As someone who managed to beat all he lethal missions it is possible but NOT fun experience, if you think zoanthropes are pain as a Bulwark you will love the minigun terminator chaos extremis and all enraged ranged ones (a direct nerf to melee classes because melee totally need a nerf), that is just PAIN. That journey is not to enjoy and from what im hearing the lower difficulties have WORSE spawn ratios, as in, more extremis than lethal?! its crazy.

If it's not fun why bother? That being said lethal is the most fun I had with the game ever since they made us unkillable by just parrying everything on 3.0, both with friends and solo I have been having a blast and enjoying even the losses, actually the losses are almost what make it fun, before this it was so rare for me to ever fail a mission. Also I find that just completing ops on lethal is super rewarding personally, it really makes you feel like you are getting better and better on each attempt, the helmet and the power sword skin are great but people seem to think that those are the only reason to play the game on lethal instead of just playing the game because the challenge is fun!

I did a few ruthless runs to get my heavy plasma to relic for lethal runs and I didn't notice any changes for spawns. People keep saying that they adjusted the spawns for lower difficulties but I personally haven't seen it. No duo or trio extremis should be spawning outside of lethal.

But I can recognise that the sweatlording is not for everyone and having lower difficulties affected is concerning because to make progress you need to use weapons one tier lower, which is an issue when the weapons are in many cases underwhelming until relic (and let's not talk on the poor perks some have or how almost all Bolters, while can do work, are lesser to the meta ones by a good margin).

After 4 mission failures in a row, I adapted by uninstalling and moving on to another game. It just wasn't fun anymore

You need to stop with the "Well in pvp it's fine and fun, so what if the pve experience is awful who cares" excuse, especially for the dodge. In PvP, you dont loose an entire mission because you died from a bullshit dodge window or a random enemy deciding they'll obliterate your entire healthbar. In pvp you just respawn and have more fun because its just one death. In PvE it can be the end of a run. The game is undoubtedly actually doomed if they thought spamming Lictors Raveners and Zoanthropes with bosses and your armor being even less effective now and needing to group up when the Zoanthropes so fucking aoe attacks and Carnifex will charge and kill you.. The ai director is absolutely a problem right now. The Redditor saying its heresy to gatekeep and say the difficulty is a problem for most players and then you going "ah idk" is part of the problem dude. 6 fucking Zoanthropes on minimal is an issue. Maybe the experience you recently had wasnt bad but that doesnt mean there isnt any problems. You even mentioned you hate Zoanthropes, yeah so does everyone else and it's even worse when there's multiplw Zoanthropes with other extremis! Its such a braindead choice because now you need peak reaction time to not get stunlocked to death You keep shilling for the game and shutting down any person saying the fun is ruined for them because you're having fun off in pvp, that doesnt mean they're wrong. Not everyone even likes pvp, i certainly dont, but you're here acting like none of the issues people are having is genuine. You're gatekeeping without even meaning to.

The devs listened to people like you, and now new people like me have to struggle to stay alive at the lowest difficulty. My final match of today was me struggling to keep a pair of people who where doing their very first operation alive. It was constant miniboss after miniboss. At the lowest level. With hordes of warriors along side it. I am by no means a bad player. The game is easy to understand. For my first day playing I have already got down most attack patterns and audio ques. It's ridiculously bad for new players. Trying to silence someone by using the excuse that it's just a skill issue make YOU the idiot. Because yes IT IS A SKILL ISSUE. Most people at the lowest level aren't ready for something like that. You f*cking donkey. How are people gonna enjoy the game if they can't even complete a operation their first time around? So if your not gonna try and help. Shut up, people like you ruin the fun.

No shit. Yesterday I was running Inferno solo with my Bulwark and had two Double Zoanthropes and a Neurothrope. Krak grenades saved that run. Not at one time. There was also a Lichtor and two raveners. This was on Average difficulty.

As a casual, I don't like the new changes ,im dieing on the lower difficulty level, I'm still leveling. It takes me longer to finish the missions too, I hate playing for 30 mins, only to die and get like no exp.

