Good video. The 360 is holding it's own. I'm not hearing the same about the 400 legend and really have no idea if is or isn't. I'm still a very big fan of the 350 L as it's just a really decent cartridge and fun to shoot. Time will tell.
Buddy got a .400 last year. Bagged a nice buck with it, said it put a nice set of holes in it. Personally trying to decide between a .360 Model-X and a lefty .400.
@davidunderwood3605 the 350Legend is a decent round, honestly the only weakness has been reliable factory bullets that will expand at extended ranges. Regarding the 400Legend, ammo manufacturers will ultimately determine the success/failure as most folks do not reload.
I seen in Cabala's in Oregon some kind of 400 I think was called a 400 Eagle that was the length of the 350 Legon. Just a strait case and possible a 40 cal Hugh weight bullet. These kind of strait case cartridges I haven't a clue what they are being used for here in the Pacfici NW with massive canyons.
@ppmnox indeed. However, after I took the 75 yard gel shot with the 200gr load, I really need to revisit it in my rifle. I honestly believe that I did not wait long enough to let the barrel cool down after I shot the 180gr loads. The Model X is finicky with ammo once that thin barrel heats up! My philosophy = if you need more than 3 shots to kill a deer, maybe you need to consider taking up golf or tennis??!! LOL
@@AP2020_Outdoors I like the caliber. I hope we see more about this rifle in future videos. I'm one of those weird 35 caliber fans. I have a Remington 700 Classic Bolt action 350 Remington Magnum and I built a BSA Monarch bolt action in 358 Norma Magnum. I've been trying to talk a buddy out of his Marlin 336 in 35 Remington for several years to aadd to my 35 cal collection. I have other cal rifles in 22, 7mm, 30. & .311 but there's something special about the 35 for me
@@frankbrowning328 I have one of those 35 Rem marlins and It's so fun to shoot I got a wicked good deal for it (paid 150 bucks for it because the back stock was damaged). A quick order from boyd's and about 2 weeks I had a replacement rear stock.
I just got one and im up here in WA state. Hoping others here pick one up; so for now I'm ordering ammo online. the guys at my shop were liking .360 buckhammer after seeing my henry and looking it up
You should shoot the 200 grain with a cold barrel and then shoot the 180. The 180 flies Jenkee like the 200 did in your second round of shots and the 200 drop right in the pocket. My first three or four shots were great with 180 and then they started getting three and 4 inch groups with a 5-6 minutes in between shots. These things do not like a slightly warm barrel. Sent mine back to they put a different barrel on it but I haven’t had a chance to test it yet but I honestly honestly dont think it’ll make a difference.
@chrismccormick325 The barrel on these Henry rifles are fairly "thin" in my opinion = not conducive for firing long strings of fire > than 5 shots at a time. This is my deer rifle, so if I am firing more than 3 shots in succession, I am having more issues than just flyer shots!!!
I agree with you, I rarely need a second follow up shot deer hunting but that was not my point. My point was you said the 200s pattern worse than the 180s and that’s not the case. The barrel on these things heat up very quickly and more than three shots you’re not getting an inaccurate gauge of accuracy unless you let it cool down. It’s definitely not the end of the world but I think a $1000 firearm you should be able to shoot more than three shots and still have good accuracy, no other firearm I own loses accuracy that quickly and I own quite a few. Good video. I got a 350 legend last year and took a nice doe and did the job. Not quite as effective as the 460 S&W encore I built. 24” barrel pushing 250 grain ttsx at over 2500fps. The 200gr xpb at 3000fps. I’ve looked at the 360 but couldn’t justify it if I want to run a lever I just take the 45-70 but can’t deny that’s a sweet little rifle you got there.
@johnmoore5544 Thanks John. I, too have a 45-70 Gov't which is a great deer cartridge. However, the 360BHMR is now duplicating 308Win ballistics with the right bullet [stay tuned for that video!].
I dont have one yet. Im wanting it in a single shot but the He ry seems ta be made for open sites. I herd that CVA is gonna chamber there single shot for 360 so Ill have one of those!!! But also wanting a 400 Legend probably in a Ruger American GenII. ❤❤❤
This is the only video I've found so far that actually chronographed the 360 Buckhammer loads. Did you do any chronographing without the silencer attached?
