Hey there, folks! In this video, I'm sharing my thoughts on the Apollo City Pro electric scooter after putting a solid 1000 kilometers (about 650 miles) on it. Curious about what I've come to love, what could be better, and whether I'd make any changes? Stick around as I dive into all the details!
🛴 Here are my key takeaways:
Dual Motors for Hills: Being a larger rider, I appreciate the twin 500 watt Motors that effortlessly handle hilly terrains and keep me cruising around town with ease.
Smooth Braking: The regenerative braking system is my go-to for smooth stops, making the drum brakes a rarity in my experience.
Personalized Settings: The app lets me fine-tune acceleration, aggression off the line, and top speed, tailoring the scooter to my preferences.
Versatile Rider Fit: With a weight limit of 265 pounds, both heavier and lighter riders can enjoy the ride. As a six-footer, I find the handlebar height perfect.
Self-healing tubeless tire: The 10-inch self-healing tires are a game-changer - no flat tires so far! They've handled my urban journeys like a champ.
Comfortable Suspension: The suspension system has been an absolute delight, ensuring a comfy ride throughout.
Rain-Ready: With an IP66 rating, I don't worry about getting caught in the rain. This scooter handles wet conditions like a pro.
Effortless Folding: The folding mechanism is a breeze to use. It's compact and feels incredibly sturdy when locked in.
Sleek Design: I'm a fan of the minimalist design and the integrated Bell - they've kept things simple yet functional.
Overall Love: After my 1000-km journey (150 trips), I'm convinced of this scooter's reliability for my daily 5 to 10-km rides. No range anxiety here!
Who's this scooter for? Well, practically everyone! It caters to various rider sizes and heights. Unless you're seeking wild off-road speed adventures, the Apollo City Pro has you covered for smooth city cruising.
As for changes, not much needs altering. Apollo has plans for minor updates in the next version, but honestly, this current version rocks!
If you're on the hunt for a stress-free city ride that's dependable, smooth, and accommodating, the Apollo City Pro is my top recommendation. Share your thoughts in the comments after you've subscribed - let's chat scooters! 🛴🚀

Great video Tim. I got the Apollo City 2023 dual motor on your recommendation and I absolutely love it! I've had it for about a month and have already logged over 700k. Used my car 3 times since I bought it! It's super smooth on the roads, goes up steep hills no problems at all. I take it on trails too, mostly gravel and it's awesome. The regen brake is fantastic, it's super smooth and like you I use that 99% of the time. 2 things that aren't so great. The app for me is really unstable, keeps crashing and the kickstand is terrible. Mine broke within 3 days! But the actual scooter is awesome. Thanks for recommending it. Cheers, Andy

@@TimsElectric yeah mine hasn't broken and it's still functional. The type of plastic that's being used though feels like it's under strain when in use, holding up the weight of such a heavy and well built scooter. It's more a mismatch of building material choices.

Did much research, this video was super helpful. Got my 2023 City Pro 2 months ago, just hit 500 miles. Perfect for me. Being able to pick it up at Best Buy made the deal for me. I'm 80 and being able to get around the city without buying gas, the new mobility is a life changer. I wear full safety gear, old guys can't be too careful. Most comfortable 20 to 25, but have to run at 30+ a lot on city streets with traffic and no sidewalks. Went 25 miles once, app said I had 2 miles left, with a lot of 25-30 mph riding.

I bought a City Pro 2023 in June, put 300 miles on it, and in July I fell and broke my knee. It's been a slow recovery period, but today, for the first time since July, I stepped onto the scooter and rode around my city block. Such a great product, but I'd personally recommend knee pads if you'd prefer to avoid a transverse closed fracture of the patella.

Like many I pulled the trigger on a 2023 version of the same scooter after watching your reviews and hearing your "Big Guy Approval". I'm not quite as big as you but I'm not light and I also commute with a pretty heavy backpack so I'm not far off the 265lb limit that many of these scooters have. Watching it pull of the hill of death sold me. I originally bought a Segway Max G2 and it's great but there are two particular hills on my commute where it falls on its face. I got my City Pro Dual 2023 today and took it out for a 11mi rip and man it's a nice piece of hardware. Thanks much for your reviews and honesty on topics like weight and issues. You 100% got a sub from me!