I had a neurothrope followed by 2 zoanthropes on ruthless pre 4.0. The enemy types that require ranged weapons to kill or else you're just screwed. Shit is getting out of hand the AI director is straight broken for some reason. Also, casuals won't adapt they'll just leave and the game will suffer as a result just like HD2.

@@anitaremenarova6662 problem is gear progression is gated behind ruthless mode. No relic weapons or full armor cosmetics unlocks if they keep ruthless as jacked up as it is. Even worse when the jump from purple to yellow tier is bigger than the damage increase from stock to purple tier. Keep all the try hard stuff in the new lethal mode where if you want to be a sweat lord then so be it, it won't affect the core progress loop.

Casual players haven't even completed ruthless once so there isn't an issue there, those that want relic to be able to push higher difficulties can clutch it and the rest is fine where they are, substantial is where they can stop.

@@anitaremenarova6662 Still sounds like a self inflicted issue, that the devs can definitely see where players congregate to and decided to make wanting to play a higher difficulty even more unpalatable. Makes no sense that you'd create content that should be getting experienced and enjoyed and then making it not fun to try and get said content. I played at ruthless fairly consistently (played because as it stands fuck this game right now) and lemme tell you there is rarely a "clutch it" moment it's more like pure luck sometimes as the game will decide it's going to end mission now by sending a massive wave filled with majoris ranged units and then mini bosses on top so they can get free shots. Serious issue when you're simulating dark souls dodge roll spamming instead of being able to reasonably fight back.

Ruthless should be just a bit harder than the last patch before 4.0 and it'll be fine. But lethal should be as hard as it is for those than want a real challenge.

@@ciscoytube5352 Sniper has a perfectly serviceable melee weapon, slash into them while parrying and gunstriking. As for heavy, conserve your munitions you're a walking ammo arsenal between your primary and secondary you should never be out of ammo.

Armor got nerfed in Substantial and Ruthless, plus on Tyranid maps, the Game AI Director is broken, so it spawns massive hordes along with Extremis even on Minimal difficulty. Along with that they also nerfed some gear.

I have all level 25s and relic weapons. Before the patch I was soloing ruthless, post patch I can’t even complete substantial solo on certain classes. I have noticed on MANY occasions where I’m taking chip damage through invulnerability windows. I’ll finish and execute with 4 pips of armor and come out of the animation with zero armor pips. I’m getting knocked out of gun finishers as I’m firing. My character starts freezing in animations because it can pick out which of the 16mobs I’m parrying. They’ve massively broken this game in the last patch

Heavy seems to be more prone to the micro freezes, sometimes he just stands there doing absolutely nothing while I'm hammering the parry button cursing loudly. Also warriors getting a cheapshot in during a successfull parry nuking 90% hp. Gunstrikes & Gunfinishers don't generate Invulnerability frames afaik, you're always fully open to dmg and knockbacks during the animation

I literally faced six zoanthropes on minimal. And had to defend all four generators in inferno. I was just trying to help out some newbs with my level 25 tactical. Without me there everyone would have died

I literally just got the game today and had same thing happen for my final operation. Now I'm not the best. I'm still missing a LOT of the warnings for when I'm gonna be hit. But I'm not the worst either. I can hold my ground quite well. And I'm proud of that considering it's day 1 for me. Yet, I replay operation 1 at the LOWEST setting. Get paired with two people doing their very first operation run. And i end up getting forced to turn on my mic and act as their teacher/commander. I was on the fly explaining everything I knew and every strategy taught to me by people I paired up with already. While dealing with non stop miniboss attacks. We had to fight like 3-4 pairs of the floaty brain boys throughout the run. Along side 2-3 lictors. And like 5 mole dudes. On the lowest level is insane. Especially for 3 people on level 1 classes. Considering I thought it'd be a good idea to use the tactical for the first time. And after that I realized that's how been the entire day for me. I join a round with vets. They spend the round keeping me up and teaching me crap. While we fight off miniboss after miniboss. With limited ammo because most enemies are tanking f*cking fully charged plasma rifle shots. Then again I'm doing ok compared to most. But that's more due to my ADHD and the fact I learn skills incredibly fast when I'm hyper focused on something. So I'm already a decent player. If it wasn't for that fact. I literally wouldn't be able to complete a single game.

