Congratulations on matching, Rajshree Didi! One correction though, the stats that you give at 2:30 is not accurate (for future applicants watching this video). There were actually 1657 DR applicants for 986 DR spots. 670 were US MD matches, 143 were US DO matches and 84 (not 8) were Non-US IMG matches ;) Good luck with the training and make us all proud!
Hi there Radiology Aspirant. However, I believe Dr. Rajshree is talking about the 8 Non-US-IMGs who matched into *_Categorical PGY-1_* positions for Diagnostic Radiology. The stats you are mentioning includes all applicants that matched into all existing Radiology programs that offer advanced positions too (PGY2). Hope this clears out everything. We really appreciate you taking the time to review the match statistics.
@@thelifedoc909 Thank you for the reply, The Life Doc. Its like saying that one matched at a particular XXX program and was the only IMG among 900 applicants to match in that program (which may be true), but the other truth is, there were 150 other programs as well which matched almost 90 other IMGs. So, I still believe the stats are misleading here. For applicants, categorical or advanced program does not matter at all, just a personal preference for people if they want to move or not between the PGY1 and PGY2 years. Nothing personal here, but i just think an interview targeted towards a big audience should portray an accurate picture in regards to application cycle :)
@@radiologyaspirant7427 Exactly, DR is not that competitive for IMGs. Ortho, neurosurgery, plastics, cardiothoracic, dermat are the most competitive specialties to match into as IMG, if anyone is wondering. NOT radiology, especially diagnostic radiology. Every year, 80-90 applicants match DR who are IMGs. And yes NON-US IMG!
I mean, so, I mean, you know I mean. The interviewer should practice how to talk with people but she is a smart young doctor. Many many congrats to her, she deserve it.
Steps for the ECFMG VERIFICATION needs to explained step by step that's the most hassle part not the exam. Exact steps of how to go about doing the dam ECFMG verification crap for IMG needs to be explained which will be very useful and helpful and is sadly missing in the video which should have been included since the candidate is an IMG. So a bit of suggestion for the uploader would be to keep this in mind next time should he decide to upload next content. And no offense whatsoever but u did a piss poor job in this video.
