I think the reason people are more forgiving is because it's the only Seuss movie that doesn't muck up the moral. In fact, it kind of ingenuously expands on the moral by having Horton forgive that kangaroo. It's not perfect but it's at least a step in the right direction.

The climax is honestly the best part of the movie. The movie gets surprisingly serious near the end. I love the dynamic with how the mayor interacts with the town but my least favorite part of the movie is honestly Horton himself. He can come off as a little bit annoying and in your face but I guess when you’ve discovered an entire world I would probably be happy too

Joseph Thompson I remember it, but it was all a blur, tinged with vague panic. I also remember that I blocked it out so quickly I couldn’t even really remember it as soon as the movie went to its next commercial break. I was maybe ten.

I remember watching this movie burned on a disc when I was like 3-4, and my dad told me that my brother "put it on the disk for me" so for some reason I thought up until I was like 6 that my brother fully voice acted, animated, and wrote this movie. I was a stupid kid.

Why not? Different scenes get different people. I tear up when the mom in Arrietty is taken captive even though I don't like her character because it makes me imagine my own mother being taken by something too big for me to fight. Also, I get a chill during the 'We are here' scene too.

I have a good friend who is an atheist. He doesn't run around hollering he's offended by everything coming down the pike, he doesn't give a shit. When you ask he'll tell you, I'm a hardcore atheist. He doesn't shove his beliefs down every ones throats, and go out of his way to broadcast it to everyone. Yes, he does have friends and co workers of different religions, but he doesn't care about that. It doesn't bother him usually until someone brow- beats him, then he usually lets them have it. But mostly he's ok with everyone. You believe what you want, ill believe what I want, he usually says.

When I was in kindergarten, we went on a field trip to see the live action Cat in the Hat. Fortunately it was sold out and the trip was cancelled. Unfortunately when I was in the 4th grade, we went on a field trip to see this movie, and it wasn't sold out this time. Everyone's favorite scene was the "poop butterflies" scene, which even as a kid I thought was just pandering to the lowest common denominator.

I would say I’m glad Bill was in this episode but really, he’s been in all of them giving out incredible words of advice and comfort to us and the critic. I don’t know why people don’t see him that much. All you gotta do is watch from beginning to end

The reason most people don't remember Bill in every episode is that they are not ready for the deeply impactful and life altering wisdom of Bill, hence their subconscious minds block him out and repress all memories of him. Hell, even my mind has a tendency to only remember him going "Mmmhmm!" more often than not simply because it can't handle the truths he speaks.

"A giant elephant in the sky! Don't bother looking, he's invisible." I just noticed the undertone that line carries. It reminds me of YourMovieSucksDOTorg's review of Happy Feet, where he pointed out the allegories in the beliefs and leadership of the penguin colonies. Since the creators made another religious joke that NostalgiaCritic pointed out, I wonder which side they were trying to hint at. The first suggests a religious point of view, while the latter points to an atheistic one. Maybe a bit of both. Whatever the case, it's certainly an interesting tidbit I didn't notice the first time I saw this film.

I'm honestly, like 99.999% certain that the only reason that Steve Carell's character had an emo son was because Little Miss Sunshine is a thing that exists and Carell was in that too. I mean COME ON the emo kid refuses to speak just like Dwayne? The films came out a little over two years apart. and animation takes around two years to produce. It fits WAAAY too well. I wasn't using the term to refer to films literally produced in Hollywood. I was using the term to refer to the industry overall. And FYI, the movie is not from Brazil. It was filmed in Canada by an LA-based studio (Universal specifically). So it actually _is_ a Hollywood film. It just happened to be released in Brazil first.

I’ve always appreciated how this film was able to expand the Kangaroos influence near the climax. In the book she just has the monkeys round Horton up. How does she do that? Who cares it’s a page in a book. But in the movie where they have to show that process I LOVE how it plays on the absurdity that she equates believing in a talking speck to anarchy (ANARCHY!)

Mayzie the bird. Her role could be somewhat swapped with Morton’s in the movie though (beside mayzies egg at the end hatching into a cross between an elephant and a bird) Seussical is really good in my opinion. Vlad Vladikoff didn’t play as large of a role in the musical as the movie though. The wickershams were the ones the steal the clover.

The only scene I really remember is the elephant saying they needed to make more noise or they will both be destroyed. Of course, I didn't take that as meaning the other animals would kill the elephant. But more so the emotional effect on him watching his friends die would destroy him.
