HOUSE BUILDING IN THE PHILIPPINES - EPISODE 17: MAZE OF TIE BEAM Message us: Facebook: / retiredandhappyinph Email: retiredandhappyinphilippines@gmail.com
Thank you for posting abouy the construction of your house maam and sir. I've learned a lot. I am an architecture graduate havent experience site yet. But ny watching your videos. helps me understand the real construction process in every way.. Thank you
Ohmygoodness....this corner footing tie beam should be connected Column to Column.....Never do it this way....like connecting 2 cantilever beams in one corner..... Totally Wrong and it will serve no purpose at all. Footing tie beam must be installed immediately on top of the Concrete Footing and must be Connected Column/Footing to Column/Footing. The purpose of this FTB is securing those isolated footings into One Structure....so that in case of an Earthquake the whole building structure will Move like a Solid One Structure to eliminate structural damages or minimise building damages. Good example is like putting a solid block of wood on top a jelly or gelatin in a piece of plate....when you shake the plate....the whole block just move as one.
They are doing the concrete foundations, so the size of these beam on video look like not adeguate, too small. You need the preliminary control of the ground resistence by a professional geolog. After this you can calculate and design the beam foundations size. These beams are important because all the building start from these primary structures.
I don’t see the engineer on site.what are they trying to do here, 90 degrees hook is already correct. This worker knowledge is something, better than the designer. For me as building design and construction professional this kind need to be stopped. They have to insert ties in the column beam intersection. They continue to work with all those mistakes. The corner beam is done incorrectly. The correct way is to bend abount 24. Inches bend at end and splice them together. You will have a lot comment.
I feel bad for them... It seems like no proper planning BAHALA NA mentality.... I hate it.. I'm Filipino but.. I hate the BAHALA NA mentality... Hiccups could have been prevented.. If they have planned each team brainstorm maybe before doing it. I really hope for the best for their future home.. Godbless