@@knightpal1545 Sorry to hear that , at least its not totally turning you off playing the game hopefully. It is still a great game, but they need this next update asap. My best advice would be get good at parrying/gun strike to keep your armor going in mobs. You can parry a lot of those minoris pretty easy and it can even kill them, while giving you back armor. Maintaining armor is so huge with how much damage your health can take once its gone.

Just got the game today. On the lowest level it was throwing multiple hard enemies at me and my teammates like they where going out of style. On my last operation of the day I ended up with two level 1 who knew nothing on the game. I was literally mentoring them while struggling to keep the group alive. It was just constant wave after wave of warriors, floaty brain dudes, and invisible Cthulhu things. It was brutal. I am not the best player. But by no means am I helpless. If I'm surrounded I can hold my own quite well. And I've played enough to know how most things work. So overall the games a mess. Enemies tank a ridiculous amount of rounds. And they continuously spawn over and over. And I wanna bring up the fact I was playing the standard tactical dude at level 1. With two level 1s who just booted the game. And the director was throwing wave after wave of intense enemy combinations. If that was my first operation, we would have gotten absolutely destroyed. They seriously need to fix the game. Because there shouldn't be a universe where I get paired with two new recruits who are just learning the ropes. And have to keep a constant eye out for harder miniboss enemies. We dealt with a total of 3x lictors, 3-4x Neurothrope duos, a combined total of about 156 warriors (80% melee type, 20% shooter) and 5 burrow dudes. That's absolutely unfair for new recruits. I had to turn on my mic and start acting as their commander to keep them up. I hope they had a good time, but it shouldn't have been that tough.

It blows my mind they introduced an armor system for Lethal that punishes you for playing your class...like how you play your class. This has "we don't play our game" written all over it. And now I'm scared their just gonna keep making things worse.

Before the patch, I would queue for Ruthless runs and rarely if ever have an issue. After the patch, it feels like every run I see "Last Brother Standing". Extremis enemies are everywhere with the favorite being the floating nut sacks. But, as bad as the extremist enemies are they are still not the biggest issue. The big issue is the massive amount of ranged enemies and the armor being weakened. Ruthless runs for me went from cakewalks to having to be ready to carry every run because teammates go down like they are in a contest for who can take the most damage. The amount of Zoanthrobes around has made me a big fan of Sniper, Tactical, and even Vanguard with bolt carbine as they can focus down those big targets quickly. I have done all missions on lethal and I want increased difficulty but not how it is right now. Right now, it feels like there is so much unavoidable damage where what it should be is that you take damage only when you make a mistake. But having situations where you are stun-locked and forced to take damage or where you get injured and are spamming the button for the medkit so you can quickly heal the contested health just for it to not register until AFTEr the health is gone is stupid. Challenging content only works if players feel that all the mistakes can be avoided. Right now, that is not the case.

I like just about everything in Lethal. Except for the Tight Formation (Needs a longer leash). Fix last Man Standing, AI director, and put the lower levels back to how they were.

Yup...9+ Extremis on minimal... My highest count was 14 on minimal...and that included 10 Zoanthropes as every one of their spawns was a pair. At least it's not average, nothing beats Neurothrope, 2 Zoanthropes, and a massive wave at the same time coming off the elevator.

As a heavy bolter heavy all I want is more ammo on Ruthless, Lethal is good as is, sans the armor proximity crap. As for minimal and average, the spawns should be toned down a little so people, especially those new to the game, can level up while having fun. Do not go the Helldivers 2 way or the game will die, there are not enough sweatlords out there to fill the random lobbies.

