Horizon Forbidden West PS4 vs PS5 Graphics Comparison 

The ps5 exclusives arent much better looking yet, either

I’m definitely happy to see the focus on offering a good 60 fps mode on PS5 as some of the finer points of fidelity start to have less impact whereas 30 vs 60 fps is a difference that’s incredibly apparent & impacts gameplay. Comparing screenshots or freeze frame details definitely miss that big difference.

@@stormdavis7093 Returnal had some really good lighting and VFX, too. Maybe doesn’t jump out as good looking in a more traditional sense, but it had some really great tech behind particular aspects.

They really made the right choice making it for PS4 first. With prices and parts availability as they are now, it would've hurt sales tremendously if they'd released it on PS5 only.

I own a ps5 for a year and I can confirm that you are absolutely missing nothing. Buy a ps4 if you dont have money to confortably buy a ps5

If you have ps5 you shouldn’t even buy ps5 games. You can literally get PS4 games for less money and use the code to get a free upgrade to ps5 digital version.

Only catch no dlc for PS4. Only PS5.

@@kjellbeats mate it will look stellar on your Pro and then you can upgrade for free once you get your PS5, some advice get a disk version or you are locked into Sonys market, I'm getting this tomorrow on disk and on Amazon I paid £51.06 gbp, I don't get why they charge so much for digital, no production or haulage costs etc yet physical is cheaper and you can lend a friend it or sell it, digital should have its own marketplace on consoles because Sony and MS could still take a cut from the resale anyway and it would always be a sellers market, even if they limited each game to one or two resales, I know they have the tech for it, I own 103 games physically on PS4, I own 18 on PS5, I have 263 on XB combined as they have smart delivery, I do own quite a few digital games I get in sales, one good thing about digital is you can't borrow a game out never to be seen again, is it just me or when you lend someone a game its like they think you've given it them for keeps? I've had to scraps over games I wanted back, same with blu rays actually and I lend them out and forget who tf I lent them to, anyway, whinge over, respect from Ireland 🇮🇪 and hope you have a blast tomorrow mate

Hzd was a great game tho I wish it had more gameplay options and things to do and interact with around the world to really make it come to life. After I completed everything it seemed like everything and person was just there to look at and watch them go about their programmed routines..

@@goldensapphire0 if you are like me and only own a PS5 you have no choice but to go to the playstation store and buy the ps5 version because they removed the ps4 version after they announced their mistake. I would need to get a hold of a PS4, log in with my PSN account, purchase the ps4 version, log out, log into my ps5 just to save $10.

sony is really good pushing their consoles to the limit. even the ps3 at the end of its life cycle even manage to run the last of us game.

You can install a cheap SSD in the PS4 and it reduces loadtimes by 90%. Horizon ZDs loadtimes where already attrocious, after i installed an SSD it was down to 5-10 seconds depending on the area i was loading.

Would be nice if you can buy a PS5 for $500 bucks though.

I recently put an SSD on my PS4 and it loads faster but I don't see a slight difference on the graphics still sticking with the PS4 all the way

I noticed too,it does this after 4-5 hours off running, well the game is really pushing the PS4 to the maximum and don't forghet, PS4 was launched in 2014 and the game is 2022 so... I'm just happy they made it run on PS4.

That's logical and would make sense but a lot of main stream game channels doesn't do that often, if at all.

It does look better on ps5 when aloy is in brightly lit areas but in darker areas it's very over done and doesn't look natural with the rest of the scene. It makes her look like she isn't really there. Personally I would rather have the ps4 lighting in both light and dark areas than the ps5s lighting. I agree that I hope we get the ability to tone it down or turn it off because I specifically bought the ps5 for this game.

Its not a big difference. A thing i noticed though is framerate is rock solid for ps4 pro at 30 fps with the same resultion has ps5 performance mode that has 60 fps

@@RAL0981 Ps4 Pro plays the last of us remastered with two options. 2160p with 30fps or 1080p with 60fps. Shows both options on mine. 🤷‍♂️ So nope, he ain’t misinforming anyone. Not “every” single game got a patch for 60fps on Ps4 and pro. But most did.

You are right. But I bet this is the one loading screen you'll see, when you are in the game I imagine you won't see a loading screen longer than a couple seconds if not less

Simple. Take a stand. Don't buy or play it if it bothers you.

I mean... Would you rather it just stay on PS4 alone? Sony already has an issue with being very platform restrictive, are you sure you want to encourage them to make that worse? Plus, how would they make it a native PS5 title anyway? Game development takes years especially for games that arnt just copy and paste yearly releases like CoD. The game was developed and optimized on PS4 hardware because that's all they had.

It's just low effort on their part. The whole video is maxed out at 1080p60, which is ridiculously pathetic for a "Graphics Comparison" video. Gamespot has really fallen. Between things like this and the story spoilers in their reviews... they could learn a thing or two.

Lol I was just looking for this comment 😂😂🤣 this is a 1080p video while Ps5 performance mode runs 1800p close to 4K.... The difference is very big compared to performance mode and PS4

Lightining is so much better in ps5, dont get used to see a ps4 game holding up to ps5, its just guerilla that cared enough to make last gen being good

It’s a PS4 game. The developers made it with the PS4 in mind. The only different to the PS5 is the resolution boost and frame rate boost.

I don't have a PS5 but so don't know this for certain. It's likely there isn't a performance raytracing because either the game doesn't have FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) or just that FSR just isn't advanced enough to provide an acceptable image quality while ray tracing higher frames. Raytracing is incredibly demanding and a lot of hardware will struggle to keep frames up while keeping the game looking sharp.

Good that you can upgrade it when you get the ps5.
