Bought it 2 yrs ago. Great for beginners and experts to have fun. I agree to move the panic function to another switch bc the defaukt (bind button) is not so easy to reach at a DX9. Great demonstration! I would not dare inverted flight in this small area. My maiden flight was in the living room at safe mode. Did not crash :) wife would have killed me if she knew...

Well, you got me. I sold my Drone(Because I only need and want a Mavic Pro, but I have after seeing this video and Crash 2 crash with the older 230 V1 in the green color. This, however, is more stable and I have now been flying it and landed it over 100 times. But I have yet to try inverted. I can easy on the Phoenix Sim, but there it doesn't cost a lot to crash. I take great info from this video. Please make more. Thank you
@CoeShow619
@CoeShow619 5 лет назад
To go inverted, I use 115% D/R for Aileron and Elevator and turn the expo down to 10% or just 0. The servos are slow so go about 100 feet and do a big loop first to get used to it. You'll get it. I used to go out over very tall grass in a field so you can dump it in the soft weeds if you have to. Have fun, Coe Show

With a smaller swash on. Its not noticable,but is a little smaller swash

I own three scale helis and a few 3d ones as well. I don't fly 3d, but I do like sport aerobatics. Got myself one of these as a yard beater and to try and teach myself some mellow 3d stuff. I was VERY surprised at how well the tail held. I really didn't think they could get a motorized tail to work so well, but I was wrong. Anyways, I really like mine and have been flying it alot. It is light enough and flimsy enough that if I crash it into my house or my car, it probably won't damage anything. I was also extremely surprised by how well auto level mode works on this. For comparison, I have a scale heli and a sab fireball running Brain / Ikon with autolevel. However I never really liked how that autolevel worked and stopped using that feature on those two helis. But the autolevel on the AR636 on the 230s v2 is much much better than it had any right to be, considering the price of this heli, imo. The autolevel works beautifully on my 230s v2. Long story short, I bought the parts to build myself a second 230s v2. This one is going into a Microheli Hughes 300 scale fuselage (with the Microheli three-bladed rotor). Having good autolevel on a scale heli is nice for when you want to fly far away and still know your heli's orientation by simply feeling the cyclic stick's position. Best regards from Brasilia, Brazil.

I just got the 230s a couple weeks ago. Kinda different from my cheap quadcopters and the Blade 70s. Lotsa blades scrapes and a slightly bent tail boom. Have done flight trim twice and still likes to drift backwards. Today, did another flight trim....drifts forward. BUT, with that said I have a few successful flights in Safe Mode. I wish you lived closer. I kinda need a Badass Flight guy to be like a second set of eyes.

Hi CoeShow! I was watching a lot of videos about both helis 230S and 180S. While i have my big heli (500 class), i was thinking to pick something smaller for 3d practice and possible crashes. I guess 230S is better due to electric tail, but what about main shaft, servo, and other stuff? Do they break easily in 230S due to crash into some grass? Will 180S survive crashes better despite mechanical tail?

Greetings, I am really impressed with the way you fly and I would love to fly that way. I know how to fly airplanes perfectly, but 3 months ago I bought the Blade 120 S2 and it was very easy for me, but three weeks ago I bought the 230 S Smart and it seemed to me. It makes it very difficult to fly it for me, it is very compact, what do I have to do to make it fly like the 120 in which I feel most comfortable? The radio I use is an NX8.

Hey CoShow love your channel i know this is a noob question but i have the 230s v2 also you mention in your video that you have 15 expo and dual rate to 125 to fly it in your yard, Is that only for stunt 2 setup? Trying to setup my tx on the DX6 Gen 3 with this heli
@CoeShow619
@CoeShow619 5 лет назад
I fly one rate. Just go in D/R and expo and set it. Higher number is a higher roll rate. I use about 15% on expo for Aileron and elevator. Numbers should be the same. 125% aieleron, 125% elevator and expo on both. Don't need to do rudder. Set radio as manual states with everything else.

Another thing that helps, is a digital pitch gauge. Make sure blades are flat at center stick in hold mode. Adjust links to make blades flat at center stick if they are not. Now zero the pitch gauge while at center stick. Now go to travel adjustment on pitch. Go to high stick, and read gauge. It's probably about 11 degrees. Take it to 14 degrees by making number bigger, now do low stick, take it to 14 degrees. Use the D/R and Expo adjust on your 360cfx too. I use 110% and 25-30% expo. Aileron and elevator rates are the same. Expo is too. Have fun.

@@CoeShow619 How come there is more expo on the 360cfx than let's the 230s v2? In the 360 3s cfx manual it says zero expo on everything but i guess it depends on flying style. Been practicing alot on the new RF9 sim that just came out but not sure how accurate the handling is on sim versus the real thing.Thanks for your input loving my helis so far 360cfx is best heli i've owned so far.

