So heartbreaking. Alzheimer's certainly does impact the entire family, and it's so important for family members to seek out support and resources. Some helpful articles related to Alzheimer's can be found here: www.jfscare.org/category/alzheimers-dementia-care-burbank-ca/

The burden always falls on the woman whether she’s a daughter, daughter in law or sister in law, aunt. It never fails. This is another reason need time off in the work force. Having children, or taking care of love ones. It’s always our life.

This isn't about feminism it's about a loving family caring for their grandfather and father, also the granddaughter said she loved him

@@princeofjudaeayes burden... burden- a load, typically a heavy one. Caring for a loved one with alzheimer's is a huge burden and takes a big toll on the caregivers. But you push through because you love them.

If its hard for you to support your parents in their dotage as they did for you for 18 years, you're kind of evil. That's an EXTREME lack of empathy.

An unwillingness to help perhaps but it's totally normal to find it hard. I would do anything for my parents including give up my current city life & career to move back home to take care of them, however to say I wouldn't find that hard is silly - it would be incredibly hard as I'd be giving up everything I've been working hard to build up, leave behind all my friends (and have no support network of my own where my parents are living) and would likely struggle financially due to being unable to work so just having a small carers allowance which is less than minimum wage - but more importantly Alzheimers is a cruel, sad and unpredictable disease where your loved ones can even get violent with you (no fault of their own) and heart wrenching to watch your parents suffer like that and slowly lose all memory of you. No matter how hard it would be nothing would stop me. If you can't see how hard and taxing it is for family members then I think YOU have an EXTREME lack of empathy.

The difference is parents CHOSE to bring you into the world. They CHOSE to take on the task of raising you for 18 years minimum. NO ONE CHOOSES to have a parent with Alzheimer's...
