HOUSE OF THE DRAGON 1x2 REACTION - THE ROGUE PRINCE - GAME OF THRONES PREQUEL SERIES 

Honestly, that would make so much sense because it feels like all Daemon's ever really wanted was the recognition from his brother, but that might be a misinterpretation on my end! Hopefully they actually find a way to come together to find a more common enemy rather than just each other, but we shall see!

Daemon's main want was attention, it is clear that Daemon has no intention of hurting his family or forcibly taking anything, but this is him being a diva... Taking Dragonstone, taking the egg; reconciliation is part of it but the reality is that it was him looking for attention Because then we would have to get into what would "reconciliation" look like? Daemon doing all of this is, once again, insulting his brother, so Daemon would have to take it down a notch and apologize to Viserys, and Rhaenyra, and set things straight... But after all of that, we have to look at it from Viserys POV; what would satisfy Daemon? Nothing short of being named Hand of the King and even that wouldn't probably be enough if Rhaenyra remains named heir or he produces a male hair in the future; short term would probably be offering Daemon to marry Rhaenyra and I'm quite sure that is something Viserys would absolutely HATE... And for all of the faults that Otto has and his own desires to alienate Daemon, and all of the personal benefits that each person in the counsel have for themselves, they are right in saying that Daemon is too violent and volatile to have such a position of power in the realm.

I can definitely see your point. He is volatile, but from what we are seeing King Viserys is being stagnant is also not a solution long term. Like we said I feel like we need a little bit of Both. The firecracker in Daemon and the Wisdom from Viserys and Rhaenyra. I hope that we can see a little bit more of Daemon’s true colors in the next episode. @@Alewaxon Daemon is much like Jaime Lannister; Hated early on in GOT but adored by the end of the show. But I'm willing to bet money you will be team Daemon by the end of this show. Here is from Martin himself. “Over the centuries, House Targaryen has produced both great men and monsters. Prince Daemon was both. In his day there was not a man so admired, so beloved, and so reviled in all Westeros. He was made of light and darkness in equal parts. To some he was a hero, to others the blackest of villains.” Daemon loves his family and would never harm them. He just wants the attention and his brother to be protected from the leech council who preys on his brother’s weakness. Daemon is the one doing the "darkness" or dirty work for Viserys if you want to look at it that way. On the other hand, Otto recommended Rhaenyra to be heir to the iron throne in episode 1 because he knows that Rhaenyra, a woman, will be easier to overthrow and lookover than Daemon. All Alicent now has to do is have a male heir(s) and there will be the main plot of the show (civil war). He also didn't want Viserys to go to dragonstone because he didn't want the brothers to rekindle over a conversations (because daemon and viserys do love each other) and to provoke a war between the two brothers.

@@ryanbvisuals My comment wasn't meant to be against the character as a whole, just to point out the flaws or shortcomings of it... I am team Daemon and I've read the books, I know what happens... And I do agree with what you said, that still doesn't counter my point... I never said Daemon wanted to hurt his family, in fact I said the contrary, I never said Visery's doesn't love him back or respects him and vice versa... My point still stands, he is doing this, all of his shenanigans, FOR ATTENTION, which is quite a petty reason when you take into consideration all of the people he is putting in danger by doing so... Look at the reaction and the conversation with his consort in this very episode; with his games about the marriage and the pregnancy he put her life in danger, and so are the gold cloaks that followed him and the people that reside in Dragonstone... All of those lives in risk JUST FOR THE SAKE OF GETTING ATTENTION. I agree that he considers Viserys as a person who isn't strong enough to make the though decisions so he tries to be hardcore enough, brutal enough, feared enough so that people don't mess with him, the king or the family... But that still means that he, in his core, is a violent and aggressive person... They are not wrong about it... Take this issue of the Stepstones; there are real concerns, proper things to consider when it comes to deciding whether or not to intervene there, like Viserys mentions, going there could end up starting a war between 2 continents basically (7 Kingdoms vs Free cities)... Do you think that if Daemon was Visery's hand, he would've thought twice about going there, fucking shit up and probably starting a war? Or thought about the repercussions before suggesting it to his brother and making it happen?... That is the part where the "skimming bastards" in the counsel are actually right: Daemon isn't fit to have that kind of authority over the lives of all of the people in the realm because he is too impulsive, too easily seduced for a fight or to cause chaos in order to prove a point or cement the authority of House Targaryen

Yeah! The family bond is pretty strong. It’s heartbreaking to watch so many people try to ruin it for their own benefit. I’m crossing my fingers they will figure this out sooner rather than later.

Her acting was PHENOMENAL!! So subtle, vulnerable, heartfelt and strong all at the same time, it's truly a marvel to witness someone so young to show such a level of talent! Chills!

