Everyone: We got a few of comments about the video quality on this one, saying there was a lots of digital noise, even in 4K!!! So Megan and I worked really hard and THINK we figured this out. Please help us get this right!!! Thanks to all of you who made the comments. We really want to deliver as high quality video footage as humanly possible, so hopefully this will be better. Quality is very good! Image clarity is very crisp. Immediately noticeable is the detailed texture of the plane during close ups. During flight, the plane is also more defined and more of the planes features are visible, even when at a distance. Audio is clear and precise. It feels like we're actually there in person watching the flight. Another aspect of your videos that cannot be overlooked is that the camera is very steady. I never feel like I'm getting motion sickness with your videos, even during high speed passes. I've watched other videos where the image is shaky, and at times would need to look away from the screen. This is never the case with your videos. Thanks for the great videos!

AWESOME! So glad to hear you're seeing the improvement. Megan has been great with the camera for some time now, and that helps with the potential sea sickness that we've all experienced while watching fast moving action videos like this, but as for the reply regarding 4K and the weird grainy issue we had on this particular video - THANKS! We needed some feedback on these issues, as we believe we owe it to our audience to deliver the BEST quality footage we can, and in return, you guys have been coming back for more for years now. Thanks again! P.S. We have a video coming TOMORROW 2/10/2022 @ 10:00 AM... the video file was 136 GB - it took 3 days to upload!!! The 4K is killer on memory ;)

I need to refine my skills on the other before I get the courage to fly this one but I think with the pilot fatigue setup it will take a little stress off. Great step by step, thanks!

From the ESC Programming Box manual - hope this helps..... -- • Brake Type o Disabled (*) Default - Motor will free wheel when throttle position iszero o Normal - When throttle position is zero, the assigned brake force will be applied o Proportional - With this option selected the throttle range changes so the ESC will not start below 20%. The throttle will operate as normal above 20%, but moving thethrottle below 20% will apply the brakes, increasing in strength as the signal drops to 0%. o Reverse - When selected transmitter channel is positioned between 0 - 100% travel, the motor will run in reverse, allowing for braking during taxi/landing and reverse thrust Please Note - Reverse mode needs to be assigned to an OPEN channel on your transmitter, this channel is selected in ESC menu item #15 using in conjunction with another function can cause unexpected behavior in flight. -- • Brake Force - This option is adjustable from level 0 (* Default) to level 7. The higher the level,the stronger the braking effect. When running Reverse Brake Type we recommend setting this to 7. Cheers!!

YES - we will. Thank you for the suggestion. We TRY to do at least a one "Second Thoughts" with every plane that gets released, but sometimes we forget to circle back, especially when it's in the winter for the original review (like the RV7, for example)

Thanks for showing the setup. I like your thinking with regards to pilot fatigue setup. Whats your thoughts on sharing the model file that is saved to memory card with viewers? I know that it takes all the "fun" out of setting up the plane but could be helpful to some. Just a thought.

Nice! I hope I can now program my DX8G2. I tried to do the mixing but it didn´t work out well, sometimes full in one direction and sometimes in the other. I think the definition for digital switch was missing. I´ll try out your mode and maybe additionaly the Bind button :)

If you're operating the channel that changes the thrust direction, just make it -100, -100, 100 for the three steps of the switch. Once you get it changing, DON'T leave a "floating point" in the middle at 0 - that will leave you vulnerable to having thrust NOT change as expected. The switch you pick has ZERO baring on what happens - they all command a CHANNEL of control. If you aren't changing it from -100 to 100 (or vice-e-versa) you won't get the thrust reverse to work right. Gotta get this totally right or you'll end up killing your plane - I KNOW from experience ;) Good luck! You got this!

I also grabbed the Program Box at the same time but I didn't buy batteries, or building supplies (Foam 2 Foam) just so there is 0 temptation. November 1st I am buying the Apprentice S2 1.2mm RTF to start out with and i will get an NX8 in a month or 2

It depends on what cell count batteries you currently have. The E-Flite F-15 Eagle 64mm 4s is a great beginner jet (just beware the ailerons are very effective and the elevator is very mild.) If you have 6s batteries laying around, the E-Flite Viper Jet 70mm 6s is also a good beginner jet. Just beware it is a sport jet with its capability, so use low rates when learning it. If you have 4s EDF experience, the E-Flite F-16 Thunderbird 70mm is a good first 6s Jet. That jet on high rates has a fast roll rate as well. Hope this info helps!

Works great! I would have never figured that out on my own. How bad is it when it clunks from one direction to the other? Even at the smallest amount of thrust, it clunks when changing direction.

It does make a pretty drastic change, but if you're worried, you can set the BREAKING to 11 (not zero like I used) and this will help some - good luck Lee!

I believe the manual says to set brake force to 7 when programming for reversing. Would you think this is strictly to slow motors before switching direction? Would there be an advantage/disadvantage either way?

Fairly new to the sport, can I use the ESC Programmer V2 on my MotionRC 80mm thunderbolt to set up Reverse thrust as well??

No, they're proprietary. Sorry. You CAN get programmers for most all ESC's, but look into the TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING - you might be able to make simple changes from entering a menu and modifying settings from the Tx. you usually do something like this... Throttle 100% at startup...wait for a series of beeps to change, then throttle stick down...then look at your programming guide and see what each series of beeps particular setting is, then just use THROTTLE to change the setting when you're in that particular spot. Then when you're done, it just resets and you'll hear sometimes, a different startup noise to help you know what you've changed. It's called a "Programming Manual" for the ESC...see if you can get one from MotionRC. Good luck!

Wrong protocol, from what I understand, but I will admit I have no idea since I've never touched a Taranis. You'll need DSMX, then a programming box to setup the ESC's.

A 10 eflite ESC programing. Reverse thrust. At 22.49 time stamp. Can you use a y connection to program both sides . In stead of doing it separately????

Thanks for the honesty. How about if it works for me I'll share with you. Thanks for your long context. I have been able to program every one of my planes because of your channel. Only 8 months in and Dove deep into the Hobby and between the wife and I we have 22 all e-flite planes. And one FMS pa-18 super cub that had a bad out come due to me paralleling a 3s and 4s by mistake. Biggest ball of fire slowly fell in to the lake. Have photos if interested.

Just ordered this bird and the esc programmer. Has anyone tried adding reverse to the 70mm f-16 using the same programmer? Without flaps, it could definitely benefit from it.

I haven't tried on the V2 F-16 70mm yet, but it could really use it!

@@BrianPhillipsRC maiden flight of the a-10 today... What a solid flying airplane! I set my timer at 5 minutes but hit 3.8v around 3 1/2 minutes into the flight on a 4000mah pack. Definitely a power hungry bird. ESC programmer is coming in tomorrow. Thanks for the awesome tutorial on how to setup a "pilot fatigue" switch.

In the BNF, it has AS3X and SAFE, should you choose to use them. (So yes, it's got a "gyro")

do think you are incorrect on a brushed motor not being able to have reverse, what about old school rc cars and truck that had brushed motors and had reverse//////?????????

@@BrianPhillipsRC - I got into RC aircraft because of you :) Started with the 2300 Carbon Cub. Absolutely love it man. That airplane rocks. Just got the Carbon Z Cessna as well. Flys great abs is a ton of fun. Looking forward to getting into giant scale Warbirds. There’s some cool stuff out there.
