Both nice but aesthetically the sideshow version looks better (especially the costume). It is nice you have pose options with hot toys. If you have funds and space for both; why not?

It was a good experience for me reviewing and having both in hand. As I said before it all comes to your personal preference. Really not a right or wrong choice here :)

@@Doubl3rzz I would have to disagree on some aspects, the slideshow one always looks up , not posable like hot toys. The blush is more natural in person (cameras typically don't pick it up naturally on either without a soft filter on). Some of the ski details are a tad better on hot toys. Sideshow gown is oddly cut in the front with an upward V cut that looks odd rather then proper long on front on hot toys. Do like the color of gown better on sideshow but color versus cut issue is one aspect. With a little work people can make their own even better ones and its easy to put on the hot toys by popping off head siding it over and snapping head back into pivot lock. Both are the best the market has to offer. Slide show is a good statue, while the body, build weight of hot toys is one you can pose and play with.

Yea... I think Sideshow is better in paint applications. But, Hot Toys are really good at details especially eyes, you can literally see the texture of the iris on any other 1/6 scale figures.

Hot Toys version is extra cute. Sideshow has sad expression. Grogu in the show was mostly happy. Not sad.

I cancelled my Sideshow Grogu and ordered the Hot Toys. Trust me , it was a difficult decision.

I went for the hot toys as well! The sideshow has a few things better like the robe and hands. But I personally like the face paint and face better in the hot toys etc.

Hot Toys is better. Not sure about the weird Rosy cheecks on the SideShow version. Good choice.

Sideshow is better IMO because it is made by the same company that make Grogu for the TV series. Also long term Sideshow one will not crack like what happen to many rubber based HT figures.

Hot Toys is the winner for me. I really can not stand the way the Sideshow version will always be looking up, the costume has that unnecessary cut out at the bottom which makes the costume not hang quite right, it looks very odd, the pose of the statue is not that great either. Hot Toys version for me, it is the better version IMO.😎

Good video. I have the Sideshow version but think the articulation of the Hot Toys could be the way to go, as you can get him in some cute poses. I guess I'll finally have to open mine and take a look at the little fella. Thanks for all the Star Wars content, it's appreciated.

Nice comparison on Grogu. You can't go wrong with either one, it comes down to do you want a 1:1 articulated figure or a 1:1 statue?

Correct! and that’s the whole purpose of my comparison. I personally like articulation so rather have the HT. But that does not mean that the SS is bad because it is not at all! 🤗🤗🤗🤗

If you want a screen accurate replica and you don’t mind that it is a statue then the Sideshow / Legacy studios is the one to go for. It was produced and manufactured by Legacy who made the ones for the series and distributed by Sideshow. The Hot toys is less screen accurate but if you want articulation its the way to go. My only concern with the Hot toys is the poseable mouth being made of silicon / rubber which has cracked on so many figures they have released. It also looks more like a toy imo. For me the Sideshow / Legacy figure is better.

Also the design was a collaboration between Legacy and Sideshow, and again Sideshow manufactured the product. Legacy had nothing to do with the final product making it to your doorstep or mass producing it.

Revisited this video after deciding to buy the HT. How has yours held up? Any issues with the jaw tearing? I’ve heard that this is a known defect with some.

Absolutely. Do not like that at all. Those lines around the bottom of the ears make it look less lifelike. But I love everything else about HT. Wish they didn’t do that to his ears

How well will the soft rubber on the HT figure hold up over time? I've heard complaints and saw videos about the jaw ripping already. And as the soft rubber ages it'll become dry rotted. Like the o-rings in GI Joe figures from the 80s. I'm not sure if it's a solid long term investment but I do like it more than the Sideshow version.

Both versions are great for sure! HT one you can pose your figure. SS is more like a statue. I personally decided to keep the SS one :)

Oh man. Those o rings lol. The right size rubber plumbing washers has helped me in the past. That was back in the day. Not sure if they sell replacement ones nowadays. But man you brought me back with that comment. All my 80s Joes are in storage somewhere

The Sideshow version (which I've owned) is the more realistic one, but IMO the Hot Toys looks like "how you remember" The Child - exaggerating the cuteness. You'd be happy with either one BUT (at least in Australia, in 2023) you can still get the Sideshow new, but Hot Toys are all gone. If the Sideshow version had a cuter/warmer expression and the pose-ability of the Hot Toys it would be a clear victory.

can you help me decide on what to buy? sideshow is kinda cute and sturdy and i think it would last very long, while hot toys got so many negative review this month with it's chin ripping when you keep the mouth close...

We’ve seen many issues with the HT Grogu recently. However, not all the figures had that problem. So I would still give it a shot just because having a life size figure with articulation is hard to beat. Thanks for watching :)

The only thing Hot Toys lack is blood vessels. On the Sideshow version, there is a clear blood vessel on the ear.

I love how you can pose HT Grogu. Love it. But. I’m not a fan of those removable ears. The lines around the base of the ears is not a good look. SS Grogu looks more life like around that area. But I also LOVE how HT Grogus mouth can be manipulated. HT would have had my vote 100 percent of it wasn’t for those ears. Overkill.

Good video. Glad I chose the hot toys one. I think face looks better. For some reason the sideshow one looks older. But again they’re both really good. I like that the hot toys one has much more options with mouth and hands and sitting

Hot Toys version looks like it's been commissioned by Hasbro. Looks like you could pick it up at ToysRUs for 99 dollars. Sideshow is more screen accurate hands down.

Some people are biased because they've already bought and paid for the Sideshow version and they need to justify their purchase. The comparison of the cheeks, Hot Toys has rosy cheeks and Sideshow has a rash. As someone who hasn't paid for either yet and has zero bias, given the choice between the two, the Hot Toys clearly is the better figure overall with better display options because it is poseable. But you're paying for that, since it's also more expensive.

It all depends on what you like. Some people prefer HT others SS. In reality there is not right or wrong choice so I let you guys to decide which on is best for you :) I (personal choice) like HT better. Again thats just me :)

Not one person on Earth would choose a statue over a figure for the same price. They also look exactly the same except one you can actually interact with and pose the way you like. When you order a steak you tell the chef how you want it, not the other way around.