Oh for sure! We love that Rhaenyra did what she believed was right, instead of waiting on the sidelines for others to take care of these issues. And yes, 100% agreed, Daemon definitely respected her for standing up to him and everyone else that told her to sit this one out. Who knows, Daemon may have met his match in Rhaenyra!

bro the dragons werent there for "my dragon will fight your dragon" it was to make sure nobody tried something and if they did the other sides dragon would burn them all. like if Daemon tried something funny Syrax would burn Daemon and his men. If Otto tried something Caraxes would burn Otto and all his men.

@@OfficialMediaKnights yes.. those are the eggs that Dany gets. I really hope they will show Dreamfyre in HOTD. Especially because they already talked about her in this episode. Also her egg getting stolen by Daemon like her eggs were stolen many years back. If they design her structurally similar to Daenerys' dragons in GOT, it will be a confirmation from George R R Martin that Dreamfyre is the biological mother of Dany's dragons.

The Sealord of Braavos never returned the stolen eggs to the Targaryens. The eggs were extremely valuable so how did Illyrio purchase them? He could have bought them of course though I think it has something to do with the pact signed by Oberyn and Willem Darry and the House with the Red Door. The pact was witnessed by the Sealord of Braavos. The House in which Viserys and Daenerys lived was supposed to be in Braavos but it could have been in Lys. Perhaps the eggs were the gifts for the young prineclings but the kids were too small to know about it. After Ser Darry died, they were robbed of everything and kicked out of the House. If the House with the Red Door was in Lys, it could have been a pleasure house, perhaps the same in which Serra used to work. If Darry got eggs then Serra stole them and gave them to Illyrio. She also gave him the son that resembled young Aegon so much that he could usurp his name and his claim to the Iron Throne. That’s why Illyrio told Tyrion that Serra was worth everything to him. Then, yes, I suppose these are the same eggs. Wich means Seasmoke is the sibling of Dany's dragons.

Thank you so much for the comment, dude, this is so interesting and informative!! First of all I love the Trojan horse/CCTV reference to Alicent, as that is exactly what Otto sent her to do! To entice Viserys, be there for him at his most susceptible and vulnerable. Otto is smart, he knows to keep a close eye on Viserys, especially considering that this will be the best time and his best chance for a claim to the throne. My guess is that the changes in age are implemented as it is easier to direct older actors, especially for some of the darker and controversial scenes we frequently get. So that likely plays a part in it. There could be multiple layers to Viserys being hesitant of taking Laena as his wife - he may be reluctant due to her age but that is more a product of our current time rather than how things were in those days and the books. It could be that he a grieving husband and is simply not ready. Perhaps he started to develop some kind of affection towards Alicent, I did get that vibe a little during their scenes. Regardless. We are in for a ride!!! The plot thickens consistently and all we can do is strap in and enjoy the ride!

Funny thing is Viserys himself married his cousin Aemma Arryn when she was 11 and he was 16, and got her pregnant when she was 14-15. I don't think it's about Laena's age. Viserys is just scared of Corlys' growing power and think he is overreaching himself an idea Otto placed on his head.

That is very possible! Corlys is definitely finding himself cornered as he's being attacked on all fronts and feels he needs to do something/anything. That kind of desperation will make anyone reach out to those they wouldn't under normal circumstances. As you said, in those times age was not really a factor so you may be right - it may be the fact that being with Laena would take longer to produce an heir as she's at least 3 years or so away so, that may be part of the reason.

If you read the books you know how it ends. But yes it is good..I prefer the dialogue instead of the fancy dragons. I do want to see vhagar but that is later I'm probably Otto's biggest fan!!!

Yeah we definitely love to see the return of the savvy and intellectual dialogue, which was one of the things that made GOT so special! Can't wait to see how this all pans out and also to find out how Otto's character develops from here on out! It's tough to anticipate which makes watching this all the more fun!

Loll nah they both did for sure! Both are awful scenarios - Otto's case is terrible because he clearly has a much stronger rapport with Viserys, bordering on friendship even so the betrayal stings. Yet Corlys' actions are abhorrant, his daughter was 12 for crying out loud! I'm sure you can see it in our faces 😂😂😂 uff, just.. so much happening on this show!

Otto's girl isn't much older so the whole thing is terrible. Idk if Otto wants his daughter to be queen but he def doesn't want Corlys having more power.