Hell I couldn’t get mine to hover. It wanted to take off moving left or right and some times front and back. It was not easy. Hell I crashed it in the yard trying to hover and get videos to send to horizon and it broke the frame.. owned it for like 4 hours.
@CoeShow619
@CoeShow619 3 года назад
Well, when you learned to ride a bike, you had training wheels, you kinda balanced, then dad pulls them off and you crash about 50 times before you don’t crash any more. It is not the helicopters fault. This is not easy. That’s why we do it. Get a DJI drone if you want to watch it fly itself. It’s a helicopter dude. Practice.
@KnightsGarage
@KnightsGarage 3 года назад
@@CoeShow619 While I agree with you. It’s not practice win as soon as it lifts off it darts to the lift and I have to apply almost full right on the right controller stick to keep it from going left no matter where I’m at? Even in my basement that is not air-conditioned and there’s no wind. And both helicopters did this. I went and purchased a second one after the first one crashed and broke the frame. And it does almost the exact same thing as soon as it lifts off it wants to pour hard to the left. Even horizon said they should not do this and asked me to send the first one back to them. In this video there’s one point where you’re not even touching the controller and it’s pretty much hovering it self. Even when I hit the panic button and let off of the right control stick it just darts violently to the left. I need help on what I could be doing wrong not criticism like “practice dude”. I know I will need years of practice the flower one like you but even the box say this is great for beginners and requires a little to no input to hover in place. Not the case for either of the 230s smart’s I have purchased.
@CoeShow619
@CoeShow619 3 года назад
@@KnightsGarage As you said. They both do the same thing. There is nothing wrong with the 230s. It’s always going to be like balancing a basketball on your finger. And the low hover has a ground effect rotor wash that you are flying in. It’s just practice. Get a simulator.
@KnightsGarage
@KnightsGarage 3 года назад
@@CoeShow619 Yeah but harassing said the first one shouldn’t do that and I had to send it to them for evaluation and repairs. So it would seem even though I agree it shouldn’t be doing that. Does yours just take off to the left so hard you have to go for right on the state just to keep it from running away to the left? No matter where you are? Even inside a building with no fans or anything? It’s like every video I see even dudes that say this is their first time flying a helicopter their hover is much more stable than what I’m saying. I agree I need practice, but in my eyes it is not functioning as advertised when it says on the box it’s good for beginners and requires little input to hover and center. Even when I press the panic button it darts to the left violently. where do I get a simulator?

Brett Mccafferty Probably the motor. The motor is meant to represent the gears in the tail and when you go to the left, or the nose of the heli goes to the right, the motor shuts off and allows the force of the main gear from the heli to spin the heli. @CoeShow619
@CoeShow619 3 года назад
If you can find a body, it would be up to you to make sure the center of gravity is correct, and it would be light enough to fly. A bird does not have hollow bones for no reason. The more weight you add, you are gonna have to run a higher headspeed, or add more pitch, or both, or a longer blade, and the list goes on. Everything is a trade off in science. If you weighed more, without gaining muscle and strength, you will not run as fast. Or carry a kid and try to run,m it's gonna slow you down. Buy a 550-700 heli if you need a scale look. They can handle the weight.

No. The 75% rate is too low for me. I use 110% on all. And no expo because servos are already slow.

Hi I’m really finding it hard to to fly out of safe mode also when I go to idle up one mode the heli feels so disconnected also when I go back to safe mode the tail shakes and the heli is not fly able any suggestions would be much appreciated I have been flying for a while but am struggling to fly out of safe mode I need to master this heli before I can progress to the 270 cfx and the align 450l

You have what is called Safemodeitis. It is a hereditary problem, which you learn something without the entire story. Safe is cool an all for hovering, and getting off the ground, but any other helicopter, no matter how good it looks, the pilot is doing the balancing act and keeping it in control. So, in reality the helicopter is doing what it’s supposed to in idle 1 and 2. Add some positive expo of about 30%. And realistically, low rates don’t work for anyone if you want control, so turn the D/R up to 125% on aileron, elevator and rudder. Now go to travel, go to pitch, and make that 100 a 110 and the other 100 for low stick a 110. You just increased the pitch. Rudder you can use about 10% expo. Now, the art is to use settings like that, and find a headspeed for idle 1 and 2 that is not so low it’s lethargic, but not so high it’s scary. So 2 is the highest at like 85% flat line, and 1 is like 72% , so you can hear a see a difference. Try to get off the Safe, and the safemodeitis will go away. Hope that helps.

Any suggestions on what's happening when I go onto stunt one and my heli wants to fly backwards? Does my trims change when I switch to stunt 1 and 2 ?
@CoeShow619
@CoeShow619 5 лет назад
You have to fly it. When you switch modes, stability mode is off. Flying a helicopter is constant input. It is like spinning a basketball on your finger. You have to stay under it. If it drifts backwards, push forward on the cyclic and stabilize it. It's a balancing act of inputs. You are also in rotor wash when you are leaving the ground. So the heli will have to defeat it's own wind before it will become stable. 10" off the ground is where it will become comfortable. Just practice.

It just seems to die down as soon as I flip it, same with 3d mode.. any suggestions?

lucas macmillan go to Throttle curve in Stunt 1 and make sure it is 70% in all of 5 those boxes. Go to stunt 2 and put 85% in all 5 of those boxes. Take the blades off. Spool up on table. Click into Stunt 1. Check the throttle. Does it die out now.

The 230s V2 is the way to go. Just follow the manual for your particular Spektrum radio, and you will be hovering in just a few hours. Get used to the throttle hold switch, so if you get off balance and start to go into the deck, you can kill the motor so the rotor is not under power to avoid damage. If you do that, it will last you a very long time, and it can teach you light 3d once you are comfortable. Get an understanding of how a helicopter works, so you can actually know it's flight concept. Happy Flying, stay in touch.. Coe Show
