Mistake number 1: You went to Australia

Surprised there’s not a lot of spider horror games based in Australia, it’s horrifying

So far the game looks very promising, but sometimes the notes you find around use a very poetic language and subjective adjectives, which doesn't help to make them look like scientific reports and researches

Manly is always so quiet but his videos are always so fun, i cant understand that

Based solely on the monster design from the thumbnail, I was surprised to see this wasn't a Zed Tech game clicking onto the video and seeing the author's name.

Smart enough to build a giant RV research vessel which is self-driving, automatically detects anomalies and which has sophistocated analysis capabilities, but still needed to kidnap and imprison someone in it to... pull a lever? Fun little game, but the reason for the guy being kidnapped is pretty dumb if you stop to think about it for a moment.

Surprisingly very realistic in terms of the animals. Sad that one thing was forgotten. That being the Drop Bear. Then again there was not that much trees in the game so that could explain why it was not in this game. ( But I still find it odd that one was not encountered.. But I guess the maker of the game was just a bit too focused on one specific animal. Oh well. Side note.. That dead worm/snake was not a iron lung reference. Those things while rare they do exist in Australia and can be found sometimes in less populated areas. They are technically an invasive species as they where originally from a different country. )

I like the atmosphere that the game conveys. it's similar to games where you control a drone, but in this one you're inside a drone. This recon transport creates the illusion of security, separating you from the unknown horror that reigns on the other side of the skin. And then you find the skeletons of other similar transports and realize that you're not safe at all. Very similar to the horrors about submarines only on the ground. The feeling of being inside this thing is also well conveyed, these swaying movements, newspaper-covered windows and orientation only by external cameras. By the way, I did not fully understand the control: are you in full control of the movement or can you only move forward and backward, and the vehicle turns automatically?

To anyone else, this is a creepy expedition into pitch-black darkness with unspoken horrors out to eat your heart. But to an Aussie this is just Tuesday evening dealing with those roo-roo ass sheilas again

It is kinda funny in that saddening way that while the game and Iron Lung end the same, the kangaroo mutant isn't a stupid JPEG moving at you rapidly.

It does very clearly wear its influence on its sleeve pretty overtly. But I think it did enough to differentiate itself to be more than just a spoof or fangame sort of thing. There was clearly a bit of interesting lore built into the thing and it is a unique enough spin on the concept to be its own thing. The Australian outback is also not a place you see a lot of horror content made about, some certainly but nowhere near the number of such pieces of fiction as say all the campgrounds in the New England Wilderness areas. I also think it was fairly well made for what it was. The jump scare ending was fairly predictable but I think if you wanted to taking this game as proof of concept you could certainly make a longer more meaty experience out of it.

As a true blue myself I can confirm that the kangaroos do look like this irl (if you drink some grog)

I felt like Manly might have missed out a lot of stuff, but then again the fact he hasnt used the Thermal Vision thing. Bas gaslit me into thinking it doesnt exist, with how much manly ignores or doesnt know about it lmao

Sometimes, you just need the right setting to make a familiar horror concept work. Unsurprisingly, Australia fits the bill. This was a good time, the right balance of silly and scary.

As a True Blue Aussie myself living on my uncles ranch herding cattle and chasing after my sheila, I can say that everything depicted in this game is accurate to the real country.

For an Iron Lung clone this sure has more lore lol

This was a really cool little game, but what is the point of the two seats/wheels/cameras? A single seat fills the same purpose especially with an option to switch between cameras. This also means that you would actually want to react to motion detected by checking behind you rather then just ignore it. It is an extra step that never pays off. To compare this to Iron Lung, the incentive to walk across the sub was things were invisible. To see you needed to do this. It created anticipation. Especially with the alien sights you see this meant you don't know what to expect. Walking across the RV to see earth things doesn't have this. Don't get me wrong, this was a neat little game. It would be much better if the mechanics fit together or accomplished something because you're left with elements that are both walking sim and sitting sim in turn feeling like most of it is padding.

Honestly, a game like this would be an amazing horror co-op where you have to have someone watch your 6 as things sneak up on you or lurk in the shadows behind you, so the guy driving doesn't see too much too often while the guy in the back has to like... flash shit real fast to scare things away; however, you can't flash too often because that brings unwanted attention.

Now i want an emu horror game.

As if the outback at night wasnt scary enough. Those things really got the drop on you. youd think theyd add drop bears.

Halfway through this and I feel like you forgot a mechanic entirely, though admittedly the game never explained how to use it. The audio clearly tells you to use the "thermal vision" to see things in the dark. Which is why I think you missed almost everything happening. Unless the audio just lied about you actually having FLIR. But the camera even had a battery power bar for it that never dropped.

Considering how alstraulia lost to emu...i was hoping for seeing emu running at high speed carrying guns

I was actually hoping this would give us one of *Australia's* mythical monsters - likely a yowie a bunyip giving the roaring, but with the distant figure we saw I was really hoping for the kinie ger. You barely ever hear anyone talk about the kinie ger. Seeing there was only just a giant undead ratman was actually disappointing.

honestly surprised more people arent talking about the atmosphere this game creates while still being in familiar-ish territory. here your out and about in the australian wilderness in some excuse of a vessel. not trapped in a metal coffin at the bottom of an alien blood ocean. not even stuck at the bottom of a regular ocean. out on land where humans are most viable. and yet this game still makes you feel uneasy at this. your given descriptions and vague images of horrors your probably going to come across in this. and it gives me vibes of a death march. you know their out there. you know your gonna run into those things. you just _know_ your gonna have to deal with them at some point while your going down this route. the pitch-black sky and overall limited vision only barely given to you by your rv's headlights... honestly might just be the primal fear of being stuck out in the wilderness with only a campfire to give light and knowing theirs hungry. predatory eyes staring at you from the distant darkness. only afraid to come close because of the very light source that allows you to see... certainly a scenario some horror games should take note of.

It took me 15 minutes to figure out you were in the thing the cameras are on! I thought at first the front camera was a rover your sending in and the back camera was the camera on your shelter lol then when I saw the back camera scenery change I thought they were BOTH a rover you sent out for recon! Then 10 seconds before we see the other vehicle like yours but torn in half, I saw the scenery shake and realized it was your “RV” the whole time

The sounds from the RV and the sound for the camera looking around was actually putting me to sleep til I heard "lifeform detected" and fr my eyes opened at the same time as he let go of the lever so I got an eye opening sound effect