This patch was a step in the wrong direction, for sure. I do agree people are being hyperbolic about it though. It's not the end of the world, or rendering it unplayable. The dodge thing is annoying, but it will be fixed. The tether was poorly thought out, and I hope it's addressed, but the posts about the devs killing the game are a bit overdramatic imo. Substiantial+ is significantly harder, and the feels bad is it doesn't feel like it's because players are bad, it's due to shitty spawn combinations, janky dodge windows and no ammo (which players can't control). Once that gets tweaked, dodge fixed and the tether idea reexamined, the ops portion of the game should be back on track. Right now the state of the game is exacerbating the issues with lower power classes/talents/weapons that already don't see much play because if you choose them you are even more likely to lose than ever before

I just did a solo match on Substantial on the last mission and I was in the generator room where you capture and clear off the thorns. I got the pair of zoanthropes as I was capping one area, l downed one, and went to get ammo to fight the last one. In the middle of getting ammo from the cache, a Lictor attacked me. So then I had to fight that Lictor with that last Zoanthrope at the same time on Substantial somehow.

I completed 5 out of 7 lethal missions this weekend. It took me probably 1 out of 10 tries each mission to complete playing with randoms, but it's doable. I had fun even in the failure but probably won't visit lethal again after i get the last 2.

the other day I had 5 zoantropes (2x2+1) spawn on average difficulty, just during the final phase of inferno when you detonate the prometium.

TL:DR I agree that Minimal and Average needs to be changed, but Ruthless and Lethal are completely fine IMHO. I managed to get the helmet too, and the only road block I faced was other players complaining I was "going too fast" on Lethal and calling me the "worst player in the game" because I was slaughtering things on Tactical with the GL. I think people are over exaggerating the difficulty, I've been having a blast with this patch. I enjoy pushing and learning from failures in my games. I enjoy having something to work towards and eventually overcome. I enjoy the thrill of coming out ontop against overwhelming odds. I don't enjoy baby mode where I can beat everything first try. Not being able to lose takes away the fun. I do agree anything below ruthless should have been left alone, that way newer players can have a good time and learn the game. It also helps me get some levels on classes I haven't touched. But what type of games have people been playing where they can't handle this level of difficulty? I honestly don't get it. Have games really become so easy now that people are so easily frustrated and overwhelmed? God I sound like a boomer. I don't think they need to change the difficulty on ruthless or Lethal, I think it's perfect as it is. On Minimal and Average they most certainly do, but before this patch I felt underwhelmed with the challenge, people were able to solo Ruthless, which was the highest difficulty at the time, and not just on Tactical. Substantial would also need to be adjusted so the difficulty curve between all the difficulties is a steady climb and not a sudden spike. But saying these changes "ruin the game" is over the top. Bring on more challenges and rewards! Don't make the game easier and spoon feed us the rewards because some players don't want to put the time into getting good enough to overcome the challenge. I work full time hours, I get not everyone can put time in, but this isn't an MMO. You don't have to grind dailies or treat it as a second job! This game Is already Casual, please don't make it even easier! PLEEEEEEASE! Another thing I agree with is about the Tether Mechanic. Make it so last standing players get their Armor back as normal until another teammate is revived! I believe that would be fine. Also, Assault and Vanguard need buffs. Their perks, need a complete overhaul. If you main either of those two, god bless you >.

Also assult main. And honestly after i seen a perk and weapon build.....i dont think assault is as bad as everyone says. I also main assault and was able to 6 out of 7 mission on lethal. Mission 4 wrecked me and i honestly got carried by two good random players.

Nothing got nerfed, a new difficulty was needed but I agree that the enemy numbers should be reduced for lower difficulties since casuls don't know how to parry even though the game teaches them in tutorial

@@anitaremenarova6662 Actually, armor got nerfed on Ruthless and Substantial. They also nerfed Melta Bombs on bosses into the ground (70% less damage). I could care less about Lethal as my hands are too messed up so I'm not even going to try it. Spawns are definitely broken AF now on Minimal and Average. I'm getting more Extremis spawns on Minimal than I used to get on Substantial pre patch.

@@MalefaxTheBlack Don't think anyone noticed, melta bomb got nerfed because tacticals would abuse it to one-shot bosses with auspex it still functions the same for everything else. I didn't say spawns getting upped on substantial and lower wasn't an issue.

ive noticed after patch the game just got kind of cheap, like they just through a boss on top of a massive wave and while ur trying to survive that spawn those floating mines that u cant even see spawn in the midst of all the chaos

I thought ppl were just overreacting because I wasent really having any problems still not but I just played a minimal inferno 4 lictors 3 snakey boys a flying booger boss and 6 little flying boogers with endless alarms going off still soloed it but I can see a problem here

Imo lictors, ravenors, majoris aren't a problem. You just need to learn to parry. My problem with the new ai director is the spawn rate of zoanthropes. They will spawn out of you and either one shot you or take over half your health before you realize.

its too hard for randos right now imo. If you join a discord with tryhards and mics its fine, but the vast majority of players just play matchmaking. I feel like a lot of games struggle between balancing the game for both "sweats" / "casuals" simultaneously and this is clearly to hard for the casual players.

