I've had my Hornady LNL press for well over 20 years and I'm very happy with it as I have reloaded ammo almost every day since I bought it with minimal troubles. I really thought I'd have it worn out by now but it still serves it's purpose of loading my assortment of 23 rifle and handgun ammo cartridges for my friends , family and myself . I have sold a few presses for Hornady after showing some people how well my press works . I did help some people get their press set up since they we're not quite as mechanically inclined as myself. After getting each one set up it never failed that I would hear from the new LNL press owner..Gee that was easy. You don't have to be all that savvy just read the instructions and in no time you're producing the best ammo you can shoot. Keep up the great work Hornady !!
I actually have accumulated 8 Hornady lock and load AP presses over the years. They are my pride and joy. I don’t concern myself with spending the money on a lock and load AP press. I know at any time of my choosing i would be able to sell them for even more than I paid. I have loved loading on my Hornady presses and one great thing parts and accessories are so easily available for us with Hornady. I failed to mention the excellent warranty offered by Hornady. I have had few parts fail but when they did Hornady was right there to send me the part at no charge. Great company Hornady. More option more better. Only thing that would make me happier would be if Hornady was to announce the development of a six or seven station press, I would be the first guy in line to buy.
I have the same Hornady press with the auto case feeder. 9mm is especially problematic. My case feeder drops cases out of the drop tube at any angle causing them to fall into the processed case box or behind the shell plate so when the ram goes up it smashes the case sideways into the decapping pin and bends or breaks it. This is because the small drop tube provided is way too big to hold 9mm so they drop out straight. The v block is designed to tip the case over as it is pushed towards the shell plate. The v block regularly tips the case and the edge of the rim catches as it tries to cross the retention spring. The hopper jams up all the time. I spend more time unjamming the pile of crap hopper than what it takes to manually feed the cases.
I've had my LnL AP for 3 years. I have made numerous attempts to remedy the "spilled powder/powder jump" issue as the shell plate rotates into detent. I have even made calls over the years to Hornady regarding this issue with no solution from their engineers. They stated that they were aware of the issue -as mine was not an isolated case- and that the engineers were working on it. I cannot recommend this press until this issue is resolved. I have never been able to utilize full progressive loading without using my free hand to steady the shell plate during every lever pull. Pretty sad. Hope yours works out for you.
All progressive auto indexing loaders do this. I have loaded thousands of rounds with almost a dozen different calibers and I have experienced very minimal issues. Holding the shell plate like you speak of? Many competitive shooters that I know run all different brands of loaders that way. This is not a design flaw, it is the physics of powder. Highboy
You need a video on setting up the pawls. This is a complicated AP that needs some setup tuning and optimizing. I do like the LNL presses and the free bullets!
ive have a lnl ap and love it when i first got it set up it wouldnt feed primers so i adjusted the breakaway out a little and its been fine every since i love this press lots of hand room.thanks sean
The DVD that came with the press shows the ejector clip, which my press doesn't have and I panicked, but now watching this video I don't see it either, so I am confused. Should the press come with one or is it outdated version that had one? The thing is, when I run my 38 special cases, they don't get ejected, they get pulled "bump" but they don't fall. I inserted a loaded round and it leaned 45 degrees outward and kept rotating with each stroke. Help!
Picked up an AP two years ago and have had nothing but problems with it, numerous parts replaced by Hornady but still have problems. They really need to fix the ejection problem , when using the press and a round is at the ejection station it locks up the press. Been using RCBS for 40 years without a problem. Next press will be a Dillion...I'm done with Hornady.
At 7.03 when you drop the bushing in what stops it from sliding all the way out? I am really messing up with trying to get my press set up as cannot figure out how to put this piece together properly. Probably something really simple but I cannot stop it from sliding right out the bottom.
I have problems with the primers not dropping into the slide consistently and the bullet die doesn’t drop bullets consistently either it drops 2 or non Frustrating press to work with
I’ve had mine 6+ yrs and I’m almost over it! Rare to have a trouble free session, random hiccups etc. Customer svc is great but who cares if you have a lot of problems. Should have bought blue cause I’m feeling blue??? Small part broke last week so I ordered it to fix then today another issue with auto shell case feeder!
The Lock-N-Load AP does not ship with additional lubrication for assembly but any generic general-purpose grease will suffice. You will also need to be sure to have the following tools required for assembly: 7/16" End Wrench (2) 1/2" End Wrenches 15/16" End Wrench 3/32" Hex Wrench (included) 1/8" Hex Wrench (included) 5/32" Hex Wrench Needle Nose Pliers Electric Drill 5/16" Hex Wrench One Shot Gun Cleaner & Lube along with One Shot Case Lube are always handy to have around. Thank you for your question! Our Technical Service Representatives are also available at 1-800-338-3220 for any further questions or details.
Seems I have noticed that some poweder measures use bushings.. Looks like this one uses a Micrometer screw adjustment yet they still mention a Powder bushing.. Can I assume that you still use different volume powder bushings for large Calibers VS small Calibers ect ?
Thanks for loading an updated video. Can you do the same for your case feeder and bullet feeder. The videos that come with these items are useless, especially if your having set up issues.
how come you guys dont provide all the parts to reload with the press? You guys ask your customers to fork over alot of money for your presses that are not ready to reload out of the box. You guys should sell them caliber specific with the press and let your customers decide to buy any other caliber they want.
This doesnt show nearly everything you need to know to start relaodong they skip over some of the most important things and I ended up having to disassemble the entire powder drop assembly after I set it all up and filled in because they skippedright over the two different sizes and multiple other small but important things it kinda sucks that I can't get the info I need from the company that makes the fucking thing this is by far one of the worst videos it will just have you set up your press completely wrong for what you want to do
My powder measure reservoir shattered into oblivion I have a replacement reservoir but have no idea how to install it can anyone give me instructions on how to reinstall the reservoir?
I really hope that Hornady One Shot doesn't do anything bad to the plastic in the Powder Hopper, since the included video shows the guy spraying it inside quite liberally. Wish I saw this video beforehand. Also, you should have a note about the plate that goes underneath the press for the Ammo Plant (required for the sliding shell loader) I had to break down my whole setup after the case feeder was installed, not fun.
Didn't you get a Operation Manual with your press? The longest sleeve is for pistol.. The #1 with the smallest inside diameter hole is for .22 caliber through .270 caliber and the third and shortest #2 is for 7MM thru .45 caliber rifle cases such as 45-70 .
Awesome the way Uall give such fime info on yr products. Trying 2 enter the #20 contest on Twitter but not sure entry procedure? Big fan of Uall sadly only use the lil 38 spl kit slow hand load fm the 70's but got nuff practice ammo as a Leo Park Ranger 2 keep up my skill level. TY agsain Big fan fm way back then!
