I'm just confounded how one person can create something as flawless as this. It's like watching an episode of Cosmos, except they had a whole big team of people working on that. Every aspect of your videos is rendered to the utmost quality. I frequently have to pause the video just to process how all of these layers are put together and animated. Apparently you must never sleep! I'm glad you enjoy doing your videos this way because you need to keep doing it forever. Awe-inspiring work once again, Siloe!

That means a lot Greg. It certainly has been a lot of work, but especially the research has been really interesting. 3/4 of the way of finishing I do get extremely tired of it especially having to do so much motion graphics, but that is just the nature of it. If the audience response warrants it I will continue with this format, even if I have to post here and there. Appreciate that you stopped by.

Siloe, you have completely outdone yourself. With all that animation, research, growth of plants, etc. it's unfathomable how long this took. When you say "hundreds of hours" at the end. I absolutely don't doubt it. Incredible history lesson!
@suburbanhomestead
@suburbanhomestead 3 года назад
Thanks Summer. I decided to pull all the stops and make videos I would like to watch 10 years from now. That, coupled with the fact that I don't have much of a life, resulted in this. :-) I'm not going to lie that having to cater to the "fast-video" social media format never really appealed to me, hence my inactivity on Instagram. I suppose I get a bit of tunnel vision with a project an don't like to have to devote mental space with other constant things. An ethnobotanical view of garden plants always interested me and its not a format you see very often. I'm happy to hear you appreciate the hundreds of hours to make this possible. Research is definitely a big chunk of that, which oddly enough I've come to enjoy the most. Having to do all the motion graphics does take a toll, but if there is genuine interest for this style and approach, I'll continue slowly, even if I post very seldom.

Also clicking as soon as you see the video offered in your home page and watching it in its entirety will make youtube want to recommend future videos to you and others. That is how it measures a person's interest in the channel, and the channel's worthiness. I think that what happened to my channel last year is that because I produced lots of watered down videos, a part of my public got tired and stopped watching, and that started the chain reaction for youtube to stop recommending the channel.

Really great video! I can really tell how much work you put in to these videos. Obviously, I wish you uploaded more often, but also I don’t mind waiting. I didn’t get a notification, nor did it show up on my feed, even after refreshing. I knew to search for it because I saw your Instagram post. 😉 Thank you, your work is amazing!

So nice for you to reply😌Last year I found you video about cottage gardens, I watched a few of your videos after that, walked outside on my quarantine lunch break and started digging up our front lawn. It happened exactly that way. We now have an entire front yard garden... not much in it edible yet but more than I’ve grown my whole life ... tomatoes under lights in my basement and now beet seeds on the way... You are inspiring people, this you can be sure if🥰... now we must work on beet emoji 🥕🍅🫑🥦🥬... keep up the beautiful work and Happy Spring and beyond dear human 🧡🧡🧡
