Come with us for a trip down memory lane! It has been 10 years since the remarkable July 4th event at the Horseshoe Curve to celebrate its 150th Anniversary. We dug into our vault and found analog recordings of the event. Though this is not intended to be a full recount of the event, please enjoy for historical purposes as we look back 10 years!
See the light train, with two NS 9-40CW's on each end, bring the consist of well cars with Sylvannia lights around the Horseshoe Curve. The train also has the specially painted commemorative box car in the center of the train. This box car now sits at the Railroaders Memorial Museum in Altoona, PA.
The Horseshoe Curve was completed and opened for traffic on February 15, 1854.
NOTE - This video was shot with analog video and audio equipment and is presented for historic purposes.
