The aircraft braking system is made up of three main components: the hydraulic system, the airbrakes and the thrust reversers. These systems work together to slow the aircraft after landing. Pilots can manually or automatically activate the hydraulic braking system, while the airbrakes automatically lift when the aircraft touches the ground. Thrust reversers deflect the engines' airflow forward to help slow down.
The brakes are activated by pilots via independent pedals, allowing them to control speed during ground maneuvers, such as sharp turns.
