Just letting you know the modern looking saddles are English saddles and are typically used for jumping, dressage, etc. the bigger indie looking saddles are western saddles used for barrel racing, western pleasure, reigning, etc.

Horse jumping, horse racing etc - are natural to certain horse breeds and is perfectly fine, healthy and natural. More slender horses are typically used in dressage/jumping and the slightly more bulky horses are used for western style/barrels etc. Then you have the larger large horses that are used for pulling carriages, pulling other large things. Each horse breed has it's own uses traditionally..not always the case..like we had a Clydesdale who was just a riding horse. Hopefully this helps some! Great responses in the comments too.
I wouldnt say horses used for Western is bulkier than for example a english fullbreed. They are way bygger and taller and less agility shaped than for example a american quarter horse or a american paint horse. More muscle on the rear on the last 2 breeds i mentioned yea but far from bulkier. My little sister plesure horse is slim and toned and he's a quarter horse. It totally depend on what they are breed for inside the breed so to say. Reining horses is usually not as tall as plesure, Western riding horses and thoose similar classes. Barrelrace horses are often shorter (the back of the horse)and ofc very fast. The ranch classes are a bit mixed but leans more agsinst reining and barrelrace horses lookwise.
I feel like Persephone's romance is a means to an end for her. Like she goes for people that can give her an edge or give her what she wants. (I hope that makes sense) So, her going for Roberto even though he's am elder makes sense because she wants to succeed in the nectar business and he's the guy to know.
People generally don't wear helmets when they ride, except during competitions. This is based on the wild west, definitely nobody wears a helmet when on a trail ride or working on a ranch. Cowboy hat maybe!
Yeah, helmets are an english riding habit/requirement. Western riders seldom wear helmets, although it is becoming a more common occurrence these days.
There is no evidence that it is helpful. There have been studies made demonstrating that if you fall on the soft ground of the competition circuit, a helmet could save your life. There have been no studies made on riding cross-country. If you fall on a rock or something, a helmet probably won't change anything.
I lol'd when Deli said that Deedee had triplets. Poor James tried so hard for so long to get triplets and both Deli and Dr.Gluon had triplets in their games by accident. lol Also, Deli, if you wanted to, you could pretend that Yasmine and Kyle are paying child support to Rose and Persephone for Clover while she's still a teen. And maybe they buy her a tablet or something for studies.
I love that Rose and Persephone have triplet toddler Aunts/Uncles because DeeDee just had to have all the drama and it’s all Persephone’s fault. I just imagine DeeDee telling Kyle and Yasmine that she asked Persophone’s advice and she was just so supportive that she knows Kyle and Yasmine won’t mind helping her raise the babies in her old age. Poor Kyle just can’t escape raising babies. 😂
Wild horses have to jump over fallen trees, small streams, and other obstacles its a natural skill that they have to be good at jumping over things so it may not be the best thing for joints but a lot of horses really enjoy it!!
Wild horse do avoid it of it isn’t necessary and very few horses actually enjoy it. Being thought to endure it and feeling the adrenaline that comes with it is not the same as enjoying it. I’ve seen very little horses jump over something when they are in full freedom (except maybe to get to other horses or food or whatever).
That might be true for low obstacles, but the high ones are definitely bad for the horsies. Also, horses that are bred for competitions are often trained way too young and sometimes with torturous methods (barring)
Just an FYI for helping you with your horse terminology, the big saddles with all the straps are western saddles and the fancier bridles are western style as well, the smaller saddle and bridle are English style “tack” which is the name for the saddles and bridles :) hope this helps you and anyone else who aren’t horsey people.
The smaller bridle without the brow band looks more like a head collar than something we use here in the uk, our bridles in the uk look a lot like western bridles too
To add to this, the “blanket” you put on is just for saddles. The Sims don’t appear to have included blankets (or rugs as we call them in the UK) for daily wear in cold/rain

It is used for jumping. When horses are jumping, they use the leggings. They’re actually bandages rolled around the legs to keep the bars from hurting the legs
Deli, Velvet sleeping while standing is not a glitch at all, horses actually do that, because that way its easier for them to protect themselves, since getting up takes a little bit of work xD it also happened in my game and I thought it was a cute detail 🫶🏻
I like how everything is not easy. Things take time in this pack which I think is good. It lets players be more involved with the horses and the skills that come with them. The aspirations being “short” is nice too. There’s a lot to them, and it’s not easy to get the skills up. For me personally it’ll be nice to go through the pack and take my time rather than getting it done in one day like strangerville.

i love the idea of Persephone marrying the mysterious rancher, yes he's an elder but maybe she's doing it to get his ranch so they can sell it for their dream ranch. Possible little gold digger scenario if you will lol (p.s. it's pronounced bridle like bride ul lol)
during the harvest fest family reunion, watching persephone playing with one of her toddler aunts/uncles (?? 😂) was so cute! I can’t wait for when she finds her true love one day and start her own family, especially with a nectar making family-run business like that would be really cute 😆💗
I’m not gonna lie I was worried they were only going to have western saddles but I’m happy that there’s at least one English saddle. I did a lot of equestrian and dressage as a kid and the only time I used a western saddle was at summer camp and I hated it 😅
I used a english saddle alot until I tried a Western saddle and I never went back. They are so much more comfortable. It depends ofc what you are doing when riding. I wouldnt want to jump in a Western saddle but I would never go out on the trail for hours in an english saddle. Still happy they included both in the expack.
Wait until you use it in game. There are no stirrup leathers and it is just western irons floating on your sims feet 🤦🏻♀️ I think the English saddle was a very half assed late addition
To keep it short, horses do actually sleep standing up! They're big so it's easy for us to forget they they are prey animals. Their joints sort of lock place when they sleep so if they hear a predator approaching, they can just run away. Horses also reach REM sleep like we do instead of just their light sleep while standing, so they have to lie down for a deep sleep

