Bhutan 🇧🇹 presents itself as peace loving, progressive and happy country and yet it does not acknowledge its dark history. Some three decades ago, BhutanBhutan 🇧🇹 presents itself as peace loving, progressive and happy country and yet it does not acknowledge its dark history. Some three decades ago, Bhutan
Created one of the biggest Refugees Crisis in the World when it exiled almost 1/6th of its population as illegal immigrant. Almost all of them were “The Lhotshampas”, the Southern Bhutanese, who were from Nepali Ethnicity. They had been living there for generations with peace and then they were all exiled almost overnight.
In this second part, we will look at what exactly happened inside camps, why negotiations between Nepal and Bhutan never prorgressed and what lead to the resettlement in third country.

Brilliant research brother. I was also born in Bhutan, At age 5 I left Bhutan with my family & spend refugee life in eastern Nepal and now permanently resettled in US. We all Bhutanese love Nepal for the support during our tough time.

The fact that, our Nepal government couldn’t consider our Bhutanese (Nepali) peoples as Nepali citizen even after residing in Nepal for almost 2 decades and now, our politicians are fighting to pass the citizen bill to provide citizenship to Indians who just arrived in Nepal, who’s doesn’t speak Nepali, who doesn’t know or follow nepali cultures, who’s ancestor never belonged from Nepal. Shame on our politicians and they call them Des Bhakt

I am a proud Lotshampa Bhutanese. Bhutan is my nation, the birthplace of my identity, provided me everything and made me who I am today. I am honored to be a Bhutanese. I represent Bhutan and I am always grateful for it. When I was young, I heard the stories of 1990 agitation from elders and it used to break my soul thinking about the living conditions of the Bhutanese refugees and their undying hope. Not that I wanted to develop hate for my country, but for the very fact that people deserved to know, understand the truth and acknowledge it. My own Bhutanese friends, relatives always had a misleading notion about the refugees because they believed in some manipulated history. However, brother, I salute and thank you very much for a thorough explanation that simply contained the facts. What happened cannot be changed, but we have control over what might occur in the future. I feel sorry for those who never received justice and are still holding out hope that they will return. But the truth shall prevail. I am really happy glad to know that the Bhutanese refugees are doing so well in abroad, giving their children the life they deserve after 20 years of struggle. Love and respect for them.

India let people come from Bhutan to Nepal in their own vehicles but blocked them in Nepal-India border when they want to go back to Bhutan☹️this shows how biased they were