Lethal is a great time. I think if they added some more resources and got rid of tight formation it’d be perfect. My team had 25 special kills on the new mission the other day… 😳

I only came to the game two weeks ago and was working threw each PvE mission first on minimal and then to average. Me and a Buddy are both lvl-18 but we hadn't started Substantial before the patch so we need purple armory data. We tried it with one random twice couldn't get past end of the jungle into the refinery. And then we tried with our 3rd friend because he just got to lvl-10 (the recommended for Substantial!) in voice chat and still couldn't make it into the refinery. yeah so what am I expected to just level out my class to 20 or to max level running inferno at minimal or Average it's doable but the way the AI director throws stuff at you Minimal or average take almost the same amount of time because all the stuff that is thrown at you. Even tonight I did just one mission on Minimal tonight and had 3 sets of 2 zoanthropes and 2 lictors. making spawns of grenades and ammo and stims more plentiful could make it better, but it still seems like a lot. Even before the patch why didn't minimal difficulty spawn 3 consumables at a time? Like I know loot goblins that would take all three but to at least give the players the option to just take one each and not make them ration supplies on the Minimal difficulty. Playing the game of "oh the Sniper needs the ammo more then me the bullwark so he should take the one box that spawned" or "I the Bullwark need the stims more then the sniper in the back" I feel like I'm playing PvE from ammo crate, to ammo crate, on average and especially Substantial

Yeah I have lost so many runs due to insane spawns trying to level weapons..... It's bonkers when you're leveling gear that can barely touch brain bugs and you get three sets of them before the generator room with a big brain bug in the generator room running multil melta it's kinda.... Ugh

Dude I just want to say no lie I started playing my sniper so I was playing on level 2 difficulty and I got 2 zonethropes, 3 lictors, 3 ravaners, and a fuckin carnafex at the end lol I was playing the 1st map and all of that was before the crazy horde at the end lol I will say I didn’t go down but I am pretty experienced with the game at this point but dayum bro lol I was literally like wtf is happening 😅

It’s bad when I, playing as a level 25 tactical with full relic gear, feel genuinely pressured on anything below Ruthless. I’m not the greatest player admittedly, but I can generally still roll through Rutgless without issue and have cleared all of Lethal. A game on Average should _never_ feel like anything besides a cake walk, but somehow it still devolves into a madhouse. I don’t mind Lethal being a massive sweatfest, that’s fine. It’s not fun to me even though I can play at that level, but I get why some people want a truly hard mode to test themselves against. That’s fine. However, why in the hell did the lower difficulties need to be changed when you just added the “for the challenge difficulty?” Talk about pointless.

Maybe an unpopular opinion on this channel, but I think the pvp is by far the worst part of the game. It seems completely under developed. There are like 4 maps and 3 game modes where two are almost identical. The weapons don't seem substantially different as time to kill is so short. Melee seems a bit off. There is no reason to use all weapons as there is no good progression system (just use the best weapon available at any level). Maps seem too small for me and death is too quick for a 3rd person game. Shame there is not 2vs2 or revival mechanics - I am comparing this pvp to other 3rd persons from the past like Gears of War or Transformers war for cybertron and this pvp doesn't have anything on those games. We need challenges, customisation, reasons to keep playing pvp. At the moment there is practically nothing. My mate and I play with coms together and when we finish pvp me feel so meh. It is just underwhelming. I know there will be updates in the future but this was a full price AAA game with less pvp content than even the worst Call of duty game. Its like pvp was a side thought - so for the devs to then make pve (which was substantially more fleshed out) broken as it currently is. Seems... odd! If they had play tested these mechanics most people would probably say the changes were overall negative.

