How are Forgiveness and Punishment Related?
Please visit: faithalone.org/radio
Welcome to the Grace in Focus radio / podcast. Today, Bob Wilkin and Dave Renfro are answering a question about forgiveness and punishment - and how the two are related in the Bible (and in life). Is forgiveness the absence of punishment? Can these two mutually exist? If you forgive someone, does that mean you should also remove or mitigate any consequences for the offense? Bob and David have some thoughts and Biblical answers to share, and we invite you to listen in! Listen each weekday to the Grace in Focus podcast!

Not quite. You seem to have missed the part about God's discipline in response to sin - which is sometimes crushing. And what about the Bema Seat Judgment? You appear to hold the loss of eternal reward in low esteem, Danny

So, how do some respond to God's discipline? Heb 3:12 " Take care, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil UNBELIEVEING HEART, LEADING YOU TO FALL AWAY FROM THE LIVING GOD". 1 Timothy 4:1 " The Spirit EXPRESSLY SAYS THAT SOME WILL DEPART FROM THE FAITH....GIVING HEED TO DOCTRINE OF DEMONS and Gal 5:4 " Severed from Christ and fallen from grace..", So, while God may discipline, it doesn't mean you will change. Not sure what the " BEMA SEAT JUDGMENT" is? I believe that you hold your eternal reward in low esteem, PDL4747. You believe once you have been saved, you can walk in darkness, walk after the flesh, disobey the commands of the Lord, have an unbelieving heart, give heed to doctrine of demons, be severed from Christ and fall from grace and even tell God to go jump in a lake, AND YOU BELIEVE HEAVEN WILL STILL BE YOUR HOME. I believe in the security of the BELIEVER, as long as he continues to live by faith, Rev 2:10 " Be FAITHFUL UNTO DEATH", He is not the guy I have been talking about!!!! I am talking about the guy who has quit believing, who has departed from the faith, who has given heed to doctrine of demons, etc..... Jesus says, " He that LIVES AND BELIEVES IN ME SHALL NEVER DIE", and I agree 100%.....what happens if he quits LIVING? BELIEVING?

Once you are saved, GES believes that you can walk in darkness, walk after the flesh, disobey the Lord's commands and never ever repent, confess your sins or ask forgiveness and you will still be saved, heaven will still be your home. But if you walk in the light, walk after the Spirit or try and obey his commands, then you are trying to earn your salvation and you are not saved..... This is what GES believes.....

I think it's a much better idea to find out what GES believes (and teaches) from watching their teaching videos rather than reading the RU-vid comments. From my own experience, almost everyone that objects to Free Grace and once saved always saved compares belief in these theological stands to "walking in darkness, walking after the flesh, disobeying the Lord's commands and never ever repenting, confessing your sins or asking forgiveness". Personally, I haven't met a person that believes this way and wants to live like the devil after accepting and believing in Jesus Christ. I HAVE known many people who fall short of God's perfect will for out lives, probably EVERY day, and still have assurance of the free gift of eternal life. But, it's your choice. You have the free will to choose how you live. Miserably or Joyfully. You're never going to be able to live up to living perfectly.

The false teachers accused the apostle Paul of the same thing! They were saying that Paul preached they could keep sinning just because he taught receiving the free gift of salvation without works is the Gospel. But, even though that is the only true Gospel, he never taught it was okay to sin. He did, however, teach that all believers fall short! He did teach that every believer desires to serve God in his mind but doesn't know how to accomplish it. He did teach that we have an advocate if we do sin. He did teach that we still have the old nature that strives to usurp authority over the new nature. The Bible says, "a righteous man falls seven times in a day and gets back up again, but an unrighteous man doesn't even know when he falls."

The facts are that no matter what you declare, you will still walk in darkness, you will break God's commandments, you will not confess all your sins, you will call the honour of sin a good thing, you will call some of the good things evil, and so on. The difference is that free grace theology corresponds to facts. Your attitude, on the other hand, is full of falsehood. It is hypocrisy. If you lie that you will keep God's commandments and you don't then you are being hypocritical. And yet we both know that you will not keep God's commandments. So why do you want to live in the hypocrisy of falsehood and lies?

