That Mando Luke was my first Hot Toys figure and remains my favorite. Also, I agree with you that scene at the end of season 2 of Mando is my favorite Star Wars moment since I saw Return of the Jedi in ‘83. Gave me all the feels.
Enjoyed seeing your list of unappreciated figures of 2023. Out of curiosity, how many figures did you pick up this past year? I also 100% agree with you that you can only provide a proper opinion on a figure if you have actually seen and held in hand. I have a hard time taking any content creator's opinion in consideration when it's purely based on images + videos.
I fully agree about Kate Bishop and Fennec Shand. Outstanding figures, both of them. I would love to get Moon Knight, I enjoyed the series and hope there's a follow up (do people realize that only Moon Knight and his fellow combatants could see the giant "god fight"?)
The most underrated figure of 2023 for me is Peacemaker. It's the FUNNEST figure I bought this year. The included tongue... it's so ridiculous and, at the same time, so awesome. With it, there's not a pose I can put him in that doesn't make me smile like no other figure I own.
The thing for me is that all figures of a shelf needs to be part of a 'scene' that I have in my head. So I can't have duplicates and they all need to be in a position that make sense for the scene, often losing a lot of space in the process!! Also, One big difference for me is that I don't care about movies (so many end up disappointing anyway!). I care for figures to be 'comic accurate'. It makes collecting much harder in some case.
I like how you give some chances for the figures that are sometimes misjudged because of the series or movie etc. they come from. Gives the best insight and not a so called „oversight“. You got me into a few hot toys myself and I’m really happy of the addition for the small collection i have now. Great work buddy :)
Oh no! I actually agree Keco!?! I love that Bats too! And Bale is my FAVORITE movie version of Batman too- And I good back to 1969 with my obsession with the Batman 😂Adam West could not touch Bale's cape! But hey, don't tell Will I agreed with you bro 😉😃😄
Thing to note if they’re under appreciated then maybe sometimes or most likely they would be on offer as they’re least popular for the reasons you mentioned
You mentioned this in passing when discussing the Iron Man... I don't really understand what people mean by "cash grab" as a negative. Aren't all collectables cash grabs? Hot Toys, Hasbro, Funko and others want their items to sell. The idea of a toy maker painstakingly crafting perfect collectables with minimal focus on profit is a fantasy. As a collector, I take this as a given...
The most under appreciated figure in our community for this year was Yelena I think! The poo poos that figure received when it drop was just ridiculous! I ordered her immediately! I appreciated Florence Pugh and her great acting that bought this C or D Marvel character to life! And Hot Toys did a fantastic job of capturing her in her white custom and green vest! And her head sculpture in hand was fantastic! It is no Ming-Fennc Shan perfection, but was damn good! When I held the piece and slowly checked the sculpture and excellent custom tailoring along with the included accessories, it hit my Collecting NIRVANA sweet spot! So many people had wrote Yelena off before even getting her in hand! Well not this OG Collector! I love it! And it is my number 10 best Hot Toy for me in 2023! Because Florence Pugh was well represented by Hot Toys in my opinion 😃🤓✨
Fun list these were absolutely a bunch of wacky weirdos, for sure. King Shark is such a chunky monkey. It's also fun to know the one person who likes that glossy blue headed batman! but to be honest if it was a Harley with a stupid glossy blue head repaint I would definitely own it too lol.
Totally agree with you on Mando Luke and Fennic. Both are fantastic releases. That Mando Luke moment is one of my top moments in Star Wars and I'm an OT baby. I absolutely disagree with the blue and gray Bale Batman. As someone who LOVES the blue and gray look the most, they absolutely chose the wrong Batman and suit for it. If they went with Bale it should have been the Batman Begins suit. Still utterly disappointed in Hot Toys for that release. But these are all just opinions! Nice vid!
Great video as always. Loved the list. XE suit is one of my favorites in my collection also. Merry Christmas and have a wonderful new years. Can't wait for the new room tour.