The more I have time to think about it the more I realize it was kind of a stupid decision. It’s definitely gonna come back to bite him in the a$$ unfortunately😓

It's true that Laena Velaryon is only 3 years younger than Alicent Hightower. But the physical and emotional difference between the two girls and their relationships with Viserys is huge. Viserys is already grief-stricken and terribly lonely for the loss of Queen Aemma. In his heart, Aemma is his wife, his beloved. But he has something of a relationship with Alicent Hightower; he's seen her grow up from a child who (in the book at least) comforted and cared for his grandfather King Jaehaerys when the old king was bedridden to a pretty young girl who became his daughter's friend and then came in to befriend and talk to him during his loneliness. Alicent has, both out of intelligence and modesty and her own inclination, not made any sexual moves on Viserys; just tried to offer him honest comfort (since she does know what it's like to lose a beloved family member) and friendship. Viserys has had enough private meetings with Alicent to know that he gets along with her and perhaps he feels he could find her physically desirable enough to consummate marital relations with her; since, although Alicent is 15 or 16, she at least looks physically/sexually mature. On the other hand, it's obvious that Viserys doesn't know Laena Velaryon very well and hasn't had any heart-to-heart talks about grief or Valyrian history, which is understandable because Laena is a 12-year-old who is small for her age (compared to Alicent) and perky and is the beloved daughter of the richest parents in Westeros and so far unacquainted with grief. On their one 'date', it's very obvious that Viserys wants to run away from little Laena; he tries to smile so as not be mean to the child (who is his kin) but he is horrified at the thought of marrying so young a girl. It's a shame; because Laena's delightful; she's smart, she's cute, she's definitely interested in dragons; but she looks like a little doll and it's just too much for the bereaved Viserys to handle, especially when Laena gives her little speech (that her father had her memorize) about wanting to join their houses and the blood of Old Valyria and how she'll be proud to give him sons (man, I love Corlys Velaryon, but I really wanted to smack him upside the head in this scene) and then follows it up, when Viserys asks, with the more practical assurance from Rhaenys Targaryen that Laena wouldn't have to "bed" Viserys until she turned 14. Which might have made Viserys want to throw up (it made me want to throw up - Rhaenys herself didn't marry until she was 16), at least he looked sick. By the way, the two actors absolutely nailed that scene, which could have been absolutely horrible and overdone; kudos to the writers and the actors. A solution would have been for Viserys to marry little Laena, but for her to stay either in Driftmark or in a separate part of the Red Keep until she was 15, so he didn't see much of her, so there would be some a bit of mystery and he wouldn't feel like she was a little sister or a daughter, and then have her come back into his life at 15 to consummate the marriage and begin it in earnest; and, in the meantime, have a good marriage made ASAP for Alicent, such as Harwin Strong or a Lannister...

He does feel a little too idealistic, borderline naive to be precise. And in this world we already know that that can get you killed!

After the show we will most likely give it a read. I think we are both really digging the lore in this one. The politics and characters are just fascinating. I’m sure it’s an amazing read 😄

I don’t think Viserys is weak minded I just think he got caught being very vulnerable at the time and Otto took advantage of that. Alicent became close to him in his darkest times and now he rather be with her than anybody else. I get that it was a political mistake but it was the right thing to do in his eyes also yuck he didn’t wanna marry an 8 year old 😂

We love Rhys Ifans! And his performance in this is amazing. An actor that we admire so much made us hate him immediately, now that’s good acting! Haha and yeah he clearly dislikes Lord Corlys 😂

They compare him to little finger but little finger was master of coin he had no real power...and the actor was good but Otto is on a different level

Little Finger's power always rested in his knowledge in those surrounding him, knowing their secrets, their weaknesses and he was a master at exploiting those. We'll see where Otto's strength lies, but Rhys Ifans is an incredible actor and we love his presence in this thus far!

It's possible he's not the classic mustache-twirling Little Finger style villain, we'll have to wait and see how it all pans out!

No Daemon is a threat to his plans to get his blood on the throne

Yes, we definitely commented on that, but to be fair, in difficult times like these, to make real change these volatile and aggressive choices are necessary to jumpstart said change. But to make it last, you need the reasonable minds to prevail, like Viserys or Rhaenyra. It's the combination of both that is needed really, but that's just our opinion!

@@OfficialMediaKnights I see your point. However, you can be aggressive without being volatile. You can't temper a volatile person. Paraphrasing what Viserys said in episode 1, "taming a dragon is just an illusion... You can't." Mixing Daemon with Viserys or Rhaenyra or anyone for that matter just doesn't work. Daemon and most of the Targaryens are like nuclear bombs. When a nuclear bomb explodes, it takes down everyone and its effects trickle down to many generations. Otto Hightower knows this and he's 100% correct in removing Daemon as far away from politics. In the end, this is just an opinion of a Cersei Lannister and Varys loving fan. Great video guys!