No this is accurate. Last one I did on easy had 6 just in the generators. That’s not including the 7+ other extreme class tyrannids we dealt with through the mission. The generators were so bad rng I had to record the run as proof I wasn’t going crazy

Did all of lethal nonstop, only inferno took more than 1 try. i dont play heavy or sniper, havent touched heavy at all, cant speak for them. The rest of the classes felt fine, i didnt pay attention to the tether, no one in our team did but we were shoulder to shoulder 80% of the time so idk. The diffulty is fine, felt far from impossible but still moderately challenging. My only complain is why the hell did they make ruthless lethal without the tether lmao

Playing with friends and using actually good guns, say Melta or the Stalker guns, well you might not have an awful experience. For players who chose Heavy or a Vanguard with grapple or Assault with jump pack this update is hell. Don't try to invalidate people by claiming it's fine when it's absolutely not. The AI director rng is insane now and sometimes you'll have an okay experience and then another you'll have 6 Zoanthropes and a Carnifex

It really sucks to hear you be dismissive of the whole other half of the game and its playerbase. You may not have any qualms because pvp, but thats does not invalidate what pve players are saying. I myself used to steamroll Ruthless, now i sometimes only play one mission that gets protracted an extra 20-30 minutes because of the viceral spawns, before putting my controller down. I dont play a game to be competitive. Majority of players likely don't. We play because we get to be the angels of death fabled by the lore. Like Doomguy, we get to feel powerful and have fun. I hope maybe someday you come to better empathize with the rest of this game's community, but until then I'd advise getting off pvp, and having a day of just pve. Tell me how it fairs for you.

The AI director is broken everybody trying to champion the 4.0 patch just needs to stop it's a busted patch plain and simple they destroyed the power fantasy and destroyed the fun point blank I'm a huge fan of this game with over 150 hours I've beaten every mission on ruthless but I refuse to do lethal because it sounds so stupid if they fix it ,let's go. If not, fuck that. It is very very annoying to see that after the hell divers two fiasco Devs still don't fucking learn SMH hopefully they fix the it with significant restoring of the old system and maybe a slight buff to the bolters, then all is forgiven. 5:30

Sure if you have max level 25 squad, each knows what they're doing, the game isn't hard, maybe a bit if a challenge on lethal. But that's the thing, 99% of the playerbase sucks at the game, they don't know how to parry and those have the best weapons for their class. So for them, the game is very challenging.

I'm also a long time dark souls fan, played since demon souls, but that had nothing to do with this ganem this game even on lethal is nowhere close to as hard as those games. But my problem is that, if players like you want a challenge, there is lethal, and I'm for making that difficulty as challenging as possible. But ruthless and below have to be easy enough for new players level 5-10 looking to lever their gear. I used to solo ruthless to max all my gear, I can still do it but random zoanthropes one shoting me has happened way too many times for me to think it's not a problem.

The people crying about it are the same people that grab stims to top off when they have teammates running around with mortal wounds. It's easy to cry and scream about difficulty spikes when players still haven't taken the time to learn fundamental game mechanics and tactics. Same applies to pvp in this game. Competent players make adjustments. Entitled players expect the developers to hand everything to them. While a few slight adjustments are ideal, I hope the developers don't buckle to the entitled masses.

As the player that is actively looking for the gene seed, I always take the stims when I see them because if I die we lose the exp buff. But most players are so unaware about the games mechanics, they will snag the stims before the gene seed carrying player can take them and most times the teams lose the gene seed and thr mission. Players don't understand to stick close to their teammates and want to feel like one man armies and get killed 90% of the time.

@anitaremenarova6662 the point you're missing is players don't need mastery until they reach ruthless and lethal. The campaign itself offers a majority of what you need to succeed and gain this knowledge. Trials push you to reach A tier to ingrain these principles. Mastery itself comes through research, practice, diligence, and understanding of game mechanics. For example, if a player has a stim pack and a guardian relic, but pops stim pack, prior to going down with relic, then the player essentially missed a full heal and opportunity to remove a mortal wound. That is not a developer fault, that is player stupidity.
