The horses of The Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery are Light Irish draft/thoroughbred cross the same as those of The Household Cavalry , not As a certain site has said Cleveland Bays . The Cleveland Bays are based at The Royal Mews Windsor and are mainly carriage horses used to draw the carriages at State occasions , they are not part of the Army . Also white socks/ stockings and white blazes are not allowed in the breed standard . There are several black horses in The Kings Troop used as a team of 6 for funerals . A great watch is The Musical Drive where the 6 teams of 6 horses pulling the gun carriages perform a spectacular choreographed routine .
Let me sing you the song of my people. 😂These troopers spend more time with the horse when they are having a funny five minutes, I prefer it to the men who give them a quick pat and play ring around the rosies. They spend time with them and try and help settle them down, and when it's obvious they aren't going to settle down they don't engage in a battle of wills. I feel so sorry for the trooper, that's a lot of horses to get through in an hour.