Hey @@TimsElectric hopefully you see this. Does your City Pro have any indexing on center steering? Like, does it feel like it has a little "notch" in the center of the steering you need to overcome to turn? Mine does and I'm not sure if it's a design or if it's a defect. I've only ridden like 45mi on it. Thanks!

@@TimsElectric sadly yes. I have accidentally hit exactly two potholes and had one hop off a small curb (around 5") and it's making the effect worse sadly. I'm in touch with Apollo about it. The concern is that it's imprinting the bearings into the race in the stem. I can't imagine how that could happen when I didn't even pop a tire. Either way, it's up in the air for the moment. @@TimsElectric will do! well currently with the handlebar upgrade i would say best parts are the throttles, grips and the closed hook latch. doesn't hit the head of the handlebar any more and is secure enough to even hang groceries on it. the throttles are soo smooth and the buttons are soft to the touch easy to click. grips are more comfy than the last stock ones for sure. the new light is meh litttle stronger but youll still need a head light at night if you wanna be safe. the turn signals are a really good addition if you use it youre way more visible. the stand i didnt change coz i already modded mine to be more solid. i ordered the stem upgrade that will fix the constant tightening issues for the folding mech itll eliminate it and will be stronger as per what ive seen think its the same as the apollo pro ones folding mech. good upgrade imo not a necessity but if you have the free cash to spend why not. :)

Hey, I subbed!... Last year. Mine has been fine but I have different throttles to what yours came with. Even though Apollo claims that the ones I have aren't suppose to stick, they stick. The throttles you have appear to be the ones on the 2023 handlebar upgrade (I guess they switch it again right before you got yours. I think I even commented about it on your review back then). Even though I don't really like idea of spending more money on something that should've been there at the start, I do ride the scooter enough that the money will be well spent.

Looks like a great scooter. My wife and I both have Apollo Ghosts and absolutely love them, but she's less of a thrill seeker than I am so she's strongly considering the Apollo City Pro for her next scooter since she wants the regen brake without spending the extra money to get the Apollo Phantom. Myself, I've got a Phantom on order. I use my scooters as a replacement for a second car. It's been a great way to save thousands of dollars a year in gas, car payments, insurance when all we were really looking to do originally was save a few bucks on gas. The scooters have more than paid for themselves within a single year.

@@TimsElectricYeah Apollo is great. I know that a lot of people are upset with their customer service, but I think that's because they try to call rather than chat. Apollo has had a huge demand increase last year, and they haven't been able to scale up to meet that demand yet, so they are swamped, and the scooters are backlogged a month or more. Totally worth the wait though in my opinion. I was happy to give you the credit. Hey Tim ,just Subbed! Great video's buddy! I'm looking for a scooter that absorbs bumps very well ,would you say this is one of the better scooters for that? my commute is city/payment but our roads suck for smoothness! Already tried 2 scooters ,but with solid tires & found them way to ruff on the joints. Thanks for your help!
@TimsElectric
@TimsElectric Год назад
Awesome to hear from you @jakeanddar, it has good shocks...on particularly rough roads then I'd look at the Phantom, but if you can avoid the potholes and slow for the bigger cracks then the rest of the ride should be really smooth. Also it depends on the speed you're going typically. I ride at 20mph/32kph and I'm happy but if you're thinking of going much faster then I'd look at the big brother (Phantom). I truly love the City Pro for my style of riding and reach for it for most of my trips around the city :) One thing I don't like (but I found a solution, actually the solution was sent to me by a viewer) is the mud guard doesn't protect the suspension (I'll make a short on the solution very soon as it's in my Amazon shopping cart) :) Hope this helps :) Cheers Tim

The only significant upgrades i can think of: -Upgrade the back motor to 1000w (for a total of 1500w constant power) -slightly longer base and a bigger battery to keep or improve the range -different springs for different weight classes, color coded, red for 150kg~170kg, orange for 100-120kg, green for 50-70kg, to offer better plush suspension for different people. And included with this update, a better ride height and more suspension travel. -And finally, some off-road settings and hardware options for people who need it, here in Europe is a must.