@@chrzescijanie So, then you agreed with what I said about GES, you can walk in darkness, walk after the flesh, commit adultery, fornication and even murder, never repent or confess your sins and you can disobey the Lord's commands and you will still be saved. So, I guess John had it wrong in 1 John 1:7? The APOSTLE JOHN said, " If we walk in the light , as he is in the light.......the blood of Christ cleanses from all sin......if we CONFESS OUR SINS, he is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS..." I am forgiven for I walk in the light as JOHN SAID, and part of that walking is to confess my sins, which I do every day, I AM FORGIVEN BY THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF CHRIST, Hey but you say that John had it ALL WRONG. And then there is the apostle Paul in Romans 8:5 " For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit SET THEIR MINDS ON THINGS OF THE SPIRIT. To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.." But you say that Paul is wrong, you can't set your mind on the Spirit, Paul don't you know you will still walk in darkness..... And Paul you were also wrong in Gal 5:16 " Walk in the Spirit, and do not gratify the desires of the flesh, for the desires of the flesh are against the desires of the Spirit.......Now the works of the flesh are plain, fornication, impurity........I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God...." But you say, wait Paul, you are totally wrong, for I will still walk in darkness and I can commit the works of the flesh, never repent or confess and heaven will be my home. I walk in the light as 1 John 1:7 says and the blood of Christ cleanses me from all unrighteousness, for I confess my sins, I am forgiven.......for I walk in the light.

@@graftme3168 I am forgiven for I do as 1John 1:7 says " Walk in the light as he is in the light.....and the blood of Christ cleanses us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. IF WE CONFESS OUR SINS, HE IS FAITHFUL AND JUST, AND WILL FORGIVE OUR SINS AND CLEANSE US FROM ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS". I walk in the light and I confess my sins daily and the blood of Christ cleanse me from all unrighteousness. And even in the Lord's prayer Jesus said to ask to have our sins forgiven, which I do. But GES believes like you believe, that you can walk in darkness 24/7/365 never repent or confess and heaven will be your home. And as you said, Paul said in Romans 6:15 " What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law? BY NO MEANS.....", yet GES says that after you have been saved, you can keep sinning, never ever repent or confess your sins, and heaven will still be your home.....

To hipokryzja. Jeśli kłamiesz, że będziesz przestrzegać Bożych przykazań, a tego nie robisz, to jesteś hipokrytą. A przecież oboje wiemy, że nie będziesz przestrzegać Bożych przykazań. Dlaczego więc chcesz żyć w hipokryzji fałszu i kłamstw?

I walk in the light as 1 John 1:7 says, " Walk in the light as he is in the light.....and the blood of Christ of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin......v9 " If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness".......1John 2:1 " But if any one does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous......v4 " He who says, " I know him", but disobey his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, he who says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked". Apparently you think that the apostle John didn't know what he was talking about.....I walk in the light and I do as John says, I confess my sins daily and my sins are forgiven. And apparently you think the apostle Paul doesn't know what he is talking about in Romans 8 :5 " For those who LIVE ACCORDING to the flesh set their minds on things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit SET THEIR MINDS ON THINGS OF THE SPIRIT. To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.....v12 " For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit.....you will live". And Paul says in Col 3:1 " If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above......Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth." and then Paul says in Romans 12:2 " Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect". And Paul says in Gal 5:16 " Walk by the Spirit, and do noy gratify the desires of the flesh.......I warn you those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.....those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with it's passions and desires..." Again, I walk in the light and part of that walking is to confess my sins and I do daily. But you believe that John and Paul are wrong and EVEN JESUS, FOR THE IN THE LORD'S PRAYER JESUS SAID TO ASK FOR FORGIVENESS OF OUR SINS.........