@Paladin1873 no I did not. Any velocity gains is probably negligible. However, now you have my engineering mind thinking! Lol. Okay, just for grins, I'll do it without the can sometime. Probably won't video, just post an update here. Cool.
The 360 BH duplicates the ballistics of the old and now obsolete 356 Win. Marlin made about 2k of those 356 Win. rifles which are collectors status now. Not sure how many WIncghester 94s were made in that caliber. For some reason the .35 cal. rounds do not catch on here in the US, aside from the 350 Legend.
@PassivePortfolios Indeed, Honestly, I wish that there was a "lengthened" version since Ohio has NO maximum length restriction of 1.800" which originally was adopted by the Michigan DNR for straight wall cartridges. Gun and ammo manufacturers just followed suit. The 360BHMR is based on the 38-55Win [parent of the 30-30Win] which has a case length of 2.020" versus 1.800". That extra 0.220" would afford more case capacity!
Mostly the reason a cartridge fails is some bunch of gun magazine writers take a disliking to the cartridge or are paid by an ammo or gun manufacture to talk down a competitor's ammo or gun. It has absolutely nothing at all about the new cartridges then the dishonesty of gun writers and often paid to write up favorable or negative stories on guns and ammo. I operated a fishing & Hunting guide services from 1989 to fall of 2019 from the Pacific NW to Alaska then guided twice top known gun magazine writers and what I learn from these stooges would turn people off from reading these outdoor and guns magazines. The one-gun magazine writer was such a puss and cray baby he had to have his favorite Booze flown into camp and with two prostitutes he met at the Alaskan bush company then he spent most of his time in his quarters with the sex workers clearly banging them, with all the moans and loud women sound made during sex. The stories this clown wrote for the magazine for that trip had absolutely nothing to do with what actually he did in camp and to lie even more the moose shown in the story was shot by another client he claims he shot, and photo altered with him by the moose. The writer in camp from Field & Stream magazine was just as bad as the gun writer from Guns & Ammo and a total Woss who was addicted to his flask filled with some alcohol so strong I could smell it 10 to 25 feet away!

I have been very happy my DDC enticers. I have a S-Ti and a L-Ti that are dedicated to a 308 and 300wm. I’ve tried them both on a 300blk bolt gun and they were pretty damn quiet. I’m either going to get a second S-Ti or a OCL hydrogen S to dedicate to my 300blk bolt gun. I’ve wanting to get a OCL can for a while.
@ja0298 great cans for sure! I personally did some sound testing with the guys at DDC; they have the proper tools [sound meters] to get real world honest data!
@TDINWY I do have a reload that rivals and exceeds the 308Win in my 360 Buckhammer! One thing the 360BHMR has over the venerable 35Rem is that it is deer legal in all Midwest states for hunting deer.
@@AP2020_Outdoors The Federal 180gr were awesome, but I've never heard someone say a 4" group at 100 yards from a modern rifle was "not bad." That is bad!
I am pretty sure you reload from the other videos you've done. So, try this! load some barns TSX or TTSX 35 cal 200 gain bullets into the 360 and see how that works. I load these in the 35 Remington then one of these goes into the chamber and the round noise bullet loaded cartridges goes into the tube magazine. The Marilin 336 35 Rem loves these Barns TSX bullets and never do I need a second shot to finish off game.
@lurebenson7722 yes, the Barnes can be used, however they will NOT match the velocities of the Hammer Bullets. The Barnes have a different design in their relief grooves which prevents them from being pushed to higher velocities.

Then explain to me how the AR 10 I have, and I chambered in 6mm-284 win will push Barns TSX 95 grain bullets to 3900 FPS and lighter Barns TSX bullets in the 4000 FPS range so according to you that would be impossible because of the groves. I have a rifle chambered in 8mm-378 Wby mag and that I push Barns TSX 185 grain bullets to 4000 FSP so where are the groove here preventing the Hugh Velocity.