Just to help hope you out hope you don't mind @Deli the saddle you chose for your horse is a western saddle best way to tell is the "horn" the thing that sticks out of the front of the saddle. The other saddle is called the English saddle used when show jumping and such 😊
A lot of horses wear a harness all the time - which is what you saw under the bridle. Which you pronounced correctly. But normally a bridle includes reins and either a snap bit or curved bit. Also a bridal can also have a nose lead instead of a bit.
They could've made a body suit or protective looking pants and you could choose to make nectar in your outfits or with coverings. Kinda like when you sunbathe and can choose
Horses more often then not sleep on their feet as they are prey animals only times you will see a horse sleeping on the ground is if they are completely comfortable in their surroundings like in the stable for instance where they know they will not be attacked.

The mercantile in old western America is like a general store where you buy your dry goods and food plus clothing and materials to make clothing. They are sort of like grocery stores what we call them in modern times.

I grew up loving horses, and lived on a farm for much of my childhood. I’ll never forget my grandma dropping me off back home and my mom walking me into the barn, and surprising me with a horse. She was an American quarter horse & was accompanied by a Paint horse as well. My mom and I immediately got on my horse, who trotted down the driveway, and…. Just stood in the middle of the road.
I would absolutely LOVE to see you build a rustic wedding! They are so beautiful and you could even decorate with debug nectar bottles. The gorgeous wood tones with lots of greenery in the map. You always make the most beautiful builds I’d love to see it! 💕🌿

I know Persephone’s thing is nectar making but maybe you should rescue another horse so she can focus on the community job boards as well as making the nectar and making the money while rose is a champ rider. Haha I feel she would totally take advantage of Roberto to just learn his secrets but when she realizes he’s gonna die soon she feels bad and then finds her true love.
Jumping horses can hurt their joints of course same as a human competing in a sport. It happens but trust me if jumping horses wasn’t good for them 99% of riders wouldn’t dare to put their horses through it cause we’re so protective of our babies. 💗 also just another this the blanket you put on velvets everyday wear is actually called a saddle pad and it goes under the saddle! You wouldn’t put it on by itself cause it would fall off all the time 😂 loving this series Deli!

As for your comment of if training for jumping is bad for horses joints-riders/trainers jump in moderation, they absolutely don’t jump Olympic heights every time they train, because you don’t need height to train ride-ability. Jumping is usually only trained 2/3x per week and the rest is on the flat :) It can absolutely be bad if over trained but that’s the same as over training muscles at the gym ❤

About the crashing, lil simsie did a video about making 750 mini goats and during it it crashed where her screen went black like yours and recovers like Normal. This happened to me and my sister too and we both have this pack
So the sleeping standing up is not a glitch. Horses sleep standing up often. They get about 5 hours of sleep and most of that is standing. Jumping and other disciplines both western and english are perfectly fine for a skilled rider to do. It's no different than a person learning a sport. Most horses love and need exercise of many kinds. I'm a riding instructor so hope that answers your question
I never thought about it, but Mercantile must be one of those North American words and is meaningless outside like the US and Canada (excluding Mexico only because I don't know the word in Spanish, though it's probably similar). I know it from y'know Little House on the Prairie and like every single western tv show my grandpa and my mom have ever watched lol. It is mostly an antiquated word in 2023 tbh but it's basically like a general store.
I love the story behind Roberto & Agnes, its so so sad but i love the lore, hes the town drunk because of it & shes always angry because of what happened, I hope Deli figures it out
Great question about jumping! Vet student and horse person here- jumping doesn’t hurt them at all, it is a bit harder on their legs at high levels just like how a human runner may get injured due to the high level of activity, but we do a lot to take care of their legs and prevent injury!
Western riding is for western pleasure barrel racing and other western sports like rodeo English is used mostly for showjumping dressage and flat work but you can do flat work on either people everywhere use both western and english hope this helps
I was kinda right about Velvet’s breed cuz the cob is bred from a mix of dales and clydesdales. But that makes them a mixed breed so anyone saying the breed was a mix was kinda right.
I installed this pack yesterday and played a bit - my horse wants to hang out in my house. 🙂 I watch another simmer - her horse increased in value to over 43,000. They kept entering events and winning.
For horses irl up to 3 times a week is typically the max as it can be strenuous on the joints. But like with running in people your joints adjust to the activity level.
It's definitely not just you about the Roberto thing.... I genuinely feel that making him a adult could have been a good idea but you know they were anticipating thent Thirsty reaction
What a beautiful horse. Horses are so much fun once you get used to them. I used to get ribbons for riding. Horse back riding can be so much fun, you should try it sometime.
You could've decorated the ranch for harvest fest (using The Attic Stack Decoration Box) and then sold the items afterwards that's a great way to earn a few simoleons quickly.
I don’t think the age thing is a big deal! They are both consenting adults.. also good storyline as to why P needs to make the vitality nectar to bring her lover back to life or keep him young so they die together ❤
