My mom explained it by the example of water. Water in it's solid form is ice. Water in it's liquid form is just plain water. Water in it's gaseous form is steam. All three have the components of h20. Technically it's all a type of water. That being said, all three distinguish themselves by what state their in. Just like the holy spirit, Jesus and God are all separate parts of the God head, however they distinguish themselves by what state their in and their function. I just liked that explanation.

You're comparing real life people typically friends or acquaintances, with a specific entity, who is claimed to have created the universe and everything in it. A supernatural being that is "timeless" and "immaterial". Something that you have absolutely no proof of existing, but just believe it does. The easy way to understand Trinity is to look into ourselves and see how we function. We have three functionality in one personality... Body, soul and spirit. All three are different yet they work in perfect sync... We all have Trinity in us. For all those who deny Trinity.... It's as good as your denying your existence. God is three in one and so are we.... That's why Bible says we are created in His image (Trinity)

Soul and spirt are same things, so just 2 personalities in 1 (body and soul) Still.....Soul and body are not 2 different persons, just like you say God is different WHO's. Body and soul don't think individually. There are not Different WHO's Body doesn't even count in it, its only soul which is conscious. According to biology, our whole body changes after every 7 year. But our soul remains the same, we remain the same person throughout. Soul is the actual person, body is just like the cover. it has no consciousness. If example of Body&Soul explains trinity, then you have to admit that only 1 of 3 can think and is conscious and other change over period of time. Trinity is 3 persons in one nature. What you are describing is 3 natures in one person. The question is, how do we count an individual? In terms of person or in terms of nature? If in terms of person, then the Trinitarian God is counted as three individuals. If in terms of nature, then we are counted as three individuals.

The best way I can explain the trinity or three in one is, (ice, water, steam) or a boiled egg. A boil egg has three parts but it’s just one egg! Ice, water & steam are three different elements but they are the same thing just in different form.
Interesting analogy. However, ice water, and steam which are different forms of H20 do not coexist i.e. you can only have one form at one time which would contradict the doctrine of Trinity as I understand it.

Trying to use physical items to represent a spiritual being can be hard to compare. Personally the Sun analogy helps, not completely describes though. The Sun- Father, can't really look upon the sun with the naked eye, yet we know it's there. Sunrays from the sun-Jesus, the light we see; the heat from the sun- Holy Spirit we cant see it, but can feel it. Quick basic description.

I like that last word from Dr. Turek-- "This is not against reason, it's just beyond reason." I am actually comforted knowing that the Lord of heaven and earth---who has nevertheless given us a reservoir of wisdom through His word--indeed transcends our human capacity for understanding. We are not yet in our state of final glory; but as redeemed sinners, we can always trust in the sovereign power and knowledge of God. *Proverbs 3:5-6* "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. I think of the Trinity in this way: It's a co-operative. I liken it to 3 partners who own a business. You have a Chairman, CEO, a CFO. All have equal ownership, and an equal stake in it all, but the three operate separately within the business (in this case, the God head) Also fits Elohim, a singular word, plural noun. This also is useful in thinking about how submission works in a positional way even though all three are equal The father is the chairman (kinda like the sole person on the board) Jesus is the CEO who runs things and is the PR guy (all things created through him and went out to the people as a person like them) and the CFO infuses the company with resources, gets business done, gives out to it's shareholders (believers get gifts from the Holy Spirit) A CEO shares the same vision and is of like mind because he often answers to a board - or the Chairman in this case, and the CFO can be directed by both in managing the business to work... at least in how things can work in a corporation, and need all three to function It's still lacking, and it's not perfect, but if I wanted to explain the Trinity to somebody, it allows me to explain why God cannot simply be "one person", but a singular entity (the corporation) Of course, treating it like a business makes the bonds between all three seem less personal than how they work in Scripture. And yes, I know my analogy may be considered to be partialism. but my point of the "corporation" is that all are equal partners in that all have equal stake - that's how I suggest that all three are fully and equally God - and that the rest is simply positional, not partial. So that's my thought process to get around that possible trap.
This is a bad analogy and should be avoided. Without the flame (the body), there can be no light nor warmth. Jesus and the Holy Spirit arent dependent to the Father for their existence, they all are coequal and all coexist eternally. Your analogy is subordinationism, and is not a biblical representation of the trinity

From the flame flows both light (the Son) and warmth (The Holy Spirit). These three things are one with the light and warmth emanating from the flame. Not subordinate. Not dependent. Of one essence. One God existing in three forms. With all that being pointed out it is just an apology attempting to define God. Of course it's not perfect. I do like it better than the H2O or egg analogy though.

