Once again, the model master has spoken. You and Luke Towan are absolute aliens when it comes to realism in model building. Thank you for sharing!
@jpsholland
@jpsholland 4 года назад
True, but for me, my impression is that Luke Towan goes for the absolute detail, no matter what it cost, while Marklin of Sweden goes for the best affordable for the average builder.
@marklinofsweden
@marklinofsweden 4 года назад
Absolutely spot on true! To be honest.. I would never have the patience to add the amount of details and precision that Luke does.. I want my stuff to be decent looking and be ready quickly at a reasonable cost. I talk to lots and lots with Model Railroaders and I think I can say I share that with most of them..

@marklinofsweden 4 года назад
Hi Peter! I fully understand your point. The vast majority of commenters want me to make tutorials based on commersially available hobby items and more towards perfection and hi-end. Me myself prefer making the videos around the methods and materials I’m actually using for different type of situations, so there will always be a balance. I’ll consider your wise words about ”going back to my roots”. One must never drift away too far from the original qualities, but always try to develop the content in a direction in line with the audience expectations. It’s RU-vid..

How did you deal with the surface tension bulge on the edge of the melted plastic? In the shots where you pour it, it is quite pronounced. Does it self level with time, or did you have to do something to it?
@marklinofsweden
@marklinofsweden 4 года назад
The trick is to make sure the plastic is hot enough before pouring. If not, you’ll end up with tall edges, which needs to be plastered.

@marklinofsweden

That is good question! I saw that as well.. I survived, but I don’t know what’s in the softner or in the plastic pellerts really. The smoke didn’t leave any smell or film inside the owen, so no problems there..

Hello, Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones. Another wonderful tutorial. Although I realize it might be sac-religious to criticize the master....I thought the banks looked a little too artificial. Too uniform. Maybe when you do your friends water feature make the bank geography more random. More blurred, less sharp. I hope that makes sense. Happy 2020 to you and yours also. Here’s to a new year filled with wonderful and informative tutorials. See ya.
@marklinofsweden
@marklinofsweden 4 года назад
Hi Norman! Well, I can just agree with you on that. This diorama was really just made to try out the hot melt water effect. I had no ambitions to make the ultimate scene, but anyway wanted to complete the scene, so it looked ready. I’m still a bit worried how the joints between new and old water will look. I’m also somewhat sceptic about how this water effect will act around wooden pillars and other objects on the sea floor.. I just don’t know.. I will probably argue for a resin solution anyway, but we’ll see.. Thank you for commenting!