I absolutely love my blue baleman. It's my first ever exclusive. Even in hand, I still think they could've done better with Hailee's likeness. The Batman XE is something i really want but there's nothing really to pair him with as I'm only doing a live action Batman shelf. If I had to get a video game batman it would probably be the base arkham knight suit he uses so I can at least pay tribute to Kevin
With collections exceeding space limitations I never hear content creators talk about curating their collections. It would be interesting to know who rotates figures and how they do that to keep a clean collection without selling off figures to make space.
I'm not a content creator but since I have a lot of Iron Man figures, the only ones I keep out are the original 7, mk46 and the mk 85bd. Everything else rotates
Over the past month, I really wanted to maximize my displays without losing anything. When it's all said and done, I think I will have achieved that ✊🏼
Great list! Definitely agree on some of these like Kate Bishop who got way too much hate in the community. Of figures I actually own the WW84 Wonder Woman is excellent with a much improved body than my JL version and can even do the crossed bracer pose without breaking or damaging the joints. Also as a big ZSJL fan, Cyborg was super underrated from what I saw online while to me he was a pretty perfect release with tons of great customization with the different weapons and arms. As for overrated I actually returned the Multiverse of Madness Doctor Strange. The headsculpt was perfect but I wasn’t impressed with the cape, the body, or even the suit and also felt like he was overpriced for what you end up getting.
I would resume the video, on my eyes, with: figures that may be ok, or even good, but I don't feel any kind of attachment to display them in my collection. But well there are tastes for all the colors of the rainbow, so I guess that even me not having any desire on having them, clearly there're others that do. Except for Luke (That I've), and that celebration Iron Man that looks awesome. The armored Batman looks nice too, but not totally sold on it. The rest, an easy pass for me even if I could get them at a fifth of their value.
Can I put my order in for some new cabinets!!! Looking good so far. Mars Toys Laughing Man ( Nicholson Joker). For third party...excellent figure. Not a Hot Toy but...great alternative to a grail
Most overhyped?? Venom. Carnage. Venom and Carnage. Carnage and Venom. Ok ok ok, I've never seen either in person but they are so far out of my preference. No shade to those that love them, it's just one opinion.
My take on your top 10 : Shark : The figure looks good, especially the face but he's not for my collections (does not really match) Lady Hawkeyes/Moon Knight : The figure do look good but like you hinted it's M-She-U and aside from Spiderman and Guardian, I don't really collect Marvel anyway Infinity Ultron : Now this figure is really awesome, and I had pre-ordered it at first but the company I pre-ordered it from went out of business and so I never got it and spent my money elsewhere. Like I said I do not collect Marvel, but this one would have went into a Detolf on it's own as I think it is that good! I may still get it if it's still there somewhere next year (This year's money is already allocated...) Luke : I wanted a Luke for my Jabba display and he fitted perfectly!! I have him removing his cowl and it's pretty epic. (Not a fan of Disney SW either, including the Mando series) Fennec Shan : Same thing as Ultron I had her preordered to go with my Bad Batch and Cad Bane... But the same thing happened as with my Ultron... Bat man :: I already have the gold Arkham Batman and it's one of my favorite!! So I don't think I'll ever by another Batman ever!! C3P0 : I got the Sideshow one and regret it ever since, but he's back behind Jabba as a secondary piece so it's ok.. for now! Same with that R2... Iron Man : I don't really care for Iron Man as a character (Even though one fell on my lap at a so low cost that I got him for my Guardian Display) Bat Man : Same as the previous Batman... My personal top figure of 2023 : 10- Eternal Toys Gentleman of Crime (Penguin) 9- Hot Toys Luke 8- Hot Toys Dr Octopus 7- Mondo Skeletor 6- Hot Toys Crosshair (Bad Batch) 5- Hot Toys Delorian from BttF 2 4- Mondo Trapjaw 3- Hot Toys Cad Bane 2- Mondo Panthor 1- Mondo Battlecat
Love watching new content on your channel. I like the list for this top 10. The Batman WB 100th Anniversary is on of my favorites additions to my collection. It is sad to see how much controversy it got but it is definitely for me!
