn o Cymru( Thank you very much from Wales) UK😊🤝
Is this celebration at the first mesa Hopi village, its so beautiful thank you for sharing, its not easy to keep what is precious alive, negative comments are proof of an ignorant , limited mind.
A lot of us Guys think the old fashion Ladies Squash Blossom hairstyle Is DAM CUTE. Modern methods May able to take down and shampoo often and easily make up.
There are both turkey and eagle feathers used. The tall headdress is similar to one of our yei dancers, the Fringe Mouth. It’s also the same worn by certain dancers in the corral dance for Mountain Way. The girls wear cotton material for imitating a traditional Navajo blanket dress. When I went with my great aunt from Second Mesa to dances, the girls all wore velveteen blouses and satin dresses. With lots of silver jewelry! Someone told me they prefer this way for Navajo dance because velveteen is getting awful pricey. When they do this at Zuni, it gets more, fancier? More ribbons and silver jewelry is used.
Beautiful dance, I just learned that Aztecs are descendants of Hopi and that some of their Gods are the same. I would like to visit Hopi areas to educate myself more. Is it allowed? Where can I start?
@@kuo-haya9200 we may not be descendants but we are related... we came from the sw originally and we have many similar cultural and spiritual beliefs and foods etc ... we traded with each Other and respected each other... let’s not fight
@@de-vefred232 I would say hello in Hopi, but I know as a white man I'm not suppose to say hello to any Hopi. Just keep my head down, and keep moving 😂
@@JanSparkles1 ok but it would still be nice if you could recommend anything that would provide a bit more insight into the culture. Because it sewms realy interesting and I'd like to learn more about it.
Blessing to all people n world that's the reason us pueblo dance in Navajo ,buffalo n harvest n so on to send blessing to all people n living things n our directions
