This is the story of my BECOMEAYOGI 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) Journey, hosted by @KestYoga @JonahKest in Costa Rica - 2023
After one of the most difficult years of my life, I knew that I desperately needed a change.
Between Loneliness, Burnout, Heartbreak, and Negative Self-Talk - it was obvious that if I didn't take a chance on a new approach to my daily life, things wouldn't end well.
After a phone call with my dear friend Jonah Kest, it was clear that I had nothing to lose by flying to Costa Rica to take his Yoga Teacher Training. I have always loved the practice of Yoga and Meditation - both have brought SO MUCH value, peace, and well-being to my life, and it was finally time for me to Dive into Yoga more deeply.
After 19 Days of Become a Yogi YTT, I felt like a new person.
Even through some incredibly volatile turbulence going on back home, while I was in Costa Rica,
I had confidence again, I felt empowered, supported, and uplifted.
Despite finally being professionally diagnosed with Severe Depression and Extreme Anxiety, I started to feel hope for the first time in a long time.
There are no words that can describe the exact feeling of Community, and Family, but it was something that I have been longing for and something that I will no longer take for granted.
My future endeavors and pursuits will revolve around building the Community that I wish I had, because even as a strong and fiercely independent grown man - I need people, I need love.
Become a Yogi helped me find strength from within myself, I feel grounded and ready to stand on my own two feet again - thanks to the love and support of everyone around me in this training.
To anyone who is still reading this, you are LOVED
It is okay to lean on people sometimes, but we need to find it within ourselves to love and trust ourselves - even if it is just bit by bit each day.
Self-Love is a LONG, exhausting Journey, but it is necessary.
Please do not suffer in silence, always know that you have a friend in me.
