How 35” BFG KO2s (295/65/R20) fit on my RAM 2500 *Not lifted*

I'll show you where the tires rub, and talk about the main issue you'll have with choosing a tire to fit on your stock rims.
This was my first upgrade to the truck. I wanted better quality rubber and a more proper size tire for how big the truck is - but I didn't want to lift it or change out the wheels quite yet.

Good review. I’ve had the Toyo AT3’s in 295/65/20 on my 2020 Ram 3500 SRW. They do rub on the sway bar at a full hard lock. You can definitely feel when it happens, not very often, so you can back off to just a full lock and no rub but still a negative. The positive that I think some people miss is that for the Ram truck, upgrading to 295/65/20 you also can run the rear tires at a lower 65 PSI and still get damn near the same weight rating as the stock tires at 80PSI.
@gavinwalker5686
@gavinwalker5686 Год назад
@Pete Lara thanks for the comment. I’m with you, I think it’s worth the bigger size. I’d rather have to back off my hard turn a little every once in a while in exchange for the bigger tire and extra sidewall. As it is I wish I had more so I could air down more when off roading, but even at the usual 65 PSI I’ve got good grip and haven’t really needed to air down. I can’t imagine going off road on those stock tires with 80 PSI, those would pop so fast on these sharp rocks near my house.

Thanks for the video. I just got a 2020 2500 Cummins and I’m looking at upgrading the rims and or tires. I like the KO2s they are nice. I’ve had some Michelin AT2 LT tires that drove better though they just didn’t look as aggressive

Thanks for the update. I like to keep my 2022 2500 RAM truck stock as much as possible. I went with the Faulken wildpeak 285/65/20 and zero rub. That slight rub you have will irritated me..lol.

Very nice how yours don’t rub at all!! It definitely bugs me when I happens, so I try to not let it happen haha but you can see by the worn spot it does happen. Had the Falkens been available I probably would have gone with those too simply because I was shooting for those, but I really can’t complain too much about these KO2s.

I have the stock rims on my limited 3500 that are 285/60/20. I wanted to go with the 295/65/20 but I’m definitely concerned of the rub. I’m told if you level the truck then you won’t have that issue but I have the factory air suspension and I like the 1 inch rake the truck sits with. I have a travel trailer toy hauler and the factory air auto level system is nice but it causing issues when trying to level or put a lift on the truck. I would have to go with the Cali 3.25 Pintop lift and 37’s if I want it done right. Lifts like that are not cheap and I do like my truck close to stock since it’s just my haul vehicle. I’m going to be looking at the Toyo AT3 when I upgrade tires late this fall. Thanks for the video on the rig.

What’s up Gavin nice rig man. Looks man. Hey can you tell me what gear ratio your truck has and what are your mpg with the 35” tires now. The reason I’m asking is because I also have a 18 Ram Cummins and just slapped on some 35” tires. My truck has 4.10 gears and my mpg are currently at 12. So I was thinking of going back to the stock 3.42 gears so I can get back my mpg since I’m gonna use the truck for commuting. Would like to get your feedback to help me decide. Cool man . Cummins power baby
@gavinwalker5686
@gavinwalker5686 Год назад
@Sergio Amescua thank you brother 💪 sorry to hear your mpg dropped so far, 12 is pretty low! I have a 3.73 axle ratio and my tank average is typically between 15-16 with mostly city driving. Highway I’ll get in the 17-18 mpg range if I keep it at 75 or below. I’m sure with the 4.10s it’s quite a bit quicker on the acceleration, which is nice, but, it’s not slow with the 3.73 and you still feel that power.

I just got 295 65 20 and they rub on my plow mount ant the frame… adding 2.5 level and 2” spacers… will I have to trim anything? Front bumper? Fender? Nitto ridge grappler
@gavinwalker5686
@gavinwalker5686 7 месяцев назад
That’s a great question. I don’t know enough about the plow mount frames to have any suggestions. I’d only rub at full lockout, and only on the right away bar. With the 2” spacers you might be closer to the front bumper when turning, so maybe that would rub. I’d suspect with the 2.5” level, you won’t have an issue clearing the bumper, but maybe you’ll have to trim the chin skirt a little. 🤷‍♂️

Did your wheel come stock with those black lugs ? Or did you purchase? Part #
@gavinwalker5686
@gavinwalker5686 Год назад
@Enrique Aguirre My truck came with polished aluminum 20s, and my father in law happened to purchase these black 20s with stock tires for super cheap on Facebook marketplace right as I was about to upgrade my rubber. He didn’t care if the wheels were black or not, so we traded rims as I got these KO2s, and these black lugs are just whatever ones Discount Tire had. But I do think that when these trucks have that package that blacks out the wheels, they come with black lugs so I’m sure there’s an option to purchase.

Hi! Do you think Rubbing is because is NOT Off Road Package?
@gavinwalker5686
@gavinwalker5686 Год назад
@Mine Ortiz hard to say. The off road package doesn’t lift it, so unless the off road package has a different sway bar, I’d say it would still rub. But, since the rubbing is only at a full left turn, it really doesn’t get in the way very much.

I didn’t have the stock wheels on long enough to know, I switched them out with just 500 miles on the truck, and at first the mileage is lower anyways when the motors getting broken in, but with these on I’m usually around 15th tank average, I’ll get up in the 17s on a road trip and was 11.5 towing a loaded up boat a few weeks ago, so if that helps at all for reference.

@gavinwalker5686
@gavinwalker5686 26 дней назад
Not sure if you were asking me or the guy who commented about the ridge grappler 35x11.5, but, yes I think once leveled the 35s wouldn’t rub at all. They barely contact the sway bar at full lock and it wouldn’t take much to not have it contact at all. I only have that little bit of rub without being leveled or lifted, and on the stock 20s.

@mendiesel7932
@mendiesel7932 Год назад
@@gavinwalker5686 I actually wanted a minimal lift up front and Thurren was the only one that did a 1” front lift. The 2500 rake is very pronounced and I didn’t care for it. The 1” front end seemed right up my alley since I tow a 10k camper and didn’t want it to squat too much. Good reviews online and decent pricing made me buy it, and I’m very happy with it. I got it with the upgraded track bar too. The minor lift up front, and the full set of fox shocks work awesome. That with 35x11.5s makes my truck ride better than ever and still tows with confidence. Also got rid of the excessive rake. Plus I will say, it’s hard to believe that Carli has “better quality” than Thurren. The parts I received are top notch quality. Plus Thurren has awesome CS. I personally didn’t see merit in being cheap with a puck level kit since they stress the front end on a truck that costs over 60k. So if you can afford it, Carli or Thurren are the only way to go for the Rams. IMO Sorry for rambling. 🤪

@gavinwalker5686
@gavinwalker5686 2 месяца назад
My metric size is technically a 35.1” height, and I know that some 35s are actually more like 34.5” true size. I know that’s how the KO2s are. I am in the market for new tires in the next 4-5k miles, asking discount tire which brands make a 12.5 wide that can fit on my rim and they say none of them do. The rim is a little too narrow, so I’m not sure why other tire shops are throwing 35x12.5s on there 🤷‍♂️ but no one has seem to have had issues.