Just last night I was listening to Frank and he spoke on this.. except last night he mentioned something that's not mentioned in this video, and it really helped me understand the Trinity... He said this, " if God is the Spirit of Love, then there must be a lover, and there must be one who is being loved. 3 in 1. The loved one, the lover, and the spirit of love.
Depending on your gender: You can be a father, a son, and a brother at the same time; or a mother, a daughter, or a sister at the same time. In the case of Jesus, it is God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Ghost, all of which have a divine nature.
Yeah, but my dad is always my dad. I don't also refer to him as "son" just because he himself had a dad. I don't call him "brother" because he has siblings. He is just "Dad".
The way I've always understood is like how a man being one....can be a son, a father and a husband.. of which he can't be one to the other. Meaning he can't be a son to his wife or a husband to his mother or child. But we need to remember God has natures we don't understand or couldn't ever understand.

If it so, I am going to proof to you that your quote from John 17:3 literally proves nothing. Let's even ignore the famous declaration of Jesus' divinity in John 1, the same book you have made up your argument from. We don't even need the New Testament for that one, so let's leave it out too, for one moment. Let's refer only to the Old Testament. So, there it is said that the so-called Angel of YHWH apperead to several people. We all heard about the story of Moses and the burning bush. But many don't know that actually the ANGEL of YHWH appears to Moses and afterwards the very same "angel" speaks as YHWH the Lord. How can any obeying angel being SENT by God, claim to be God? Well, the only explanation is that He actually is God. God sent Himself to speak with Moses, He has His own ways and He doesn't think like us. To go further into it, Jesus is actually the Angel of YHWH. Again a question could appear in our brain - so why wasn't he just called the Angel of Lord in the gospels? That is because the Word of God is indirectly yet pretty cleary mentioned in the Beginning of Genesis 1 when God speaks to create the world (Memra/Word of God = Malakh/Angel of God). Another reason for this is, the gospel writers didn't want us to make misconceptions of Jesus as being a literal angel. We gentiles couldn't have known that the Angel of the Lord is Lord Himself because we didn't have the chance to study the Old scriptures properly back then.

The best way I understand it: They are all God, and the three are representations of Himself. God the Father resides in heaven, Jesus the son is how he presents himself to us in human flesh, and the Holy Spirit is how God dwells inside of us.

I really respect this man of God for how he thinks and combats a lot of these arguments. However, when it comes to the Trinity I've never heard him sound so confused. I would actually disagree with his point of the Trinity being a mystery to man. God is not the author of confusion and he wants us to know him. It would make no sense why he would allow for us to be confused while also wanting us to give everything up to him. I believe that we have one God and only one God. Jesus told people that the most important law was that our Lord is One. He didn't say anything about a trinity nor did he say anything about God personality disorder. I strongly feel that if you start feeling confused about your understanding of God you need to keep reading and praying. Our God is the same in the Old Testament as he is in the New Testament. Meaning his children the israelites never were confused about who he was. When we go to heaven we will only see one chair not three. I would be very interested to hear more debate on this topic because I believe it to be a serious misunderstanding in Christians today.
Well, if we are created in God's image, and some of our DNA goes to our children, then we "observe" our parents (like it says Jesus "was next to his Father and observed the things he did") then that shows the "family unit." The Father and the Son have MANY similar traits both in physical and psychological, through the sharing of DNA and the observed environment and actions. 🤷 That's been the way I've rationalized it for years, because when Jesus CLEARLY states "I am not my father, nor am I greater," then 🤔 Does that mean he's speaking the truth, or telling a lie?

