Today we are going to discuss how architecture influences behavior? Our environment impacts us, way more than we give it credit for. It is nothing but an extension of our nervous system.
Collin Ellard, a researcher in the University of Waterloo, Canada studies the psychological impact of the city design. One of Ellard’s most consistent findings is that people are strongly affected by building façades.
Sociologist William Whyte, once advised urban planners to arrange objects and artifacts in public spaces in ways that nudged people physically closer together so that they would likely talk to each other, a process he called “triangulation", an important aspect of architecture psychology.
Conscious cities is a concept which proposes that we replace the focus on efficiency in the built environment with a focus on health and well being. One of the major themes of Conscious Cities is to bridge neuroscience, architecture and technology.

I love that more people talk about the relationship between architecture and psychology. The more people talk about this, the more we normalise urban beauty as a human necessity and not a nice to have.

So important, our urban spaces have a big impact on our vibrational spectrum which powers quantum realities.

Very interesting. I was recently in Rome and walked among beautiful old structures, along the Appian Way, on the Palantine Hill and I was actually happier than I have been for a long time. Was it the historic significance? or the beauty of the architecture? and surroundings. Anyway, I am going back there as soon as possible.

Every video you make is perfect. I often wonder what the psychological affects there are on being surrounded by thousands of people but not knowing a single one. Evolutionary we would have never experienced such a thing. Think that’s where a lot of loneliness stems from. I can say I feel 100x more lonely walking around strangers than I do hiking in nature alone.

I want to write a long response to this, about the psychological affects there are on being surrounded by thousands of people but not knowing a single one. It is my favorite topic. I love that feeling, but also aware that it's unhealthy. Not sure how to explain.
@waynepoole6120
@waynepoole6120 2 года назад
I think the reason why you feel lonely around strangers is that you have an innate desire to connect with what's around you and find it difficult to do so. Its isolating. There are dangers in nature but nature is what it is... natural. People can be unpredictable and pose greater risks as we all share the environment where space and resources are limited. And people can just be weird or we ourselves may feel like we won't be accepted by others and therefore alienate ourself and isolate again.

“How architecture affects human behaviour?” Yes there’s far too much of it and it’s mostly incredibly bland. It’s very simple 😂
