I was convinced it was David until I heard about the sexual abuse, then changed my mind to Robin. However if It was Robin how did fibres from David's jumper get under Steven's nails? Either way it's a very sad case.
Great video. I am curious about the reliance on Margaret to be the person to keep house. Lots of people in the house who can assist to clean, right? If Margaret had a hoarding illness, I understand this is much more difficult, especially for kids. But, again, it is ok to say that house cleaning is a team sport!
Big fan, also a big fan of Mrballen, I suggested him the Bain murders in a DM and he seemed pretty keen on it, only later I found your videos on the topic. Keep it up, great videos. Haven't worked through all your work yet, be interested to hear your take on Scott Watson if you haven't already covered it. Keep it Kiwi As. Chur Matt
Totally believe it was David whom murdered his family. Farcical to imagine Robin would believe only David deserved to live. David had injuries in keeping with having violently fought with Stephen (bruising on his face & body)…Robin did not. David’s call to 111 was delayed long enough for the washing machine to have finished its cycle. David was believed by ambulance staff to be faking having had a seizure. David had rallied his siblings so they were all home that morning. It was David’s gun, amo and David had borrowed his mother’s glasses - with one lens found in Steven’s room. David had bruising on his body as evidenced by his friend & prison staff. To imagine Robin ( at his age) got up killed his family, changed his clothes, showered & then shot himself with a full bladder (ie had no morning pee) is ridiculous. David was being kicked out of home at the time. David stood to profit - inheriting all with no family left (& David did profit - got compensation. …he must have laughed himself to prison sleep when a high profile person took up his cause…picking holes - elevated doubt & ultimately helping him get away with it. I don’t believe allegations Robin sexually abused his daughter. It wouldn’t surprise me if David Bain had sexually abused his sister, however - as his hold over his sisters was odd. I find it repugnant that David is free, living his life and his family are still dead in the cemetery…justice was clearly not served.
I'm glad you talked about the family dynamics. I had wondered about that because clearly something wasn't right in order for someone to want to kill them. I do find it odd that all accounts aside from David state he and his dad didn't get along which makes it really odd that his dad would spare him of all people.
Super interesting! I’m about to start part 3. I’ve never heard this case - but I am in the US. In my understanding m, hoarding is also a mental illness- and if Robin and Margaret are both hoarders then the mental illness comes from both sides of the family. I feel so bad for the three younger children. I’m holding out judgment for David so far - but my inclination is to say he isn’t sane either. At 22 he could have left home and helped his mother from afar.
Thank you for tuning in!! It really is tragic that Margaret and Robin never received the mental support they needed. Who knows how things might have turned out if they had. That being said, we know mental illness can be genetic so it’s possible David has those tendencies too (even though multiple psych evals said otherwise 🙄).
Just watched parts 1 & 2 back to back and am going to watch part 3 later. So far, David is ringing more alarm bells for me than Robin (though he’s not coming up smelling of roses either, of course). Will be interesting to see whether or not I change my mind whilst watching part 3.
Very good video Jenny. Very interesting, concerning the family dynamics and problems. There are more areas of concern regarding David than there is concerning Robin.
@@jaymiemundy3305 David Bain''s bloody fingerprints were found on the side of the washing machine sugguesting David was washing his own bloody clothes.
@@matterofcrimemedia I just realized. I just found your RU-vid channel and have binged at least half your videos. I legit just got to the video that you said your "trying out the no background music" (she went for a run)I like it a lot better! I love your videos! Keep em coming☺️
I’m leaning towards David, but I’m holding off on my judgements until part 3! I really feel for everyone in this household. Robin and the children being subjected to Margaret’s mental illness’ abuse. And Margaret for suffering with untreated mental illness.
It's such a sad situation all around. I really feel for the children who were just innocents in the situation and did the best they could to live a normal life!
Jenny, just to change flavour for a second or two - have you seen the video of David performing a song from Sound of Music (prior to all this happening) ? It's kind of spooky in hindsight. Anyway, keep up the good work.
If you put the subtitles on at 9:25 the exact second she says "Greer" it says on the subtitles [Greer 00:09:25] And the same happens with the word "Fungaday" where it shows [Fungaday 00:14:00] And yet again with [dall 00:14:42]
TV3 did a very extensive, in depth investigation of this case and found several things that the police chose to ignore, like the fact that Robin has cartridge marks on his thumb and fingers from loading bullets, into the cartridge, something that David didn't have, also the time of deaths of his siblings, didn't mesh with David's delivering of the newspapers, and his return home, so everything pointed to Robin.
@@matterofcrimemedia oops sorry I'm being too eager. I thought it was missing because of the other videos being there. I shall wait patiently. Fascinating story that I've never heard of before but I am in the UK.
@@mrsmercury2565 How cool!! This is the true crime story that started it all for me, it's absolutely fascinating. I look forward to hearing your thoughts at the end of part 3 when it's live!
When you learn that your mother was just like Margaret Bain 😳. This is scarily similar to my upbringing (minus the mess and hoarding) + divorce. Southland born and raided.
Am in shock that a Mother just found out her daughter is working as a prostitute and dealing with a violent pimp. Then gets in the car to go pay off a credit card? You'd think she'd miss that as a priority?
Why would Robin have any interest in being intimate with Margaret when she was known to stink, in addition to her horrible personality and mental health issues?!! Even if she wasn't the one who physically pulled the trigger, she definitely sounds like the catalyst for all the family's difficulties in life and their subsequent murder.
A true crime show needs more facts and less hear say. Details such as GSR testing results, time of death for each, the photo showing two black lines on thumb etc etc