Thanks for making all these videos on the pro over the time you have had it. Great to have a longer term perspective. I am debating between the city (as it has not been rebranded) and the phantom. My main concern is power of the city on hills, which seemed to be sufficient given your reviews, but wanted to doublecheck with you in terms of did it feel it makes it confidentally up hills (I am about 250). Also, have you ever taken the city pro on dirt trails/light off-roading? Wondering how is the power, comfort and handling. Just trying to determine if the extra spend on the Phantom justifies the price for a first time scooter owner. Keep up the great reviews!!
@TimsElectric

Awesome @DmollyTO, I've had both....they're both amazing....and at lighter than me I think you'll find the power on the City acceptable . It depends on your riding style too.....for me the City is perfect....both have regen braking...which is a must for me now...if you're predominantly on roads....decent roads....and not on trails a lot...then the City...if you want more power ...range and comfort on rough roads and or trails then the Phantom...also it was easier to carry up and down stairs over the Phantom....love love love it :) Cheers...might have a small discount below the video in case that's of help...either way say hello if you buy one and send me a photos of you on it...would love to post it and share the fun of either of these scooters...they're amazing ...so smooooooth :)

Awesome @sushantpatil2975, I'd look at the INmotion S1 for bigger guys riding without hills ...it's an awesome machine :)

Of course you're gonna speak highly of it and recommend it. You got it for FREE! 🙄they're basically paying you to promote them products.

Awesome point @joeburr7537,a tiny bit cynical but you raise a good point...I also have lots of scooters I could ride today....but I'll be riding this one. I know my answer may seem flippant but just because a reviewer gets an item for free does not mean they only say good things...just FYI. If I don't like something on a scooter I say it...I never share my videos with companies ahead of time and never allow them to dictate what I say or don't say....some reviewers do but I'm a straight shooter. To that end, Apollo had no idea that I would make this video....I do love the scooter and recommend it highly to friends, family and of course here on RU-vid.

I'm sure that's not the first scooter they gave you. Their new version has many improvements that should have been there in the last version but you either didn't bother mentioning those shortfalls or it wasn't a big deal to you. If you paid full price like the rest of us I'm sure you'd feel differently. Not to mention trying to get support from them nowadays. They are too busy spending their time and efforts on developing new models and marketing. Their after sales support has gone downhill. Why do you think they changed their warranty from 2 years to 1? 🤔

@@joeburr7537 interesting, you don't sound happy ...but you did mention shortfalls with the scooter...what shortfalls? what did I miss? I genuinely love this scooter...and have had zero issues. I have heard some don't like the kickstand but I've had no issues with it...but other than that...maybe the headlight could be stronger but otherwise...let me know...also I wouldn't know about the customer support as I haven't needed to reach out. Interesting tht the warranty changed...also interesting that another viewer mentioned that the customer service had improved as of late...anyway....do let me know :) always love to hear both sides :)

Definitely. I feel exactly the same. It's the perfect scooter for me. Smooth, comfortable and safe plus more power than I'll ever need. My top speed in sport mode is 40k, but generally I'm between 20 and 30 and ride 99% of the time in comfort mode. I only switch to sport mode to get up the bigger hills.

that's how I ride it too :) hardly ever use Sport mode ...I just don't need it on a typical ride :)

Thank you Tim for your great videos. At first, I was not sure if I wanted to buy an ebike or an escooter. It was either an Aventon or Apollo. Each had it's pros and cons. But after having talked to a bus driver, I realized two things...ebikes will NOT fit on those bus racks and second, they aren't allowed even if they could fit. I guess the decisions been made for me that, Apollo scooter it is. But there are like 5 to choose from. I'm going with the Apollo City because of your positive reviews. The problem, hopefully it's not, is that I'm 280 pounds in my birthday suit. LOL. Will this be a problem on this scooter? Thanks for entertaining and educating us.

Awesome @velmano9191, we're super close in weight and I've had no issues with my City...just make sure you get the dual motor version :) and I think I have a discount code which helps them know that my positive review was noticed...maybe they'll send me a model to review :)