A good analogy for the trinity is the Sun...you have the physical orb which is the Sun, the light being emitted by the sun and the heat of the sun...they are three distinct attributes yet they are all still the sun. This always stumped me and still does. I seem to find more in the bible to say the Jesus isn’t god. But ppl will say there is more to say he is god. I dunno... still think he isn’t god but was with him. Why would Jesus pray to god if he is god? Why would Jesus say “I am not good, there is none good but the father” ? I don’t see enough evidence in scripture for the trinity , but I do see a lot of pagan or occult teachings of the trinity and think that maybe the Catholic Church has added this into “The Way” when they combined it with pagan dates and tradition. Here is a little example that can be understand by anyone: When I play my favorite real time strategy videogame I am existing (as myself, my brain and body) outside the game and within the game being represented by a character selected by me and at the same time I can pause the game and change settings to make the game change in certain ways or even move other troops, etc. So pretty much I'm being divided in 3 different entities at the same time and its all me with totally different properties: - An untouchable me from the game perspective. - A semi beatable me since I can start the game again if I get defeated. Bounded by the game interface. - An unseen entity controlled by me that changes settings in the game and affects the game reality. So we can actually say the concept on its basics is not as impossible to wrap our minds around. And if you think of it, its actually a successful method of interface for interactions. (Obviously God is much greater and complex than that since He created the whole reality and has ever been)
People always questions what is in the Bible. If you Trust in God, you trust his Words. Just accept it. God doesn't tell you everything in the Bible. Thats why there is Faith.
I'm one with my fellow brethren. One Body - Many Members. I'm one with my wife. Two are now One. There are many legitimate examples of a one-and-many distinction, yet heretics like to complicate things. Personally, I don't like analogies of the Trinity - they all fail at some point. I just like to explain it how it is. The Bible teaches there is only one God. The Bible teaches the Father is God, the Son is God and the Holy Spirit is God. At the same time, the Bible teaches a distinction between the Father and Son, Son and the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit and the Father. Therefore, we can conclude that there is only one God and this one God is three distinct persons - the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. So, when I say "I'm one with the Church," does that mean we're all one person? Of course not. But we are one, nonetheless. When I say, "I'm one with my wife," does that mean my wife and I are one person? Again, no. But we are one. The question is, "one what?" Clearly, there is only one what, but many who's. In the case of the Godhead, there is one what (Divine) and three who's (Father, Son, Holy Spirit). Breaking it down to its simplest form might help those are truly trying to understand the Trinity, but we are still left with the divine mystery of God, and that's okay. However, it's important and does matter to know what the Bible says about the Creator of the universe. If you have a false view of God, repent while there is still time. As someone who holds to the biblical and orthodox view of the Trinity, I can strongly affirm that Jesus is God - no question about it. Out of all the verses you used, there are really on two that you can use as prooftexts for your position. (Acts 2:38, Isaiah 9:6) Firstly, “name” in Matthew 28:19 and Acts 2:38 is referring to authority, not a name of a person. The idiom “in the name of” proves this point. This explanation works well with Matt. 28 and Acts 2 and the majority of the texts that have the idiom of “in the name of," especially Acts 4:7. Secondly, your argument for Jesus being the Father in Isaiah 9:6 is simple to answer. Isaiah 6:9 is who Jesus is in relation to his people, not within the Godhead. The Hebrew phrase used for “everlasting father” is literally interpreted as the “father of eternity.” Again, this is in reference to who Christ is in relation to his people, not within the Trinity. Jesus is not his own everlasting father the same way how Jesus is not his own God, counselor, etc. The question is, in what way is Jesus these things? The answer should be simple - by being the means of eternal life. Jesus is the Prince of Peace and Father of Eternity by being the way to eternal life, providing true reconciliation and peace between sinners and God (Romans 5:10-11). In no way does this passage say that Jesus is his own Father. If you can't use logic and reason to critique or justify your belief in something, you don't have a logical and rational foundation for believing in it. Yes, there may be a god, there may be a trinity, but unless you can prove it, it is irrational to believe in such a thing. The "god is beyond reason" excuse is logically unsound. Frankly, when I talk with people about the trinity, it's not really the lack of evidence that really annoys me (unlike other topics surrounding god), it's the fact that people are willing to give up their critical faculties to believe in something so logical detestable. The problem is that religious people say that there are three beings in one. So either there are three parts (not three beings) in one being, or there actually three beings in one, where the "one" is a category not a being. However, religious people assert something else, they say that there are still three beings in one being. They just use a variation of the "don't use your human logic" excuse to cop out. Or maybe your God has multiple personality disorder.

I’ve thought of it this way: a person can be many things at the same time, you’re simultaneously your, being, self, persona, spirit, etc. And if God is omnipotent then he has the ability to split himself up and use them accordingly without trouble.

For me it's relatively simple. God = Father + Son + Holy Spirit just as Space = Length + Width + Height, Time = Past + Present + Future, and Matter = Solid + Liquid + Gas. All 3 are necessary for the whole and all the wholes are necessary for reality.

