But Hamas commits one attack which was 75% military and only 25% civilian( its still war crimes) and she wants to cry constantly. Israeli Gov is 100% responsible for the attacks even happening. cutting off water for millions of civilians while also preventing them from leaving and bombing them, is going to radicalize thousands, maybe millions more sympathizers for Hamas. What Israel is doing will not bring peace for either side. Of course, there has to be a deterrent for the attack but Israel must be careful not to make the situation worse. I think the issue is no one is offering to take them, Egypt only is willing to take 2k per day, Israel clearly can't. Jordan wont take people from the west bank i doubt they will take gaza. So who is stepping up to say I'll take all the refuges?
In every war you can be certain two things are true. First, the greatest costs of war are pain and suffering. Second, war is waged by those in power but paid for by the innocent.
It is terrible what is happening to innocent Palestinian people but if Israel doesn’t destroy much of Hamas’s capabilities before the ground invasion, the battles will be much more bloody and many more Palestinians and IDF soldiers will die. There are no good choices. Israel cannot let this go. It is not about revenge. It is about insuring that an other attack by Hamas never happens again. The only thing that can make this situation better is if Egypt opens up their border to allow Palestinian civilians to temporarily go into the Sinai. They are not doing so. Probably because they fear that Hamas fighters will go into Egypt posing as civilians.

Israel left Gaza completely in 2005, with no border controls, and Hamas was elected into power in in 2006 and started firing rockets, requiring Israel to impose the blockade in 2007. If Hamas hadn't attacked, they would be their own country, and the IDF wouldn't control 3/4 of their border. Gaza doesn't have the ability to provide it's own power because Hamas embezzled the money that should have gone to maintaining and fueling their power plant, which means that it was running at 20% efficiency. Israel provided them with 65% of their needs, and Egypt chipped in 15%, which they did without any reimbursement. The same is true with water, where Hamas pulled up the water pipes in Gaza and diverted imported pipes, turning them into rocket bodies (they released a PR video on Twitter bragging about just this), thus their own water treatment infrastructure never got built. Again, Israel took care of the needs that weren't being met. The entire "Israel cutting off the water and electricity" plan is just Israel stopping the water and electric aid they have provided for the last decade. They didn't destroy Gaza's utility infrastructure--Hamas did that, and Israel just defrayed the consequences up until now (eg. the Gaza power plant exists, but Hamas doesn't have fuel for it because they didn't buy any, and the fuel aid is no longer there).

In America we have native American people on reservations after European settlers killed them & took their land. With 50% of gaza's population being under 18 you can bet they're not all in favor of Hamas terrorism. The moral high ground is to make sure that the Israeli government protects their citizens at all cost. That is why their government exists and all governments exist. Destroying the people that want to kill them is their number one moral responsibility. The government of Gaza, Hamas, chose to ignore their duty to protect their citizens by attacking Israelis. The Palestinian population became combatants when they celebrated on the streets after Hamas's actions. Actions have consequences. I tried to get a grasp on the whole situation from a historical perspective but the territorial dispute has gone on for thousands of years in the region. It is so complicated and land divided so strangely and the outside interests so vast that peace seems almost impossible. I don't know a solution that doesn't require a new way of thinking and huge compromise but the leadership in the region's needs to come to the table in good faith. I unfortunately don't see that happening without sweeping change in the region.

Only in the logic of war can one side hold up evidence and photos of brutality of the innocent by the other side to get international sympathy and then turn around and commit the same or even more acts of brutality against the other side's innocents and still except (and unfortunately receive) the moral high ground.

Isreal warns them and tell civilians to flee then attacks hamas.... but hamas won't allow there citizens to flee because they are human shields.. Cenk is starting to come around and at least tell the other side of the story, whereas Anna insists on not talking about the accountability of the Israeli government. Hamas may be brutal, but Israel's government made them the monsters that they are by illegally occupying parts of Palestinian territory, oppressing Palestinians in a modern apartheid state, and killing innocent Palestinians. Hamas didn't randomly start killing random civilians out of nowhere; otherwise, why were all rockets targeted at Israel and not Egypt? They specifically targeted Israel for vengeance of the brutality that was levied upon the Palestinians by the Israelis while the world essentially sat idly by. I don't think the so called "moral high ground" that Hamas apparently lost for the Palestinians, as TYT claims, means a whole lot to the eyes of Hamas and perhaps at least some Palestinians, who have been suffering for > a decade under Israeli oppression...exactly what tangible benefits has that moral high ground yielded for Palestinians?

There are young adults in Gaza that were born into the blockade. Born in a concentration camp. They barely have electricity and water in times of "peace". What happened on Saturday was horrific. But I don't see anyone ever asking Israelis to condemn the blockade, the THOUSANDS that Israel has butchered. Palestinians have nothing to apologize for.
Look i believe that in perspective, if the attack didn't happen; you still had raids of Palestinians homes, holy places, Palestinian kids going missing, targeting of people in these occupation, basic needs cut down to the minimum, just unbearable living conditions control by Israeli authorities. And yes there was some mainstream media giving good coverage of the factual occurrence of the situation. But nothing was being done to this. Even before the attack there was killings and raids of Palestinian homes. This is not my opinion its facts, actual timeliness of these events. So this was the direction all together it was goung to, regardless the attack on innocent Israeli people. This is the context and perspective of this hole thing, and it is very sad on both sides what is happening really. This could have been avoided really. And the solution is not complicated really.
It’s awful but the lives of Palestinians have been put in jeopardy by hamas. How many people in Gaza would have died unnecessarily this week but for what Hamas did?
Completely agree. If someone comes into my home and kills my entire family, then runs home and hides under his kid's bed, what choice to I really have? Those innocent lives are on Hamas' hands, not Israel.
