I went to this contest with a bunch a friends, I scanned a bunch of the crowd scenes to see if I could see us. No luck. We we're little fucking grommets then for sure. This was the first time I went to the Houston skate park, but it wasn't the last. Used to love that place. This was the first time I saw serious vert skating in person, instead of a video. That big ramp used to bust my hump. I could barely drop in on it. I remember the mini ramps and the smaller half pipes. So bad ass. Summer after summer spent skating at the park, ez7, tradewinds and whole host of other ramps seeded around the city. Taking buses to go downtown, catching bands at the Axiom and Fitzgeralds. Good times.
Zorlac in the house! My first board was a Zorlac Double Cut model. I still have a few Zorlac "Shut Up and Skate" decals in the desk drawer... I watched Phillips beat out Hawk and Hosoi earlier today in Anaheim (I think) watching old vert vids. He is hot shit here, too, as you can see. Don't mess with fucking Texas.
houston skate park.. great place. remember trying to drop into the 10footer for the first time as a kid trying not to show fear...then going for it.. then body slamming on the METAL ramp..OUCH!!