Can the "infinite" be both finite and infinite? I just proved that it can by typing it as a word. I'll do it again. INFINITE. The typed out word is limited in manifestation, but it is only finite in that single manifestation, but not in its entire essence. It mere represents something much greater than itself. Jesus was the exact same, a finite manifestation in human form, communicating tangibly an infinite God to finite human beings who reject Him and want Him to be dead (non-existent) so they don't have to be accountable to anyone other than their own chosen finite view of what God should or shouldn't be. Why do you call them natures? For example why would you not call the Holy Spirit, Father when the scripture clearly says the Holy Ghost is the Father since he is the one who impregnated Mary and it says she conceived child OF the Holy Ghost (or of the Father). And we know that the Son is called Everlasting Father in the bible, and God came in the flesh, the Spirit called Jesus walked among us and we saw the invisible God. Son, Father, Holy Spirit, there is NO difference, we Christians believe the Father died, the Holy Ghost died, and the Son died and raised himself from the dead because there is only one God, the Lord Jesus Christ is his name.

And as he was dying he was praying to the father, and when he was baptised the Holy Spirit came upon him while people heard a voice from heaven calling Jesus "my son". God isn't changing modes from father to son to holy spirit. God is already all three simultaneously. And we know they stay distinct since we know scripture says the son goes to heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father while the Holy Spirit is released to minister to and through the church on earth. God is one God. That is true, but he's revealed himself as three persons who refer to one another, talk to one another, share Glory with one another. We see this first clearly in Isaiah where the ancient of days refers to another figure, referred to as one like a Son of Man, and he's referred to as Lord. This is generally interpreted as a scripture about Christ being God, but as a separate person, one who is also a man. See, the persons can function separately, hence why the father could separate himself from the son on the cross, thus also allowed the Father to answer prayer, run the universe, abd function in all his infinite attributes while Jesus was on earth, clearly not omniscient, since he admitted to not knowing the day or hour of his return, and needed to commune with the father for divine support and direction, like when he tried to get out of going to get crucified, as he had human emotions and reluctance, but submitted himself to the Grand motive and plan for salvation, because he was one with the father, but not identical to him as a person. So while Jesus was not omniscient on earth, the father was, but now the son is fully in his Glory. It's not possible to fully wrap your head around if because we can't grasp the divine nature, but if our theology contradicts what God reveals in scripture then we have to change it, and the trinity was developed as an idea to harmonize scriptural accounts that seem contradictory on face value, but clearly cohere thematically and make sense when seen from a certain vantage point.

We do not "have" souls, we "are" souls. The Bible says that Adam became a living soul. "7And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." (Genesis 3:7 KJV) The soul is not something that is separate from the body and it isn't immortal. The Bible says a soul can die. "Look! All the souls-to me they belong. As the soul of the father so likewise the soul of the son-to me they belong. The soul that is sinning-it itself will die." (Ezekiel 18:4 KJV) The Bible also says that fish and land animals are souls. "And God went on to say: “Let the waters swarm forth a swarm of living souls and let flying creatures fly over the earth upon the face of the expanse of the heavens.” 21 And God proceeded to create the great sea monsters and every living soul that moves about, which the waters swarmed forth according to their kinds, and every winged flying creature according to its kind. And God got to see that [it was] good." (Genesis 1:20-21 KJV) "And God went on to say: “Let the earth put forth living souls according to their kinds, domestic animal and moving animal and wild beast of the earth according to its kind.” And it came to be so" (Genesis 1:23) According to the Bible, souls are not separate from the body nor are they immortal. Did God create a separate entity to exist within your body along with your soul? I already cited the scriptures that state that man IS A SOUL. We do not have a spirit that survives the death of the body. if you die, you are dead until you get resurrected. However those that do have the heavenly hope get "changed" into spirits. Actually on my research and Bible study I have discovered the image of God to consist of 4 cardinal qualities, Love, Justice, Wisdom, and power. We can emulate these qualities even though we are physical creatures. We do not have a separate "spirit" unless you simply are referring to our overall spiritual disposition, which is not a separate creation. Nevertheless The Bible clearly says the following regarding how God created Humans: "7And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." (Genesis 2:7) Taking ingredients from the earth itself, God created a "living soul". He activated the breathing cycle of the human he had formed and it began to live. He did not create a separate entity which animates the body and then lives on after the body dies. As a matter of fact the Bible clearly says the Soul actually dies. "Look! All the souls-to me they belong. As the soul of the father so also the soul of the son-to me they belong. The soul who sins is the one who will die." (Ezekiel 18:4) Humans are "Souls" and so are the animals. To drive the point home, please see 1 Corinthians 15:45 KJV: "And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit." Do you see the distinction between a human (Adam) and the resurrected spirit Jesus? Adam was not a spirit and he did not have a "separate" spirit. He was literally "made a living soul". Humans are capable of being "spiritual" creatures, the best example is the Man Jesus Christ. My final point... I grew up with this theology. I have learned the Truth of who God Is. There is only One Elohim. Father Word and Spirit. We are one as Elohim is one.
